View Full Version : Trade Idea: Diaw for David Lee

Since D'Antoni loves Diaw so much, I think this deal could work. I haven't looked at the salaries but I'm sure it's workable somehow with the pieces each team has. It's clear Diaw has started to mail it in since we got Jackson.
I'm fine with a guy not being overly emotional, but Diaw isn't just non-emotional, he's pouting. And when he is not the focal point of the offense he is garbage... A PF who's soft, passes first, and doesn't rebound when the offense doesn't run through him.
I think we could trade Diaw for Lee straight up and it could do wonders for our offense. Lee hustles and plays with heart, I think that's exactly what we need from our 4 spot now that we have Jack. I know there were rumors of trading Diaw to NYK last year, so I hope they would still be interested...
Right now, the front court is killing us with Chandler and Diaw playing like YMCA regulars... I'd say to let things play out and see what happens but they are just bringing the entire team down with their lack of effort.

BS.
Lee is overrated and only puts up 18/10 because of the d'antoni inflation effect. Besides him, no one on their team grabs rebounds and he doesn't play a lick of defense.
We should rather package Diaw and Chandler for an All-star caliber PF and let Nazr start as our center.

I don't know. I used to think Lee was only effective due to D'Antoni as well, and that may be true to a certain extent, but after watching him a few games, I'm convinced he'd be a productive player anywhere. He's got nice touch around the rim and he hits the boards hard. The effort and hustle that Proudiddy eluded to would translate well anywhere. He may not put up 18/10 on another team, but he's a quality player. There's no way this trade would ever happen, but I'd certainly take him.

Diaw and Chandler aren't worth an all-star caliber PF. And Lee still averaged 11 and 9 in 29 minutes before D'Antoni, and that's when he was still learning the game and becoming a stronger player. Let's say Lee is only as good as his pre-D'antoni numbers suggest, and give him Diaw's 34 minutes a game; he would average roughly 12 and 11, far more productive than Diaw Lee would be a perfect fit.

Lee averaging 11 boards a game as a Bobcat is a little bit of an overstatement. You have to realize he only averages 10 a game on one of the fastest paced teams in the league, as a center, with not a single rebounder around him.
Lee, in the place of Diaw, would probably average around 13.5 pts, 8 rebs, and some unsightly defense.
In spite of everything, NY is not taking on any contracts. Our best shot at bringing in Lee would probably be to trade Diaw for some expirings and make an offer this off-season.
The Knicks will not take anyone that does not have an expiring contract...period...why are folks having trouble getting this?
...and if D'Antoni loved Diaw so much why have they tried to get DJ not Diaw? Because Walsh knows he is over-payed with a mediocre (at best) attitude and thinks conditioning is for the "chumps" in the NBA....

Why is it that anytime someone thinks of a trade, you are always against. Anyway, it would be cool to see Diaw or Chandler leave or maybe both of them at the same time. :D

Chrystos...Like to add an apology...I know you were talking to Schnitzel3 but most of us want any combination of Diaw/Chandler out of here...sorry I let my frustration about those guys blow up and hope I did not offend you...
