View Full Version : Carlos Boozer or Antawn Jamison
Maybe I'm dreaming but I REALLY would like to see one of these two guys in a Bobcat uniform before the deadline. I think Boozer's a better fit and gives us the toughness we need, but Jamsion could spread the floor better and maybe could put a few more asses in the seats, what do you guys think?

Who would we actually give away?
Who would we actually give away?
Boris, Gerald, and a 1st or 2nd rounder
i wouldnt trade Hendo, he could turn out to be a good player.
Boris, Gerald, and a 1st or 2nd rounder
Henderson, that is
I'd rather get Boozer, since he's better and will be a FA, but I'd gladly take either over Boris, unless last game was the start of things to come (which I doubt).

I don't want to give up Hendo. Maybe cos I might be a Hendo supporter, but I don't want to give the kid up.
Can't people suggest Graham or something instead of always Henderson, then IDK whether it works with the salary cap and stuff, confuses me.
We wouldn't give a 1st or 2nd rounder in my opinion. For half a season rental, we're doing the good things by getting rid of Boozer. Should be them giving us a 1st/2nd rounder instead.
As for Jamison, I have no idea. Wizards want a complete overhaul of their team, IDK what they're doing.

That's a tough one. Conventional wisdom would say Boozer since he's 5 1/2 years younger, but he could walk at the end of the year. At least with Jamison we'd be guaranteed of benefitting from whatever he has left in the tank, and he hasn't really shown any signs of slowing down despite his age. All things considered, I'd probably go with Jamison.
I still have faith that Boris can turn it around though.

i would rather have boozer with the hopes of lb talkin to him and bein able to re-sign him since hes younger but i think both would be a upgrade over boris

Toocool it's a matter of value. Henderson was a 12th pick this year and still has potential...Graham was a undrafted FA that we decided to give a tryout to and then kept.
Tough to say. Are we just talking rental on Booz or are we bringing him in with the intent of re-upping him...a guy notorious for going with the highest bidder? I think he's going to get overpaid bigtime this year by teams who will miss out on the premiere FAs.
Jamison is already expensive and will be moreso as his skills will start to go downhill.
Boris, Gerald, and a 1st or 2nd rounder
boris and hendo: no draft pick for a 1 year rental on boozer
You have to look at Booz as just a rental until he puts pen to paper his word dont mean shit IMO, I still wouldnt give up Hendo.

Really tough call. On the one hand, I'd go Boozer - helps our cap situation, and we become a much more desirable location as a playoff team. Rebounds and scores at a high rate. The Homer in me says Jamison, I feel like he is one of this generation's most underrated players...he deserves to play for a team that can win it all.

Jamison is an undersized jump shooting big man, who doesn't play defense. At least Diaw has some post moves in his game, but Jamison is just too perimeter oriented. He won't help us at all. Oh, and he's already 34 and has 3 years left on his contract.
Boozer is the kind of player who could take us to the next level. Incredible post scorer who can draw double teams and can also pass the ball. Having Boozer in the post would create even more slashing opportunities for Crash and Ray.

He can't help us get to the next level if he isn't here beyond April. I agree, all things being equal, I'd rather have Boozer, but it's a little strong to say Jamison wouldn't help us at all. I think we could find a place for 22 and 8.

if we had a reliable backup 5 behind nazzy i would trade tc for boozer in a heartbeat.

Don't see either of those guys ending up here, in fact I think the Bobcats are done making moves for now...
But if i had to choose I would pick Boozer only because he would ensure that the Bobcats at least make the playoffs for the first time... (I think they will make it with or without him) And he might chose to stay here if you could pay him of course...
But like I said I can't see a package that either the Wiz or the Jazz would want from the Bobcats besides maybe G-Dub and we all know that ain't happening
What do you guys think about Troy Murphy?

Good 3pt threat (IIRC) and good rebounder. And didn't he play with Jax? Or am I wrong on that too.
Either way, he'd be a better PF than Diaw, but what would they want?

Neither.
Boozer will just dime and dash, we dont need a rental.
Jamison is a nice guy but his best days are behind him. Plus, he IS washington wizards basketball at this point, and i doubt they really are trying to trade him. But if they are, it wont be in-divison, because they wouldnt want that and neither would Jamison. It would probably eat away at him if he had to continiously face his old team, and when players slowly lose morale they end up like.........................................Boris Diaw or Tyson Chandler.
I think we need to stop looking for a big solution and just look for something small and obtainable that will fill our needs. Aka the D-League or a young bench player with potential we could trade a 2014 or further up second round pick for (in simmular faishon to the Hilton Armstrong trade)

Uhh, everyone's available there, and Jamison would have no qualms playing for UNC-pro and in his hometown, too. The only valid point is that he's past his prime.

I really dont believe that everyone is avaible. The media can say what they want, but in the end i really dont think the Wizards are desperate to trade any/everyone now when they cant get top value for their pieces. Plus it is a in-divison/in-season trade which makes it a double no-no.
I really dont think we need another big piece. We just need a guy that can fit the role of a banger/post player without requiring a bunch of shots. As far as im concerned they dont even need to start.

What do you guys think about Troy Murphy?
Love. Him. If I had to choose from the three I'd definitely take Troy. Blue collar guy that will bang and can shoot from anywhere on the floor.
My 2k10 fantasy drafted team:
Tony Parker
Eric Gordon
LeBron
Troy Murphy
Chris Kaman
;)
...of the three I'd rather have Murphy also...talk about a four that can spread the floor...
But, I've about convinced myself that our best route (my initial choice) is to trade for a solid back-up PF...with what we have to offer (and not hurt the current roster) I think it is probably (IMO) the best/only move we can make...
I love Jamisons game, but I really think Boozer would be a better fit for us if he signed a long term deal. I'd take either with open arms though!

A guy like Brandon Bass is what this team needs, if we could trade for Bass then we would a lock for at least the 5th or 6th spot
brandon bass would join diop as another overpaid big on the bobcats. if we are going to make a trade it either needs to net a high priced starting pf who contributes offensively like jamison, boozer or murphy or a lower priced contributing pf who will sure us up defensively and help gerald rebound.

how bout haslem...he's an expiring...a duo of diaw an haslem would b nice to have heading into the 2nd half of the year
maybe we could work out a 3 team deal with miami an utah that sends boozer to miami, haslem to us, but i dunno what to utah

He actually is probably the first guy they're trying to trade according to all of the insiders

give me one good reason utah would ever consider doing this??? no way do they want huge contracts in diaw and chandler....what about:
bobcats get- haslem
utah gets- henderson, dj, quentin richardson
miami gets- boozer, korver, lexy

That's a lot to give up for Haslem. Isn't he an expiring? He'd probably bolt us at the end of the year and go back to Miami.
maybe if we could figure out a way to get dequan cook with haslem. if we are giving up dj and gerald we need more than just haslem.

Maybe Diop, DJ, Hendo, AC Law for amare and some scrub filler
or Maybe TC, Flip and Hendo
don't know if Amare would resign however and he clearly wants more then the suns want to pay.

im not a huge fan of having amare come here...first of all, he sucks on defense, an yes i know some would say that diaw does too...but i see diaw buying into our game plan way more than id see amare doing...he just comes off as a prima donna...he's gunna want a lot of touches, so i dont know how that will mesh with gerald an jack's style of play...i mean look at whats happened to the magic with carter demanding the ball a lot
i dunno...maybe im wrong...plus could we afford to sign both amare an felton to long term deals?? thats another thing we would have to think about

Will never happen. If there would be any talk between us and the Suns, you can be sure that they want Crash in return.
and btw, Amare is overrated and I hate him.

I like the idea of Boozer over Antawn. First, Boozer is expiring, so this clears up cap space. Jamison has 2 years after this season. We have no picks this 2010 draft, so to improve over what we currently have, we need a FA signing. And since both Boozer and Antawn are on the downside of their careers, a rental for the playoffs is all I'd want. 2 years of Antawn will likely be a mistake. But making any trade matters about who we have to give up. It would likely be a hard deal to swing.

^ I thought about making this a new thread but with all the winning I doubt it'd get any real consideration.
http://www.bobcatsplanet.com/vb/showthread.php?t=9529
Look at that total salary for 2010/2011...59,789,925 for 10 players. If conventional wisdom is correct the cap will be around 54 million next season, and typically the luxury tax is about 12 more than that...so let's say 66 million for the LT.
66,000,000 - 59,789,925 = 6,210,075
DJ
Jax/Hendo
Crash/UPS
Boris/Ajinca
TC/Nazr/Gana
According to rumors Felton turned down 8 million per year. FWIW I absolutely do not buy that, but for discussion's sake if we allowed for 7 million we're over the LT by about 1 million bucks and we have all sorts of holes on the roster that must be filled.
Long story short; I expect a salary trade next season, giving up some potential (meaning DJ, Hendo & UPS) to move Gana's contract. If we could somehow deal for a guy like Boozer AND reduce next year's salary I think the FO would seriously consider it.

I totally agree. I've read often how the Bobcats are one of the worst-prepared franchises for the future because of some of the bad contracts we have. If something can be done to help this AND make this year's team better, I say go for it.
