Help me out people, Was it worth it?
Yes. Definite yes. If you've enjoyed James Cameron's films over the years, you're going to enjoy this. Good acting all around, memorable characters (especially the colonel), amazing special effects and cgi (oscar worthy imo), and a pretty epic battle. The story itself is one you've probably seen or read before but its still good.

2 hours and 40 minutes? If that's a serious issue for you Zig, than maybe not.
I dunno though, when I saw it I felt I wanted to stay there forever; not merely a couple or three hours. I still wanna go back.
Go see it immediately Zig. Don't pass on the 3D either. I'm not generally a fan of 3d, but THIS 3d is beautiful. Not gimmicky; beautiful.
The story is Dances with Wolves in space, very simply put; nothing extraordinary there. Likewise, one human "bad" guy in particular is a very toony character; but otherwise? Whoa this is one Amazing experience.

Thanks for the recommendation guys!
I just got back from the theater and this was a great flick. The visuals were great, the 3D wasn't over the top, it didn't feel like an almost 3 hour movie at all.
... if only we could have got a little more blue alien boobage though :g:

I asked for prescription 3D glasses with tortoise shell frames for Xmas, but didn't get them. Shucks.
Everyone thought I was kidding. You'd think by now they'd know me better.

Saw it tonight at IMAX, and that was the first time I'd ever been.
Freaking fantastic. The movie was really good, but the IMAX experience made it phenomenal!
I need me one of those!
Avatar ruled.
I just wished they made the military guy a little less cliche. That was pretty much my only complaint.

I agree. However, as political opinions and world views by the general public become increasingly cliched and shallow, I think the representation works. Just when you think "nobody really thinks like that," you overhear someone at the next table say the very thing.
I really enjoyed the movie, much more for its vision and execution than for its originality. Great movie.

The whole movie was cliche, generic, and I would even say gimmicky.
