Two NBA general managers predict that commissioner David Stern will push for a hard salary cap once the Collective Bargaining Agreement re-opens in the summer of 2011. The league wants to better help teams save money while leveling the playing field league-wide. One of the GMs said such a hard cap would be gradually implemented. “I don’t know where it goes, but the players have to realize that teams are losing too much money,” one GM said. …

This would be huge.

...starting to look like a lock-out is inevitable...I doubt the players are going to embrace a hard cap...

Seems odd for a guy who lets the Celts and Lakers win every year to try for parity, but I applaud him...as long as it's near the current lux tax.

Im not gonna believe anything until I see it happen. David Stern is like Bud Seling. Anything he says my ears are automatically programed to ethier ignore it or not belive it.

I'm assuming a Hard Cap is what the NFL has in place?

Yes. you can spend however much you want, but you cannot go over the final limit. Teams are usually anywhere from 100k to 15 million below the cap.

And hopefully this will do away with the MLE's and BAE's and stuff like that.
