Point guards Deron Williams (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3929/) of Utah, Chicago's Derrick Rose (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/4387/) and Boston's Rajon Rondo (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/4149/) will make their All-Star Game debuts next month in Dallas, sources said Thursday.
Williams, Rondo and Rose top the list of reserves chosen by the league's coaches to participate in the Feb. 14 game at Cowboys Stadium. The names won't be made official until Thursday night, but Yahoo! Sports has obtained the list of reserves.
Besides Rondo and Rose, the East roster includes Boston's Paul Pierce (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3253/), Toronto's Chris Bosh (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3707/), Charlotte's Gerald Wallace (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3533/) and Atlanta's Joe Johnson (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3520/) and Al Horford (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/4245/).
The West includes the New Orleans' Chris Paul (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3930/), the Lakers' Pau Gasol (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3513/)(notes) (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3513/news), Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/4244/)(notes) (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/4244/news), Dallas' Dirk Nowitzki (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3252/), Memphis' Zach Randolph (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3531/) and Portland's Brandon Roy (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/4134/).
Among the notable candidates left off the team are the Los Angeles Clippers (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/lac/)' Chris Kaman (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3709/)(notes) (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3709/news), New York's David Lee (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3956/)(notes) (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3956/news) and Denver's Chauncey Billups (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3174/)(notes) (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3174/news).

If that's the case, Jack was far more deserving than Pierce and Rose

They were only going to select one player from the Bobcats. So they got it right imho.

FINALLY! FINALLY!

This dude has been so deserving of making the starting roster this year...Pierce? I agree that Jax should've gotten the nod over him. But we'll take what we can get!

Hooray for Gerald.
Also, I predict a meltdown from Josh Smith, who you know expected to make it over his teammate Al Horford. Not all is right in paradise.

I have been looking and hopeing all day. Congrats to THE MAN G Walace. Long passed due. All the hard work is finaly starting to pay off.
Jax made a good case for his self and Charlotte all so . I know we was lucky to get Wallace but in my mind Charlotte has two ALL STARS.

Wallace Bobcats' first All-Star (http://blogs.charlotte.com/inside_the_nba/2010/01/wallace-bobcats-first-allstar.html)

Bonnell says he's confirmed it.

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Gotta say, Smoove and D.Lee got the shaft for sure, and I would've had Jax over Rose, but one plays in Chicago, the other Charlotte.

At least Randolph made it.

But none of that really matters, because the Bobcats got an All Star! Woot!

So, is he still doing the dunk contest?

There is always someone who doesn't play because of injury....Pierce, Garnett or Iverson are all guys who could possibly sit out. Horford was a surprise pick to me.

Agreed that there is no player more deserving of an all-star nod. Congrats to Wallace and the NBA powers that be for not f'ing this selection up.

I'm hoping that the public shames A.I. into not playing and Jax finds his way into the All-Star game. Having 2 Cats in the game would be amazing ( I'm greedy  )

Far as I'm concerned, he's been an All-Star since the first day he put on the Bobcats uniform. On those down nights for the team, he was worth the price of admission!

No smugness at all intended, but today's news was just a formality: it was obvious GW was getting in starting a couple weeks ago when any and every talking head (and blogger and such) was throwing their hat in the "Gerald for All Star" ring. And if the media is going to the rack for GW, the same media that often if not exclusively ignores us is touting GW, then you know guys in the league think even more highly of him; at least that was my logic in not even fearing today that he might not be named.

Now that it is official however, it's absolutely surreal. It just feels so......weird. Very similar to dnb's "How to deal with success" thread, but even moreso. I mean, disregard the politicking and commercialism and superficiality of the event, it's still a huge deal to be named an NBA All Star, as opposed to the Pro Bowl and to a lesser extent the MLB. And to be able to have our humble team have the man that has epitomized Bobcats ball for nearly six years now represent us in such a showcase is just :o to me now that the reality has set it in.

From an overall franchise view, this has to be the biggest day in franchise history (aside from the day it was officially announced we'd get a new team), and like I said earlier, I'm just stoked it was GW who got it first!!!

It's not humanly possible to be more proud of Gerald for this accomplishment!

This is a tremendous accomplishment for Gerald and the orginization. Although I do believe Jack was also deserving of a spot, I am thrilled beyond words that it's Gerald that gets the honor of being the first All-Star for the Bobcats. Watching Gerald develop from the freakishly athletic guy with potential to the do-it-all professional who put in the time, effort and dedication to realize his potential has been nothing but a great pleasure.

While I am proud to have our city represented in the All-Star game, I am infinitely more proud that it is Gerald who is our representative. For the original Bobcat to have been through the bad (early expansion years) and the ugly (Ham Biscuit's tenure), it's a real joy to see him get to experience the good in his and the franchise's first All-Star bid.

Now the All-Star bid is settled, let's work on becoming the franchie's first dunk contest winner. I mean, while he's there and all...

Stephen Jackson has to be one of the best players ever to not have been an allstar atleast once.

(Although i think he was a CBA all star at one point. THAT COUNTS FOR SOMETHING, RIGHT?!)

First post here,

Long time Bobcat fan, and Hornet fan before that. I'm so happy for Gerald Wallace. Watching him develop into the player we all knew he could be has been great, and I'm glad to see that rewarded with an All-Star berth.
