So it's official the Checkers are moving up. Tha Albany River Rats, AHL affiliate of the Hurricanes are moving to Charlotte starting play for the 2010-2011 season. For those of you who don't follow hockey this means that the Checkers will be the last stop before the NHL. Just thought you guys might wanna know.
Sweet.
Now how about that Lingerie team?

All the while the owner is trying to unload the "original" checkers (who will remain ECHL). From what I've read, there is even more consideration to moving them elsewhere in the carolinas and aligning them to feed the "new" checkers (Old checkers ECHL -> New checkers AHL -> Hurricanes).
Maybe with this move we can at least get some pre-season games here. It'd also be awesome if we could get a D-league affiliate in the carolinas for the cats. Raleigh wouldn't work, just too much blue there to even dream of it... but what about asheville (I think they had a team before too) or even columbia would be cool.
Asheville isn't a sports town.
Greensboro?

I'd follow them more if they were in the AHL.

I meant it the way it would be fun to have somewhat insider for following possible czech prospects in AHL, maybe even on Checkers roster. Not that i care about hockey that much, but anyway.
