I think that the if there is a coverup, it boils down to the one thing that drives just about everything on this world. Money.

If aliens exist and there are technologies that exist beyond what we are currently aware of, then it's the corporate interests that are responsible for that info not being made public.

If they exist and some higher ups know about it, then its economic reasons that keep it from coming out... I don't think the decision makers really give a crap about our religion, well being or our beliefs... They just want us to continue working, spending money, eating at Mcdonald's and watching American Idol. UFO disclosure would upset that.

As for religion, Aliens are most likely way more advanced then us. So would they be angels "perfect beings" and humans Gods retarded experiment?
