I'm looking forward to this game more than any non-Halo game in a long time.

I'm planning on it. I loved the 1st one, so I'm all for getting this. Plus, they've added some good things to it.

HA! Yeah, well, I'm enough of an ME dork that I've got the Collector's edition of the first game, both novels, and am collecting the comic series..........however, even though I've preordered the Collector's edition of 2, I won't have a 360 to play it on as my disk drive is shot to hell and won't read a damn thing. Guess I'll ship the sonofabitch out early next week, but no way will I get it in time to play ME2 when it arrives. You'd think a system that puts out such quality games would put out a quality piece of hardware to play said software.....oh well, I guess that's too much common sense

Due to me being a retard and buying NBA2k10, I haven't even finished Dragon Age: Origins that I bought a while ago since NBA is sucking up my time.
On another thought, I rather save up for FFXIII then go and buy ME2, just don't have enough money to go around
*stares at Uncharted 2 and cries*

FFXIII is coming out till later this year right? But yeah I had to hold off on Dragon Age in order to afford ME2. But just as ME2 is about to come out I discover NBA2k10's My Player mode is a lot of fun.

I've been killing time with a couple of old games ( Crackdown, Dead Space ) for the past few weeks because I didn't really want to start on something new because I knew that once Mass Effect 2 is released, that was going to be all that I'm playing for a while.

How good is Dead Space! Right now I'd say Mass Effect and it are my favorite sci-fi series.

^ Dead Space has a great underlying story (check out the prequel comics first), but the way it's executed in-game leaves much to be desired.
Still, it's a great sci-fi/horror experience.

Dead Space is very good, and absolutely the scariest game that I've ever played.
It's great to play it at night in the dark with the surround sound up

Still, it's a great sci-fi/horror experience. Right on, bing!! I loved that comic with the Templesmith art. The anime video which was also a prequel was pretty good story-wise, though the animation was not of the best quality. I'm enough of a dork I bought the Wii mainly so I could play the Wii-exclusive Dead Space: Extraction which was actually a lot of fun too, though, obviously couldn't compete graphically with the other consoles or PC.
So of course I'm getting pumped for the sequel coming out this fall. Read it's supposed to have a multiplayer element.....not so sure how that'll turn out, but definitely looking forward to once again assuming the role of that poor schmuck, Isaac Clarke.

A little trivia that may contain a spoiler if you haven't completed the playthrough.......so you're warned....

If you take the first letter of each of the 12 chapter titles it spells "Nicole is dead" Don't remember where I read it, but thought it was pretty cool.

The one thing that drives me the most to play ME2 & DS2 is the notion of a higher species meddling with the affairs of humans (whether knowingly or not)... though the one in DS seems to be benevolent (suppression of the viral form).
Also, I can't wait for later this year too check out how the Xel'Naga epic progresses in Starcraft 2... to hell with my personal life, bring on the expansion set for Dragon Age and Bioshock 2.
4 more days, baby! (US import)... hate how Europe always falls behind.
If you need anything else to get you pumped for Mass Effect 2, just watch this.

Wow, Mass Effect 2 is incredible. They've improved everything from the first game. Seriously if you have any interest at all for this game, go buy it.

It's easy to play on the 360, I'm not so sure how it is on the PC but bing can probably speak to that.

Keyboard + mouse combo always beats gamepads in rpg-esque games (plenty of hotkeys to go around) :)

BIOSHOCK 2!!!!!!!!
I kid you not, I had a tear or two stream down my face during the closing montage of the first one. That game, holy crap, it was just so emotionally investing, dripping with atmosphere, and one of the greatest (and smartest) plot twists in ANY MEDIUM. If anyone has never played the game, you must do yourself the favor....it is that good!!! The sequel can't possibly top it, but I hope it adds to the fantastic mythology of Rapture without ruining anything that has come before. Based on early reviews, I think they did quite well!
And then Dante's Inferno comes out the same day, Feb. 9!!! While the English lit major in me is offended by the errrrrr :airquote:historical inaccuracies:airquote: of the game, I played the demo, and it is just freakin' gorgeous and fun to play. I mean, it's another God of War riff to be sure, but it's just such a gorgeous looking game and fun to play, and does have appear to have literary accuracy in terms of the circles of hell in being how Dante the poet detailed them in his epic.
So geez, 3 games I'll have by the time my Xbox returns, which to start on first :g:
And then Hard Rain comes out the 26th I think. Shit, 2010 is already a better year for games in it's first 6 weeks than '09 was in 12 months (love you MW2 and Uncharted 2 and Borderlands....but really).

Beagle,
I played the first Bioshock maybe 1/3 of the way through, and I always felt so depressed after playing the game that eventually I never picked it back up.
Should I gut it out and finish it ( After Mass Effect 2 of course  )

Completely OT, but what type of jobs can you get with an English Lit degree? I don't mean to sound rude or anything Beagle (you know I have all the respect in the world for you) but it seems like one of those degrees like Philosophy that doesn't really have much of a targeted group of jobs

Yeah, ziggy, it is a very dark game, but it's definitely worth a playthrough if you get the time. It's very similar to Dead Space (but with a much better story, IMO), and knowing you loved that game like I did, I know you'll get a kick out of finishing Bioshock!

Swedd:
You're absolutely right; it's a completely impractical degree much like philosophy, history, and really, most any of the arts. For as long as I can remember, I've always been skeptical of commercialism and reality, so for me, choosing to be an English major was an easy call. Hell, I enjoyed it so much I went to grad school to work on an MA in English, but without any real idea what I was going to do with it. I taught a little bit in high school and at some local tech and community colleges, but it was impossible to see myself doing this for any length of time without being bored to friggin' tears (a lot of days, I wouldn't even discuss any assignments or work with the kids: we'd just have open discussions on life in general, which was so much more fun and meaningful, I think, than the humdrum "book learnin'", but that's not going to get it done over the long haul, so......
Now, for someone with ambition, you can do quite a few things with a BA in English. I personally know a handful of guys who became lawyers who got their BA in English. Also, you can work on the editing side of the degree and get into any kind of journalism. Also, for folks who went to a college/university that don't have a "Business School", plenty of them get English BAs before going on to the ol' MBA.
But yeah, in terms of getting a degree in a field in which you actually utilize the subject matter to gain employment, the English BA is BS ;)

I completely understand, I'm a Freshman Poli Sci major and it's supposed to lead me to a graduate Law degree, but I've always wondered what I'd do with a degree like that if I were to fail the LSAT.
Back on topic, does anyone think MAG is going to be a good game? I've seen the commercials and I kinda like what I see, but I'm not sure

Back on topic, does anyone think MAG is going to be a good game? I've seen the commercials and I kinda like what I see, but I'm not sure From the reviews I've read, it's a great game in theory, but it's execution is flawed. It seems the problem is a decent amount of the folks playing it are just going at it as if it were Team Deathmatch instead of a tactically-heavy based team game that it is meant to be. Also, I think there are some who play without a mic, and this is a game that is big on communication. I wish they would've put a label on the game: "If you want to just run around killing other players, stick to COD; if you want to play a real team based shooter, buy MAG."
Hopefully, more and more serious players will weed out the clueless players, because I'm very interested in the game too, but if I want to play Team Deathmatch, I'm sticking with the best of the best in COD, not a massive clusterfuck which is what MAG can be at times.

Well I ventured through the Omega 4 Relay yesterday and finished this game up. I lost my entire crew except Joker, but only one of my core members got killed (Thane - The Assassin )
Anyone else wrapped it up? Were you able to do it without getting any of your crew or your main guys killed?

I saved my entire ship crew and lost Jack & Legion...
"... archival upload commencing... no carrier... no carrier... no carrier...", the bastard broke my heart. Couldn't care less for subject Zero.
Legion was, hands down, the best character in the game.

Well I'll be damned :g:. I brought the geth back aboard the ship and stored it, but never activated him. I had no idea that he could have been an actual member of the team.
I guess a 2nd play through is in order.
My favorite characters were Samara the Justicar and the Krogan Grunt. I thought the scene on the Krogan planet where the Krogan referred to humans as "fleshy things" and where he talked about "tank mother" was one of the best in the game.

anyone tried out the new mass effect 2 dlc that became available yesterday? I FINALLY started up ME2 the other night and I was floored at what happens at the beginning. Heard rumours, but didn't see it coming that early. Very early in my playthrough, but very cool meeting Tali and "Archangel" again, seeing how my ME1 playthrough does carry over, the graphics and the new weapons/suit upgrade system.
And yeah, I can't believe the new DLC is FREE!!! I thought BioWare kind of ripped folks off with the Dragon Age DLC coming out so soon after the release of the game (which is why I've yet to buy that one yet), but they've more than made up for it with ME2.
