Things are not going well in New Jersey

with that being said, this is the group that beat us a few months back and turned this place into NetsPlanet for 24 hours... It was a time of great, great shame
I cannot fathom us losing to these guys again. It simply can't happen again, right?

Time to get back to business. Hopefully there's no ASW hangover. Gotta pick back up where we left off: beating bad teams and putting space between us and .500.
I'm getting Directv installed tomorrow, which means I can watch the games on my tv, in HD. However, the guy won't come until after noon.
Basically, if he gets done in time for me to watch tip off, I think we win. If not, it's a sign...
Haha, nah, I think we have enough motivation to beat them, and Jack and Nazzy will be well rested, Ray has healed his ankle hopefully, and G-Dub didn't do anything at all in Dallas so he should be fine too.

I said if the Nets beat us last time I was gonna cry (which I almost did). If we lose to them this time I'm not only going to cry, but probably sit on my porch and curse the basketball gods all night long. Please Bobcats, don't make me do this!!!!

We have reached the part of the season where you MUST win the games you're supposed to win and steal a few that are not in your favor. Our next two fit both categories. This is a must win and Friday night would be sweet. Lets Go Cats!
We can no longer lose to these types of teams if we are going to make the playoffs, we did last year and it cost us big time. We are at home, and the Nets are awful, there is no excuse not to win this.

Ziggy: I think we should show the confidence in the team and go ahead and state we will make it Nets Planet for 24 hrs if they beat us. After all, this is a home gaime, and they have won what, only 4 games so far? Let's throw down the gauntlet and make it Nets Planet for 24 hrs if they win.

A Derrick Brown sighting??
Im dissapointed that we're not kicking they're asses by 20, what happened to that attitude we had about a month ago?

Jax: "Delay of game? Dude I'm Stephen Muther***king Jackson!" Give me the technical baby!"
I was thinking the same thing.
That was a super lucky shot by Jackson to end the half. I've only seen the 2nd qrt. but the Cats in general look a little off. I pick they'll pick things up in the 2nd half. I have to say it's good to see Tyson out there. Passing him the ball still seems to be a problem to bad his hands didn't heal too. They still have basketball size holes in them.

NJ is the type of team that gives away a ton of games (obviously), but if we come out tin the 2nd half with this same half assed effort, we could be the temporary laughing stock of the league..again. If the Cats realize that they're actually playing an NBA team, we should blow the doors off of this game..on another note, I think I'm really in love with Stephanie Ready...

Diaw has to hit more than 25% of wide open threes and can he at least try to follow his shot and not get abused on defense

Diaw had a good game. Wallace, Felton, did as well and Jax did enough. We just didn't have a 5th guy. I thought Grahm was doing decent, but we took him out.

As usual we will have to agree to disagree...........
Stop living by stats. Diaw as usual played terrible D-fense and showed little to no hustle
We are not talented enough to have a few players have a decent game and win. Chandler is a f'ing joke and why LB takes any opporitunity to put nazzy on the bench is beyond me. Do we even need to talk about Diop.
Diaw has trade value - package him up with something else and get a player that fits this team and whatever you want to say - trust me he does not.
If we are committed to keeping Felton i'd say move DJ too as he has value and maybe can be packaged with some of our garbage but i am not convinced Felton (or coach) for that matter will be back next year and we cannot start from scratch at PG
Lots more to a game than stats - i am not ignorant or dumb. Diaw sucks - enough said
WarioVsMooChicken
02-16-2010, 09:49 PM
Diaw usually does suck and I wouldn't miss him if we traded him but I dun see how anyone could say he wasn't our 2nd or 3rd best player this game.
And stats happen for a reason. It's dumb to ignore them.
I don't see how Diaw could record a double double with no hustle. This was one of the few games this year where I actually saw him try,
WarioVsMooChicken
02-16-2010, 09:50 PM
Main thing is we need to spread the minutes around. Brown needs more minutes every game and Grahm was going strong while in.

02-16-2010, 10:26 PM
Or so it appeared. He hobbled off the court in obvious pain. He was playing well for us - even a nice forceful dunk. Tyson didn't pick up the slack, though I'm not going to pick on him. At least he's trying. We really looked flat tonight. My man Gerald seemed passive (despite the stats). We haven't really played well in a while. Looks like they think they can slack off for three quarters and then pull it off at the end. We ain't that good. I wish we were, but we're not. Maybe we're trying to rope-a-dope the Cavs . . . .

Boris wasn't the worst, but 33% from the field (25% from 3) isn't "good". Hell, Jax actually shot better than that overall and I thought he was freaking terrible offensively.
Crash not showing up til the 2nd half didn't help either.
We had 2 players to shoot 50% or better...Felton & Nazr. In turn we allowed the Nets to shoot 52% overall and outrebound us by 11.
No way we win games like that.

Losing twice to potentially the worst team in NBA history boggles my mind.
How is the team that was so unstoppable in January against powerhouse teams capable of producing such festering turdlike efforts against the sorry assed Nets?
dav7z
02-16-2010, 11:11 PM
We had no chemristy at all tonight . Blame ? I don't know what the hell is going on ? Chandler being back may hurt chemristy? Brown seems to hate NAZZs defence Lopez did beat him down the floor three times . But his scoring and rebounding should keep him out of the dog house . But not tonight? I got the inpression we was show caseing Boris at any cost tonight . He shot more tonight and even tryed to force shots ? The sale of the team might be the main cause for such bad play . We didn't play well our last win or sence the anouncement of the sale? Defence was no where to be found tonight ? JAX was trying to shoot over four people after his tec? He never plays good ball after getting pissed at the refs? DJ was very very timid as if he was sceard to shoot . Some thing is or did affect the teams play tonight. Any thoughts?
Whoever it is that thinks Diaw has trade value...I just finished looking at ESPNs top ten worst contracts (for the value) and Diop and Diaw are both on it...so I'm not sure who/what team he'd have trade value...he's an over-payed underachiever...
...and as far as the game goes...there are just times that LB never ceases to amaze me as a "game coach"...tonight was one of those games...

My fellow Cats fans, we are a .500 ball club and this is what teams at .500 do. On any given night we can win or lose no matter the opponent. Do we need a rugged PF? Very much so, but we are a .500 team in the my mind, body, and spirit.
Side note: On 3 consecutive trips - Diop shoots a jumper (really now?), gets dunked on (he has 6 fouls to spare) and almost took out our starting PG (cherry on top). Why was he in the game?

The only thing that's suprising to me is that some of y'all are suprised we lost. I mean really, when was the last game that the guys actually played 24 or more good minutes of basketball? Tonight could've easily been the 6th straight loss, if not for squeaking it out against WAS and MIN the previous two games. Add in the fact that the Nets are very confident when they play us, this game was a recipe for disaster, and disaster it was. They were the much more confident team; the more cohesive team; the better defensive team; the better offensive team; the more energetic team; they were, yes, it's true, the better team.
I'm not sure what, but the team is in a funk since the end of the big road trip....it's like something happened on that flight back from LA, and it's just not been the same. Larry constantly chewed ass, spewing expletives like there was no tomorrow to his guys during timeouts about lack of hustle, lack of energy, ball movement (as he said, "it's just getting worse every fucking possession. This is bullshit."), blocking out, communicating on screen and rolls, etc., but apparently it wasn't getting through.
I understand the guys can't play at the level of the legendary 6 game homestand last month every game, but since the end of the road trip, the overall change in the team has been alarming, and, unless they can get "it" back together, there's definite cause for concern.
It's time to wake. The fuck. Up.

from Real GM
I have news for you, S-Jax is not why we lost this game.
I sat courtside. I felt like a Chinese man who had shamed his family. I couldn't believe what I was watching, and I knew it was over 1 minute into the 3rd quarter - I just had to formulate my escape plan.
What an epic, awful, worst-of-all-time performance by Nazr Mohammad, Tyson Chandler, and Whocares Diop. From the very first minute, these three clowns were of absolute no importance on the offense or defensive end. I yelled out "WHAT THE ****" to Diop as soon as he took that 20 foot jumper. I hope he heard.
Gerald Wallace really disappoints me. Not because of the early foul trouble, both of which he had no contact on his defender (the refs were brutal, but not the reason why we lost) but because of his infancy-style abortion of a game the rest of the minutes he played. He whined to the official the entire game (Jax at least shut up once he got the tech) and during one play missed an entire NJ possession (they scored) when he got hit in the nose and was complaining to the refs. As in, he stood under our basket the entire NJ possession, then threw a hissyfit and sat on the bench to get attended to by the medical staff. I don't know what his deal is, but I have a hard time believing we even make the playoffs if he doesn't do a complete 180 from what I saw tonight. It was pitiful.
DJ Augustin was pathetic. I'm 100%, officially off his wagon and Brook had every right to be upset at the Bobcats for pulling that on him on draft night. Brook was the best player on the floor, despite the refs calling tickytack fouls on him. Jeff McInnis could have put together a more complete game than DJ Augustin tonight. I can't believe what I saw...he was getting dominated by Keyon Dooling.
The only player who tried worth a damn, and actually came through, from sitting courtside and being able to practically be in the game is Boris Diaw. Kudos to him, he was snapping at Chandler for being such an idiot, yelling and Gerald at certain times, and demanded that he got the ball. It might not show on the stats, and he did get blocked quite a bit at the basket, but he was actually furious at this defeat, not indifferent like the rest of the team (sans the coaching staff). I am sorry I called him out recently.
Overall, I have never been more disappointed in attending a professional sporting event then I was tonight, when I had the best seats I've had since a 1995 Hornets game. I felt embarrassed, as did a lot of the fans. I know its just one loss, and we will probably limp into the playoffs anyway, but this was a gutwrenching, team-digresses-by-600% loss that is just totally unacceptable and I cannot see how we stay within 30 of Cleveland on Friday.
Prove me wrong, boobcats.

In regards to amcoolio's post...
Nazr left the game with back spasms didn't he? Gana logged all of 5 minutes. Sure he took some ignorant shots, but still. TC looked ok in spurts, but not so ok in others. Still fumbled the ball, still got an offensive foul on the pick...but lost us the game?
Sure Lopez hurt us, but he played 29 minutes...just over half a game.
Crash was slow to get off, but IMO he had a decent 2nd half.
I don't get the DJ hate at all. Kid played 13 minutes.
What gets me is his opening statement though...Jax wasn't the reason we lost? Boris & Jax jacking up 3s in the 4th quarter when we were down by 4-8 points didn't contribute to the loss?
The Bobcats took 5 straight threes in the fourth quarter...well before it got down to desperation time. The run started with the Bobcats trailing by just 7 and 8 minutes remaining in the game. Unfortunately for the Bobcats, it included just 1 make - their only make of the quarter from deep, going for 1-8 from outside. For a team that ranks 22nd in the league in 3-point shooting, at under 34%, that is not a successful strategy.
Now look what LB had to say:
"I think we've lost a lot of defensive intensity and have a lot of ball-stoppers." By ball-stoppers, Brown meant players holding the ball too long, rather than swinging it from side-to-side of the defense. That contributed to shooting 42 percent from the field.
Jackson, who shot 7-of-20 from the field, but also had five assists, said that doesn't apply to him.
"If I have the ball (and a teammate is) in the open, I'll pass the ball," he said.
Brown added that forward Gerald Wallace (21 points and 10 rebounds) should get more touches.Who are these so called "ball stoppers"?
The defense was atrocious. Harris was rubbing Felton off the high screen and we maybe defended that well 2 or 3 times...and that was mainly by TC rolling with Harris (as he's supposed to do) and defending him well.
Who was the defender covering the screen when we went small?
Our (lack of) team defense lost the game, but even with that we should have finished them off in the 4th. Instead we jacked the ball on the perimeter and got nothing for it.

Just a major momentum killer.
If the Nets get 10 wins, we better get 20 bottles of champagne...
And I didn't see much of the game because I was too frustrated to watch, but amcoolio was right in some areas, but giving Boris a free pass was just stupid. I'm sorry, everyone deserves to eat shit until we win again.

I agree with that, but so many people are mainly blaming Boris for everything and it's getting annoying.
We need to freaken use our bench more. Playing our starters 40 minutes a night is catching up with us.

I don't think that Boris was "bad" per say...just not good. I'm glad that he showed some compassion, but that along with 2 bucks will maybe buy a cup of coffee. You have to actually produce at a good clip.
I'd really like to know who was covering the screen tho when we went "small". I honestly don't remember. Either way Harris wore us out repeatedly all night.
And NO WAY would I give a pass to Jax for last night's game either. In my mind he was a big culprit.

We're used to losing...Lord knows we've seen a LOT of it in our short history. I really don't care how it looks to lose to the Nets...I hate how we lost to the Nets.
The lack of effort and being outworked (that old "wanting it more"), and esp. the string of the same thing over the last few weeks is what's so troubling.

I just came back from a nice short lovely holiday, looked at NBA results and all the lovely tasty pie i ate for lunch turned to ash in my stomach. We shouldn't have lost. I haven't watched the game completely yet, but I could cry at the 4th quarter.
Several notes:
-I don't know why people are raging so hard at Diaw. He came to play. He did hustle and he did grab rebounds (something he's normally terrible at).
-Crash...after getting all-star treatment Crash doesn't seem the usual self.
-Jax was horrible on offense tonight.
-TC played some nice defense. At +7 for the end of a night, that's pretty decent. 4 TO's killed his good work on defense though.
-Graham looked good in his limited minutes.
-Lack of bench minutes. People complain that the bench for the Bobcats doesn't produce, maybe because they get no minutes
-Nets killed us offensively, had a complete lack of team defense. If we had played our usual defense, we could of performed that bad on offense and still won the game.
