The East is so bad, I don't think it's possible to tank anyway - the competition is just too stiff at the bottom of the conference

Whoa what a surprise. When it was reported that Chandler was out a week, I thought, well that's ok, TC will come back all better and lead us to the playoffs.
No wait, I didn't think that. Actually I thought he was effectively done for the season. Since when does a "stress reaction" in your foot get better in a week?I get a stress reaction in my stomach every day I go to work. Taking a week off definitely helps, but as soon as I go back; there it is again.
This can't be good. As frustrating as TC was, he's critical to this team. Bad back, bad foot - okay he IS Mr. Glass after all. The Cats summer trade is a bust. That's a shame.

This team has had fantastic opportunities to tank for years and blown it everytime. I'm still pissed at Walter Hermann for costing us Durant. This is always the team that gets the draft pick that's just a few after the obvious great picks, and then whiffs on the less obvious. This year looks consistent with that.
They're not tanking.
I can't say that I've ever felt excited about a Bobcats draft pick. That's pretty bad for an expansion team this far along.
Heck, I think the last Charlotte pick to do that was Alonzo Mourning. That sure turned out well. Then their was that kid Kobe Bryant that they picked and then traded for that big Euro. I love the NBA draft.

Good posts, Keetch. I don't agree with all of the things you wrote about the draft, but yea... we're definitely not tanking.

What the hell are you talking about? Tanking mode? I dont really say this much but gtfo.
This is really insulting to say we are tanking. Gerald, Stephen Jackson, and Raymond are going out their every night fighting to get a win. I think everybody on this team is constantly showing some effort. Even Diaw. Even Tyson. Do you really think he would have took what Gerald said the way he did if he didnt give a shit? We, the fans put extremely high expectations on Tyson and they arent happening. Whose fault is it that Tyson turned out not to be the basketball Jesus we all believed he would be? His for not being it or us for believing it?
The trade was done primarily to get out of Okafor's long contract and to get a Larry Brown type of player (something Okafor could never be) in return. Tyson has always had injury problems, why are you so suprised? That being said, Tyson still does certain things for us. Him being gone another week will hurt us, but it wont kill us.
And how do you see us tanking? Do you really think Gerald will throw in the towel? Do you really think Stephen will throw in the towel? Do you really think Raymond will throw in the towel? Do you think Larry Brown, hungry for success and hungry to get back into the playoffs will instruct the entire team to throw in the towel? HELL NO THEY WONT.
Our 3 leaders Gerald, Stephen, and Raymond will play hard and set the example of how the playing will be done: hard. And Larry will coach them to play the right way, like he always has. If people like Boris dont want to try hard, they will get traded or cut. But they will play hard. Boris is starting to look like he found his place in the offense. DJ is getting back into form. Flip and Stephen Graham are trying their best to establish themselves in the roles Larry has (unfairly?) given them. Nazr and Diop are both putting in work when they get playtime. Derrick Brown, Acie Law, and Gerald Henderson are all fighting for a spot in the rotation.
So when you say our team is going to tank just because Tyson Chandler isnt going to play, you really push my buttons. This is a fight of flight time for our team. You think they will choose flight and give up. That to me says you dont have faith in this team's ability to pull through in any situation. I say they fight and play even harder to make up for Tyson's absence. But opinions are like assholes, everybody has one and you can keep yours.

Tyson is good on the offensive boards but lately I'm not to upset about Diop or Nazzy. They are both old and slow but they get the job done like Juwann Howard. We only really had Tyson for this year and if he can't play it's not going to be the worse loss on the team. Not when we can bring Ajinca up to get the same 2 pts and 2 rebounds Tyson was getting.

Well if Diop is actually going to be a factor (who'd a thunkit?), then maybe TC is less important.
At any rate, tanking is out of the question.

The fact is, and it is indisputable fact, Gana's BBIQ is light years ahead of Chandler's. Much better screen-setter with our guys; makes great high-low passes to guys either cutting underneath or guys who've sealed their man off underneath; and, most important of all, doesn't turn the ball over senselessly!!!
Hell, he's even a better, more consistent at least defender and rebounder, and their offensive game is pretty much even. The only area in which Chandler is significantly better than Gana is at the stripe.
TC can be out for the year and I'm wearing a shit-eatin' grin......and that's not only because of any personal animus, it's because we are in fact better off without him. Let the record show and all that.....

I cosign that. We may not be a winning team but I can proudly say that we are one of those teams who goes out every night and give it our all. We dont step down from the big teams. Besides does tanking always work? NO. The Thunder have done a good job with it but it hasn't helped a lot of teams. Besides who tanks in January? Even the worst teams in the league dont. Especially not one like us who can actually make the playoffs.
TANKING IS FOR COWARDS
