We are a great defensive team now, but there is a lot of room for improvement if we can stop giving up so many bunnies and open 3's due to overhelping. I think the real reason we have had quite a few losses this year including last night is we have not been playing D the way we know we can. In a lot of cases to many of our guys try to help at the same time. Last night for example TJ ford would drive drawing every defender on our team and kick it out for wide open 3's. We only need one or at most two guys to help on a drive like that. This team has some good one on one defenders we don't need to help so much.

If a team has a stud or a guy is killing us then help, but we need to make a player prove that he can beat us before we start running all these extra guys at him.

Gerald is one of the best help defenders in the game. He needs to be matched up on a poor shooter so he can roam more. Jackson, Felton, and Diaw are good on ball. TC needs to spend more time at the PF when we face a drik or chris bosh.

When healthy (I think it was pretty obvious something was wrong with Felton last night) we are an excellent man defending team as we really have no weak links. What we sucked at last night (and I've seen us do much better) was helping off picks. I remember one play last night where TJ went around a pick which was Boris' man and Boris backed right into the path Felton was using trying to get around the congestion.

Hate to keep banging on Boris...but he plays a critical position on the defense as his guy is usually setting picks and more times than not his guy can hit a perimeter shot. Hard to overcome when he's not playing up to par.

Well if we can get to the line like we have been doing and can stop giving up 8-9 three's EVERY NIGHT then we should be pretty good. TC and Boris played pretty good the past two games and have stayed out of foul trouble for the most part. As long as that continues we will be a lot better then in the past.
