View Full Version : Detroit Pistons at Charlotte Bobcats 12/22/09

I didn't see a thread started for the game tonight, but just glancing at the web before I jet out of the office there are some injury issues.
Bobcats: Stephen Jackson is active, probable because of his back spasms, he has said he will play. Gerald Wallace found the Advil and will play tonight with his headache alleviated. Flip Murray is out with a sprained ankle.
The Pistons have more issues: Ben Gordon and Rip Hamilton practiced Monday, but John Kuester didn’t seem to take that as any indication either of them would play tonight. Villanueva and Bynum are probable, but slowed by plantar fasciitis and a twisted ankle respectively.
So at the Christmas break guys are starting to get nicked up a bit. I see this one hopefully going down in the Bobcats favor with their home cookin and hopefully a lot of energy in the arena tonight.
Our roads are so bad up here I'm skipping the game...no way to get my tickets to anyone...at least no way I know of...shame since I think we'll actually win this one but oh well...

The very, very good Need4Sheed.com has the enemy's game thread (http://need4sheed.com/2009/12/the-pistons-vs-the-bobcats-2.html).

The thing about us being open for 3s though is that the guys feel stupid passing up a wide open one and if they're not falling Detroit will slowly creep back into it if we're not careful

Crash was just outstanding!

well a wins a win so its all good, wallace... what can you say the mans a beast. didnt get to see much of acie, UPS and nothing of Hendo which is dissapointing, jax played okay shame about the 5 turnovers, nazr almost notching up a double double, felton and his 8 assists was good to see.. and then we get to diaw and chandler... well im not even gonna waste my breath on them.. should have been a more comfortable win but when your 10 - 16 youve gonna take a win however they come.:)
spectre...Jax looks like he is still hurting to me...I'm not much for giving guys passes...but he did look hurt...I kinda hoped he'd sit out the second half...
Marvel
12-22-2009, 09:27 PM
I hate Diaw..........good win, Crash was MVP, TC stinks, Hendo didn't play although he should have if we didn't let them back in the game and we had 20 TOs but just 12 points off,Detroit had 15 and just 14 off i'm surprised we won this game at all really. We won which is good ugly but hey...
...kinda pitiful to play that good in the first half...and that bad in the second...but we needed the "W"...
playoffs...PLAYOFFS?
12-22-2009, 09:29 PM
anyone else who was watching it on the internet hear the announcers comment on acie law's contract? they said that he would be used to facilitate a trade again
I heard that...I wonder if they've heard something?
spectre
12-22-2009, 09:34 PM
Yeah I know BRNC, just saying that was a big reason we didn't take these guys out like we should have.
Not ready to trade him just yet! :p
Y'all might want to bust on TC but at least he's learned not to foul out and he's a presence. If he's out for a while it'll hurt us...esp. when Gana is the guy taking up TC's minutes.
Well...we only have LB to thank for Gana...but I'd still make "my" OKC trade (if OKC would) of Ty and AC or Hulk for Collison and E. Thomas...I could live with Thomas backing up Nazzy...
Problem is OKC just traded for Maynor...I doubt they're in the PG market any longer...but they still want a defensive center...

Two quotes of note--
Brown on all the Pistons' injuries:
I look at it as a good thing. They're developing the young guys and when they come back they're going to be off and running. Then why can't he develop our young guys?
Brown was talking to reporters after shootaround when Hamilton walked by.
Greatest coach of all-time right there,
Ass kisser
swedd that "...developing young guys..." quote threw me also...made me wonder if LB is even aware that we have young guys to develop...:g:

Happy to check the scores just a second ago and see a rare win for the Cats. Gave my tickets to a friend who is a Pistons fan, and after looking at the boxscore, hopefully he'll forgive me; it read as if it was a terribly played game with TOs out the yin-yang for both squads. As usual Gerald put up All Star numbers and it appeared Jack played very well despite lingering back issues. Otherwise, hate to see the TOs mounting again for Raymond...hopefully this too shall pass, and another DNPCD for Henderson. Way to go, Larry; you draft a dude who you say is "NBA ready" in favor of someone who has more potential yet is very raw like Jrue Holiday and he's getting DNPCDs out the ass?!?!? If you're around this summer, how about staying the hell out of the draft room, huh?

Jax and Wallace turn the ball over more than Ray. Also most of the time Diaw turns it over more as well. I was glad to see Ray try to get every one else involved and only put up 8 shots and shot 50% from the field with 8 assists and 2 steals after having shot 11 for 22 on Sunday. He is beginning to make the proper adjustments to help the Bobcats win. I think if you check your point guard turnovers in the league, you will see that Steve Nash, Deron Williams, Tony Parker, Rajon Rondo, Jason Kidd, Baron Davis all turn the ball over more than Ray. The thing you don't want Ray to do is turn the ball over senselessly.
LOL. We call that karma where I come from. Try to talk shit back to Gerald again and see what happens next ;)

Jason Kidd: 9.3/2.46= 3.78
Rajon Rondo: 9.7/2.58= 3.76
Steve Nash: 11.4/3.71= 3.07
Deron Williams: 10.2/3.35= 3.04
Baron Davis: 7.5/2.56= 2.92
Raymond Felton: 5.1/2.42= 2.11
Tony Parker: 5.7/3.29= 1.73
He may have less turnovers, but that doesn't mean his assist/turnover ratio is better. He only ranks in ahead of Tony Parker of the guys on your list.

Chrystos...he played like crap...he also left in the 3rd qt. with a sprained ankle...
He wasn't hurt, Brown took his ass out after he fumbled another pass. Then on the next play he got called for a stupid foul. As useual he cryed about the call til Brown took him out . He says after the game his toe is hurting and he couldn't move well. Face it he just got tired of me calling him a bum last night.
JAX was in some big time pain last night . I don't know how he gutted it out . He is one tough sob for sure . He could hardly stand up out of a chair . It would take him three steps just to get walking. Great effort.
Wallace was just a beast [ALLSTAR] be sure to vote ever day . Hes playing like a top five player in the league right now.
Felton if nothing else he is playing smarter this year . Not forcing shots and shooting the best precentage of his carer . Chandler and Diaw hurt his assist to turnovers. TC can't catch a damn ball. And Borris is sceard to shoot the ball . Boris thinks hes the point guard and passes the ball back to Felton about ever time with the clock is running down . Forcing another bad pass.
Brown clearly his no confidence in his rookies or he would have played them last night. DJ i noticed last night has to have more burn to be effective. Long term hes never going to be very good playing 15 or less a game . With Felts starting is a problem i don't know a solution to .
Brown has to much confidence in Graham . When Hendo would be just as effective and has much more up side. Flip wasn't missed and would be a nice trading chip along with Law . Does that net us a power foward i don't know.
Nazz played like a professional again . Proving give time he can post decent numbers . He needs to be playing at least 20 ever night . With DIOP BACKING HIM UP .
No one wanted to pass to Chandler last night and one could see tension . Putting him on the inactive list or trading him would be best . Though i don't know any one ready to take on his contract.
Be sure to fill out ALL STAR balots as much as you can im over 500 so far . Hope to hit 2000 be for JAN 1Oth. You can pick up as many as you can carry one game and take them back the next game so vote .
dav...nice post...announcers said TC tweaked his ankle...I assumed they knew what they were talking about...either that or my hearing is really gone:biggrin:
Jax looked like he was in pain...too bad that he, Crash, and Ray seem to be our only starters that can "gut it out"...

That is great. He has a better assist to turnover ratio than one of the premier point guards. My thing is that a turnover is a turnover no matter who it is. Ray also does not lead the bobcats in turnovers. I hate it when he has unforced turnovers, but he has improved so much but so many people make light of his increased fg percentage and increase in steals. He is an improved player.
Jason Kidd: 9.3/2.46= 3.78
Rajon Rondo: 9.7/2.58= 3.76
Steve Nash: 11.4/3.71= 3.07
Deron Williams: 10.2/3.35= 3.04
Baron Davis: 7.5/2.56= 2.92
Raymond Felton: 5.1/2.42= 2.11
