View Full Version : Boris Diaw Can't Dunk

Seriously, can anyone remember seeing Boris dunk a basketball? I can't.
Dnbman and I were having this discussion at the Arena during the Knicks game. Dnbman PROMISED that BD would prove me wrong during that very game. I think he knew better and was just messing with me though. Of course, Boris didn't dunk. He can't.
I contend that Diaw is the most Under-The-Rim player in the NBA. He's definitely the starting PF on the UTR All-Star team, at least.
That's not to take away from the fine minutes he might otherwise give us; occasionally shooting, passing or even rebounding. He definitely takes up space, for sure.

Don't remember the game, but he definitley dunked as a member of the Bobcats last season. It was a road game, post-All Star break. It was a rather historic moment which makes it surprising I can't remember the team...

lol....I remember the night Boris dunked. It was back in '88, a Tuesday I think. The boys were just having some fun on the pavement behind the Dairy Queen when it went down. Some of us still aren't sure it actually happened, but Bo and Fartie swear it did; and you don't mess with Bo and Fartie.

Well...if it was a road game Rufus could not have given him his little trampoline...LOL
it was the washington game the one during our playoff run.

He even has won a slam dunk contest back in France.

He does try to finish soft to much but I have seen him dunk several times. Boris has not been consistent this year but some games he has been very good. I still like him better then S. Jackson, who takes some very ill advised shots.

Not sure about his ability to dunk, but he sure has a damn hard time finding a rebound!

Boris couldn't even out jump Troy Murphy last night for a rebound. There were atleast 4-5 times Murphy got the rebound over slow unathletic Boris. I swear I can't see why so many people thought he was a good player.

But look at the "team" we had last year. If he was at all productive he was a All Star to us. Last year he still didn't play hard ever game... just a couple here and there. Enough to make the fans think he was basketball Jesus in the flesh.
We were bamboozled, run amuck, lead astray, We didn't land on Plymouth rock....Diaw & Sean May landed on us.

In Diaw's defense....Murphy is a pretty good rebounder though.
The main problem with Diaw's rebounding is effort. You have to overcompensate when you are less athletic. I just don't see Diaw wanting to give what it takes to rebound.

He was a good player because what he provided our team last year was a nice contrast to what Mek did. Now that Mek is gone and we have no inside presence, we're stuck with two guys down low that aren't worth diddly poo

Either the French play on eight foot rims or Boris Diaw is really holding out on us.

Possible third option: the shitty camera angle is concealing a trampoline that was placed under the basket.
I really like Diaw and think that he has a rather impressive skill set but he just doesn't give a damn. I don't know what it would take to light a fire under him but I hope that Larry discovers the secret.

He has never been one of the guys who is all ripped up and he is a little FAt right now even for him, but he still has one of the best shooting % and 3% on the team. Also don't look now but ray is shooting .40 from 3. Boris played in the euro thing he may be taking it easy in this part of the season a bit to be good for the playoff run. He does need to play better but he doesn't totally suck.
And yes we have missed Mek because he boxed out well and did a few things, but he was never going to win a championship for us. He is really the perfect back up center, he should find a way to get to the rockets which is like a team of all perfect backup type guys that is somehow unstopable all together. The bottom line for us was we don't need an overpaid undersized center that looks like he feels sorry for himself when he goes vs the dwight howards and yao mings of the league. Nor did we need a PF who was unwilling to leave the paint on D for any reason.
Now we have 4 centers. Chandler who isn't strong enough to really box out and gets pushed around vs some big guys. Naz who has been pretty good but doesn't give us the minutes oak did. Diop, a player who moves in slow motion. And Ajinca who is in the D league.
Also I do think he is still pissed off about bell. Give the guy a little time he will get over it.

Boris Diaw's Fade Out - QCH (http://www.queencityhoops.com/DepreciationOfDiaw.php)
Last night against Indiana, Boris had 59 opportunities to grab a rebound (http://www.queencityhoops.com/gamePage.php?team=CHARLOTTE&date=20091216) - 33 offensive chances, 26 defensive - and he managed ZERO.
I'm done with Diaw He hasn't shown any effort this year

Very good analysis. He seems to have been emotionally affected by the trade and his effort on the boards has dropped significantly. Is it time to demote him to the 2nd unit and dust Diop off and get some use out of him?

Sources told the Washington Times that teams have begun inquiring about players, specifically Antawn Jamison, but president Ernie Grunfeld is waiting for the return of Mike Miller in the next few weeks.
IF THE BOBCATS COULD TRADE FOR ANTAWN JAMISON THEY WOULD BE AN INSTANT PLAYOFF TEAM
JAMISON IS BALLIN' RIGHT NOW!
WHAT DO U GUYS THINK??!??

I think it'd be a great win now move, but he's old and is due for a decline in production, and his contract is kind of unfriendly. I'd look to send them something like Diaw/DJ/Diop/Lexy for Jamison/Blatche/Stevenson. We take on more contract years but we also get Blatche in the eal who will fill in for Jamison when he retires. Dunno if they'd do it though

He had seven rebounds in the 4th quarter of a game recently (think it was the ny game) and we don't win the philly game without him. Not fair to say he has not shown any effort.

Felton has played pretty good lately so I have to focus my anger on someone and Boris is doing his very best to make sure he stays in the litter box.
Have ya'll noticed that when the other team fast breaks and Boris is in backcourt He puts up no effort to defend that man , Usually gets a weak silly foul. And 1...
He doesn't rebound, Tyson's weak ass boxes out better then him. He's too finesse, on both ends. He seems out of the flow of the offense. since Capt. Jac took contol of the ship Boris just wonders around, Looking lost.
His low post Defense is holding his arms straight up, Which I have no problem with but sometimes Putting your arms straight up isn't enough. Jump yell something, Wavy ya hands around. Something. He looks fat and slow.
Hate the Dr. J hold the ball in one hand while driving to the basket move he does.
Do Better Boris, Before I call Natasha and we Rocky & Bullwinkle that left and right eye after the next game in the parking lot.

I talked some about his attitude (and Suns fans talked more about it) after the trade...I don't think any pros like it when a friend is traded and I imagine many of or guys were not crazy about EO50 being traded...not unusual for teammates to be friends...that said...
I'm sure Diaw was not "excited" when Raja was traded nor when AA was shipped to the D-League...for me (and one reason why I've never cared for him) it is like this...Ray and Crash are pros every night...and they've both had friends leave this team...they still show up and play every night...
Even before Raja and AA (IMO) Diaw was kinda showing up every 2-3 games if we were lucky...now it is like he "phones" it in...so...couple of his friends are not here now...still show up and be a pro dude...oh...sorry...you only kinda did that before they left...
I know I'm being hard on him because I've never liked the guy as a player...and now you know why I've never liked the guy as a player...
