Brandon Bass in, DJ out

I don't know what it takes to do that, but I'll take it.

I don't think Orlando would do that with Nelson,J-Will there. I haven't given up on DJ, you can't fluke shooting 44% from 3 as a rookie and 90% from the line. He's going through a shooting slump right now that even the best go through, he'll come around hopefully sooner rather than later as we need all the offense we can get.I wouldn't mind trading for an upgrade at the 4 and bringing Diaw off the bench

My wishlist is simple. I would like a starting center that can actually catch the basketball.

I wish there was some way we could get DeAndre Jordan and Jordan Hill in some kind of 3 way trade

My wish is for no one specific but a quality 4 to either spell Boris or replace him.

That the FO is patient...and if a trade is made that it is a trade that upgrades the team...

Since the Knicks seem interested in DJ, what about a swap of DJ for Jordan Hill? Does that interest Bobcat fans?

I saw this and like this trade. DJ maybe getting some PT, cuz we play the Knicks twice in about two weeks. if not DJ maybe Acie

I'm not sure why we're not seeing AC (I proposed on another thread that LB does not want him being mentioned as an inclusion for trades) but I do think it is strange...but I'd tend to think if we made a straight up DJ for Hill it is because LB thinks AC can step in...but who knows...

D.J. to the Knicks would be awesome for him and more fitting his style of play. I have yet to see the comfort there with him running the great LB system. He has played his best at a two guard in this sytem. He is a point guard.

How about we give the kid some time? Ok he's struggling right now with LBs system but does that make him a bad player? What happened to all the talk about how Felton and DJ are the basketball version of Double Trouble? He's going through a slump, unless your name is Lebron James a lot of players in the NBA do that.

My wish is for Ajinca to start producing so he can get into our rotation and make giving up our pick for him not that big of a bust.

DJ has another 2 years on his contract though, so that doesn't mesh with their salary issue if they were trying with Duhon or Nate.

I did work this out. It doesn't work as one big trade, but as two smaller trades.

Part one: Boris Diaw for Al Harrington and Toney Douglas

Part two: (using the Raja Bell trade exception) DJ and Lexy for Jared Jeffries

Why they do this: Boris is a favorite of D'Antoni's, and gives them a guy who can play anywhere. DJ gives them a PG they need to play alongside a star like Wade, Bron, or Bosh. Lexy is filler to make it go through. Even after this trade, they still have enough for two max fa's I'm pretty sure.

Why we do this: DJ isn't working with LB. That's obvious. We need to make the playoffs, and DJ isn't helping us do that. Also, Diaw isn't helping right now, because between Jack and Ray, we have two ball handlers and Diaw seems upset. Harrington gives us another solid threat and was a friend of Jack's in GSW. Douglas would provide PG backup, and Jeffries is depth that wouldn't play much but can hit a jumper.

Thoughts?

Edit: I have no clue how close to the Lux Tax we are, so that may put us over it, may not. If it did, we could have them send a pick or cash back as compensation, or we could dump Flip somewhere when possible. I don't know. I think the final salaries on that were like 17.5-12.7, so it'd be close. Also, Stevie has a non-guaranteed contract I think, so we could cut him if we HAD to.

Teej...interesting...but I do not see any circumstances (short of Curry and Jeffries traded) that Walsh takes on Diaw's contract...it is not in his plans...and I doubt we take "garbage" without a first-rounder to go with it...and the Knicks do not have one...

Teej...to add on...I was at the Ford "chat" at 1:00 and he and Hollinger have us as the "worst future franchise"...I'm sure our FO is well aware and most of that comes because of the 2008 draft....I have serious doubts we send the "best" player from that draft out unless we get a first back or it is the most one-sided trade in our favor (has to top Jax) we've ever seen...I think our chances of getting a first are better than the later...Hulk's non-guaranteed could help with the right trade though...particularly with teams that need to shave a little off now...

Regarding those ESPN Chatty Cathy's BRNC brought up, good thing we're never playing in the future, only the present.

Insofar as a DJ trade goes: only if a quality 4 is coming in return, and outside of David Lee, I don't see one on the roster.

And Jonathan Bender's back in the league?!?!?! Wow. Good for him. He was Danny Granger before Danny Granger, except taller. If not for injury, he could've been a damn good player, I think. Hope it works out for him and he can play for a few years.

Beagle...I agree on them (Ford and Hollinger) being nothing but chatty...but throwing two first rounders away (if we indeed trade DJ without getting solid/future) and getting nothing back does not make for a bright future...AA is turning into a solid bust...and we spend every year talking about our need for a PF...the 2008 draft (if we can't fix it with a solid trade) may well take 2-3 drafts to fix...and that is LB for you...

The "Cathys" (LOL) have nothing better to do...I'm not as glum as they are...but I do hate pissing away first rounders...:paddle:

It's just any chance I have to bash ESPN, I jump right on it. Yeah, depending on the DJ situation, I agree the '08 draft is looking ugly. I was a huge Lexy fan last season, but I'm just not impressed with his attitude and body language whether in the game on in a suit. Potential is still there, it's just I don't think it's with this team.....or this league.

But the Cats of late have added talent via trades, so with that in mind, there's no true way to determine the future of the team since the roster is being tweaked regularly to semi-regularly.

Okay this is the deal that is about to happen.

Charlotte out Dj, Diaw, and Ajinca

NY out Hill, and Chandler

Utah out Boozer and a First

Charlotte in Boozer, first and Hill

NY in Dj and Ajinca

Utah in Chandler and Diaw

This works for everyone except it leaves us with a one year rental with Boozer and a pick

BRNC
12-15-2009, 10:23 PM
Uh...if we got Hill and a first what would it matter...and I'm not in any way sure Utah would do that deal...

But let me add that I like the trade for us...

no way ny is involved with a trade that involves their ex-lottery pick being swapped to another team plus this years busted #8 pick. especially if they are not unloading curry or jefferies. their fans would destroy them.

no trading Jax now,
how about straight up dj or acie for jordan hill
i would hate to give up on dj but as history would have it most of our draft picks don't turn out doing good for us except Ray who is turn out fine. of all the pre-LB era draft picks Ryan Hollins and Jared Dudley are progressing after being traded away. I hated giving up on Adam and Sean, but I don't regret it. I would hate giving up on DJ but bizness is bizness. I think Acie would help us more now than DJ, but DJ will bounce back hopefully.

As far as Lexy, keep him up in Maine for a while if not the whole season, then bring him back next season to backup Nazr and TC and buries Diop so far on the bench it would like the neglect of a that handicap step kid that you leave in the room when company comes over.

Don't trade anything with NY unless we are dumping Diop or getting Lee or maybe Al. that's it. Being they may not do it they can just trade us Hill

Skipped reading to see if anyone has mentioned this but I feel priority number one (close to getting a backup PF) is unloading Diop and maybe even Diaw. The two of them collectively will make over $15 million next year, or 25% of our cap. It sickens me to think we have Diop on the books at 10% of our salary cap alone thru 2013!!!

Now this player isn't my favorite by any means.... but what could be a realistic scenario moving Diop to Philly and getting Samuel Dalembert in return? He has pretty good Boards/Blocks per 48 mins and would give us a true big man (Center/PF). Could even allow TC to move to PF more.

Diop-Diaw-Augustin for Dalembert? Or if Diop is such deadweight perhaps even Diaw-Augustin for Dalembert.

Oft-mentioned on the boards is we almost had this guy before we acquired Jax with the same Vlad/Raja package.

BRNC
12-16-2009, 12:27 PM
The only way to unload Diop is taking a contract back that is worse than his...we gain nothing...and Sammy would bring a "crap" attitude as will as a BBIQ less than a blade of grass...so we then have more dead weight...we'd have been better off with Hammer sitting on the bench with a smaller contract...but we have Diop but without an attitude problem...so we bring in an even larger dead-weight contract and an attitude problem with Sammy...I know I'd pass...just like the other 29 teams that the 76s have tried to dump him on...

superb1
12-16-2009, 12:39 PM
maybe WHEN make the playoffs, we can play Diop a few minutes and everyone here can rave how he was a big part of our success. Then some dumb@ss will think so and trade for him next year. I can only dream huh.

BRNC
12-16-2009, 12:45 PM
Not a bad dream though...we can only hope he "shows up" at some point to increase his trade value...the only other way to "dump" is when another team desperately wants a player in a trade and we make them take Diop with that player...but the guys other teams want right now are not players we are willing to trade...so sit on him (Diop) for now or take back a contract worse than his...I'm for sitting right now...
