View Full Version : BCP Make Love 2 Pressure Tshirt
This is mainly for Ziggy, but I figured other should chime in.
Ok. So Stephen Jackson makes love to pressure, right? We've got that figured out. And BCP hasn't had a new t-shirt since the diner one. Well, I got an idea. We need a Stephen Jackson t-shirt in the Obama "Change" style that says "Make love to pressure."
Like this:
http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x234/teejhoyt92/make-love-2-pressure.png
Then put it on a blue t-shirt with the BCP link on the back.
Other idea. You know how we have been lacking a nickname for Raymond since the beginning of his career, besides "that guy who doesn't pass at the end of the game"? Well, in honor of his increased accuracy, how about the Ray Gun? *crickets* okay, yeah, that sucked, but I had to have something interesting for you to open the post.

Felton, I don't know why but I call him several nicknames. Rayray, Felts, Tonberry.
As for the shirt? It's awesome. If we could get it made, I would buy it and you can send it over to Australia for me, I'll pay via paypal

Count me in for a large. That image is sweet.
Okay guys, I can get that shirt, with the picture going pretty much all the way across the front, and nothing on the back, for about $14 apiece cost to make if there's a solid ordering base. Now, it'd be a tiny bit extra for a BCP address on the back, and I'd need a permanent, no going back order from you guys to do it; how many are ordered changes the amount. The minimum buy is 6 shirts, which costs $35 per, and I'm not willing to do that, so I'd need a lot more. Maybe 20 or so? Also, there's the matter of shipping. They can ship them free to me, but I have to ship them, in some cases, international, to you guys, which is very expensive and risky. I'm open to ideas, but unless a TON of you want them, I can't see a way below $20 per shirt. Are you guys willing to do that?
PS: I've made shirts with this group before for school groups and such, they are very reliable and the most cost effective, and if you're wondering the shirt would be a Champion tagless Navy t.
Any questions or concerns? I really want to make these, but you guys have to help.
Is there any trouble that we can get into using Stephen Jackson's image without his permission though?
Jack? Not at all.
Bobcats/NBA/whoever took the pic? Maybe, but I highly, highly doubt they'd go after a couple kids (I'm 17, remember) making fan t-shirts and not earning any profit. They'd get negative press and turn away the few fans the Bobcats have. From a PR standpoint, as long as we aren't making money, which I certainly am not in it for, then they won't do anything, if they could, which I don't even know. It could be totally fair use, with no possible legal action if they wanted to. If it ever gets outside members of the forum, though, I'll run it by MT. But as long as it's just us, it's fine.
Edit: It's like the music industry. They aren't going after the neighborhood kids who copied each others cds onto each others iPods, theyre going after the bootleg cd sellers in China.

No I'm in HICK-ry. But I think the best way to take care of the distribution would be for either them to be shipped to Ziggy or to one of the STH's, but that'd be hard to coordinate. Maybe get them to Tattoed at the meetup game for most, and leave however many are necessary with a CLT BCP member? Then ship the rest out? idk. It doesn't matter until we place the order, so we have a little bit.

Teej, with the exception of the "2," I love the design for the shirt. Well done.
The use of the image is unquestionably a rights violation. It's not so much that you are NOT profiting on it so much as it can be proven to take away sales of licensed Bobcats merchandise. The possibility of adversely affecting sales is always the bottom line with copyright. Teachers even have to be careful of copyright for student handouts, and they get a special break for education reasons.
As far as your comparison to music, you're probably right that nobody would really care. However, Jackson, the Bobcats, and possibly the Players Association and the NBA could get upset about it. Print at your own risk!

The app I was using had a ten character limit.

Seeing as they have no sales to report, it doesn't matter. :p
All kidding aside, it's not a Bobcats image, and they haven't made any Jackson t-shirts. So I doubt they are affected at all by it, because those interested in buying a Bobcats team store tshirt aren't going to buy a BCP shirt, and vise versa. And as far as the rights violation, what about BCP's logo? But anyways...

Jackson couldn't do anything if he was upset (which I HIGHLY doubt. I think he'd laugh his ass off and be thrilled) because when he's out there, he signs off on any of his image being used by the NBA/Bobcats for their profit. Seeing as how it costs more than any of their t-shirts on a per shirt basis and there's no profit or "clean" version, I doubt the PA or NBA will do anything.
BTW. What about the fan t-shirts that Delonte's fans made about KFC or something? I know there are plenty of "fan" shirts. If I have to, I could fuzz over the Charlotte part of his jersey...

It doesn't matter if they have a sales report. It matters that you have made a product which competes with their POTENTIAL to make a profit. See Disney.

I think the BCP logo is a rights violation, but they clearly don't care or are looking the other way. If you notice, most legitimate sports sites have agreements with the league to use the logos and likenesses.

I also doubt the league or Jackson would do anything. But don't confuse response with the rule. Cops may not pull people unless they're going 10 over, but they can pull you for 1 over any day they want.
On a side note, Shepard Fairey is still in litigation over his use of the Obama photograph, which was taken in the open public.
Again, it's probably cool to print the shirts, but you don't have the legal rights to do so.

Regardless of our tshirts, because his image and design made a huge profit and were known around the world, I think that him even being brought in over it is insane. But that's just me. No reason to punish creativity.
And if the BCP logo is a rights violation too, then I don't see any problems in our future :). Ya know, it's illegal to let a minor smoke or drink, but you go to most families and that's occured. Or not paying full taxes. And on and on. People break laws without even knowing it. Because this country is effed up.

Below is the Cafepress version of this shirt in gray. I haven't had a chance to play with the shirt colors much, or add anything to the back, but it's still damned cool.
What do you guys think?
http://images7.cafepress.com/product/429564017v0_480x480_Front_Color-AshGrey.jpg
Okay, I worked on this at customink. Here's what I came up with. This is a Canvas Jersey T, which is one of the higher quality t's they have. Remember that when finished, the graphic will totally blend in with the t, and that they have a guy work on the image to match the t before it goes in. With all requests right now and a couple assumptions, it'd be $20 per person, not counting how we got it to you. But that's after one day, and it goes down in price as more people sign up. Ziggy, your (cafepress) move. :p

That's what I'm talking about, looks great, particularly since it'll all blend.
I'd like the artwork to be as big as is aesthetically acceptable. Not ridiculously huge, but large enough where it's all visible (and discernable) from a reasonable distance.
Aside from that, great job! That site seems reputable too.
EDIT: One last thing. In regards to WWW.BOBCATSPLANET.com on the back, I think it'd look great in white and in a font such as Helvetica, something simple and classy.

I'm about 5'8'' but I have a bit more of a muscular build and I generally have no issue with Medium sized T-shirts. But at the same time, I don't like baggy shirts.
