Being that this year we will not be making alot of noise talking who we should get in the draft. I don't plan for us to be planning for that except looking for another derrick brown like steal. I thought I look back on how we have done so far and what the draft have done for us.

Emeka Okafor What can I say, he was our franchise player and building block. I thought he was a safer pick than Dwight Howard, but the man child proved me wrong. Emeka had his plus and minuses. He was solid, gave you consistent numbers but never looked aggressive, ready to explode into a superstar. But as many employers do their year end evaluations, if a employee did not overachieve, kiss butt, or was a total screw, you got graded a C for average, because you never did anything to stand out. That's what Emeka seems to do. But since the Tyson-Emeka trade has not really look good for us talent-wise, I think I give this a C+

Bernard Robinson Not really going to spend a lot of time here, like he did. He was ok if not mediocre and he is not in the league presently. F+

Raymond Felton Raymond came in the league as the leftover of those three hot sisters down the street, you know what I'm talking about, not as fabulous looking as the other two but she will do. But I think that even though he may never be seen in the same light as Chris Paul, I think than being unofficial compared and molded into the Bobcats version of LB's Detroit Pistons' Chauncey Billups is not bad. B+

Sean May I had high hopes that drafting the third player to have just led their teams to a NCAA championship would have had a positive effect on our young team would have been good pick. But Sean is now only good for a good fat joke. We gave him chance after chance but well now he just a jester on the Kings court D-

Adam Morrison Another player I had high hopes for even after scratching my head on passing on Rudy and Roy (who care if he didn't want to play here, I was fearing a Kobe-Hornets episode 2) Well had a ok rookie year with glimse of brilliance. Then he got hurt and then our feeling got hurt when he began looking like a bust. After the NCAA game where he cried, I think Ammo is still crying, gotta be look at your career. D+ In retrospect, trading him brought us Radman, which we use to help gain us Stephen Jackson. So that pick itself is an A

Ryan Hollins I think even though he needed to add a little more weight that Ryan could have a good back-up for us. Much cheaper than Diop. C-

Brandan Wright Even though he never played a minute here, at times we needed him to suit up. But the trading of the pick has lead to us getting Jackson via Jason Richardson. We also netted Acie Law (former first rounder) and a Suns 2nd rounder too from the trade scraps. That alone could maybe possibly get us another future first rounder. A

Jared Dudley I did not know much of him when we drafted him but kind of wish we should have kept him. His high 3 pt % would have been great for team with the Jacksons, the Murrays, the Feltons and even the Augustins that would jack up shots in a second. Also the funny had a great personality and sense of humor. B-

Jermario Davidson Not much to say here, I don't think he is playing in the league. Has had some moments but not many. D-

DJ Augustin A lot of us were looking for Brook Lopez and scratch our heads when DJ was called. Hell we could reach as far as pick Jason Thompson too and would have not gone wrong. Let's hope that DJ is just going through a sophomore slump and will rebound and not be a Ammo type bust. I hope we can boost the Carolina/NBA version and the Panther's Double Trouble with Ray and DJ. so far C

Alexis Ajinca Many believed that if we truly screwed up the Augustin pick, then Ajinca would probably be someone else like Mario Chalmers or Courtney Lee. He is still developing , actually doing well in the D-League. Let's hope it the D-League has help his development and not become the precursor for his career. D+

Kyle Weaver I actually loved and predicted this pick. But it was not meant to be. I think he has some that he can play in this league a little in Oklahoma but with them getting James Harden, he has not seen the light of day. D+

Gerald Henderson All I can say is Gerald can be the future. With his defensive skills, he could be a Raja Bell in the making. But with Flip Murray playing ahead of him and even Stephen Graham giving minutes, there has not been much for him. But he should hang in there and the Bobcats should hang on to him. C+

Derrick Brown This has steal written all over it. He should have been a first rounder. Has played well at the four due to lack of depth. But should be a great back up to Gerald Wallace. He will be a solid role player for us by next year. the Bobcats should also hang on to him too. B-

Robert Vaden Who, I forgot we draft him since we traded him immediately to the Thunder but I don't think he made the team. I hope will got a pick back in this trade.

Overall=D-

Even with our "best picks" many of them turned out to be only average. UPS was certainly a steal, Henderson will be a premier defender in a few years, and Raymond is turning out to be a steady pg. DJ's true impact has yet to be seen. Okafor......was decent. However, for as high as he was drafted he should've been alot better. Morrison, May.....just those two picks alone make me shudder. Im thinking we may be able to get what we need in the draft this year......which imo is a four-year collegiate player (its rare, i know) who can bang down low and play immediately.

I'm giving a C for now. If Lexy improves and Hendo comes of age and plays well, and UPS continues to show great promise, it could get up to the B- range. Of course, if Lexy and Hendo stay in LB oblivion and only UPS gets any PT, it could drop to the D+ range.

I'm protesting all past draft analysis threads. Time to move forward.

I feel like we've always got the short end of the stick with the lottery. Think about it, had we won the lottery our expansion year, we would have Dwight Howard. Had we won it in '05, we'd have Chris Paul or Deron Williams. In both instances we did take the best pick for our position in the draft however, as Okafor was the best big available and Ray was the best PG available. So we really didn't screw those drafts up.

But yeah, Ammo over Roy and Gay was just stupid.

The Ammo pick was by Bickerstaff. Only good thing Bickerstaff did was grab Crash from the expansion draft. It was a shame though. Bickerstaff did try his best but just failed. Then we got even more fail with FHB. Now we have Mr. Fantastic of Teaching. From bad to pure crap to good.

As for our drafting, I would give it a D. I would of prefered Lopez over Auggie, but Auggie has shown glimpses of stardom. 09's draft was good, Hendo (who will be a solid player in the future if he gets minutes) and UPS (steal) was good.

Anyone know what picks we have for this year's draft? I'm confused with the drafting of Lexy.

We have no 2nd rounder in the 2010 draft. And if we make the Playoffs, we have no
1st either. So it is either Lottery (and no Playoffs) or no picks. And honestly, I think everyone on this board would be just fine with making the Playoffs. No matter against who, it would be a delight and well worth no picks to see the Cats in the Playoffs this post season.

Just sign 2 undrafted guys for fun. Making the playoffs could help us out more with free agency then a 8-12 draft pick could.

It is hard to exactly explain why we are this good when our best picks were Oak and Adam. Considering Oak got traded for a guy who isn't playing right now and despite what LB says hasn't been all that great this year.

It really depends on who you compare us to. Compared to the rockets for instance we have been terrible but so have a lot of teams.

I think one thing that has played to our disadvantage is we wanted to be good before we had a chance to build enough through the draft. The year we traded our pick for J-Rich and added Naz I think we made a mistake. That year we should have taken Noah his energy and d would be great combined with crash.

All i have to say is this....writing off DJ now will be a mistake.I have the utmost confidence he will blossom into a very good player in the future

I haven't had a problem ( on draft night ) with anyone that was picked. Some draft picks work out some don't. It's easy to flip coins in a wishing well.

I'd have to agree with that. Hindsight is 20/20. It's easy to say after the fact that we should have traded our 2 picks to get Paul in '05, or at least taken Granger over May, or that we should have taken Roy over Morrison or Lopez over DJ, not traded for Lexi etc. But the truth is, May was the best PF available with that pick and was playing quite well before he got hurt. That wasn't a bad decision IMO, just bad luck. Morrison was arguably the best player in college basketball. Yeah there were other good players on the board, but on its face, you can't really be too mad with that pick. He had some big scoring nights in what was a promising rookie season. Who knows what might have been if he hadn't gotten hurt and in turn, lost his confidence. DJ had a great rookie season and while he's struggled this year, could still develop into a really good player. And oh yeah, we needed a back up pg. One could fairly question whether giving up a 1st for Lexi was a wise move, even at the time, but who knows. He could still pan out.

We've had some bad luck with the ping pong balls and with injuries, but I agree that at the time, I wasn't too bothered by any of our picks.
