Friday night it will be the battle of the brand new power forwards. The Cavs have added Antowain Jamison, and we have added this guy:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8koLC0T6rI

Now I'm not going to kid myself here and say that Thomas is better than Jamison, but he is something that the Bobcats haven't had at the power forward spot since... ever.

I'm looking forward to this game for a lot of reasons, I'm anxious to see how Thomas looks, I'm anxious to see if DJ and Henderson get more minutes, I'm anxious to see if what the rotation looks like. Dammit, I'm just anxious

What do you guys think these "new look" Bobcats are going to do tomorrow night?

Win.

Nah, I have no clue what to expect. But a win would be nice...

I'll be interested in seeing how Thomas looks out there, but I'm dreading the game, honestly. For one, I know the LeBron fans will be there en masse; we've already beaten them twice this year, and they're coming off a loss to the Nuggets. That said, it's a back to back for them, they have to travel, and the Cats are rested and coming off a shitty performance. We shall see...

Hey, it's Fred Williamson from RGM! Same quote, same KIng James stat prediction, and same score prediction. Why go by a different name here at BCP?

Anyway, Cavs coming off a hard loss at home last night. Tired they will be. And we have TT to beat up Jamison. This will be a tough close game, but Cats can win it.

I really doubt our Bobcats win this game tonight. Theo will be forced into a fair amount of minutes and being that the trade was made yesterday I doubt he has much of an impact. Same can be said for Tyrus but at least Boris is healthy. If our team can keep this game respectable I will be thrilled. As of late our team has looked piss poor against inferior competition. So how will we look against superior competition?

GoBobs
02-19-2010, 01:18 PM
I an not convinced that Wallace is 100% healthy. That said I would go with the bobcats even if he wasn't playing. It just makes to much sense for us to lose to the nets then pound the cavs.

Talent
02-19-2010, 02:38 PM
Isn't Mo Williams just coming back from an injury, and the cavs have a more reduced bench now with big Z gone. I think this game will be more competitive that people suspect. This is also night 2 of a back to back where the Cavs lost at the last second last night after a hard fought game.

It's like Diaw read everything we've written about him in the last week. He looks like a different cat out there!

Halftime thoughts

- Keep up the lockdown on LBJ

-Bring in the help on Shaq once he gets too close. that's a freebie for Cleveland when he has a single guy on him under the basket. He's like a charging rhino.

- Keep moving the ball like this and we'll have an excellent shot.

P.S. Anyone notice how happy Ty Thom looks? Like a kid in a candy store!

TT is struggling getting things to go in the paint...which Bulls fans did say he had trouble doing. It's the first game without even a practice, so no need to worry yet.

I LOVE how he weakside helps, and he's sucking up some boards. If he did nothing else but those two consistently I'll be content.

Theo also looks to have a lot more life in him than I thought.

dnbman
02-19-2010, 08:15 PM
Not to rain on the parade, but one of my friends who is a Bulls fan was telling me he could be too shot happy from outside. Well, right now he's 1-6 in 10 minutes.

That's no cause for alarm, but if he's taking so many shots on his first night with a new team, how many will he take when he gets comfortable?

Of course, some of those misses might be a result of first night jitters.

Either way, I'm happy with what I see so far. I just don't want Thomas to turn into yet another player where he's the G.O.A.T. for a week and then a jackass the next week.

Though, if you're anything like me, the fact that he can walk comes as a bit of a shock.

I agree. He looks much better than I imagined. He definitely seems like he can contribute. Although, I hate the idea that we have Gana performing the same role for 4x the dough.

Yeah we did lose 1 so that's 3 to 1...but we're probably the only team (in the East anyway) that'll have more wins vs losses vs the Cavs.

Someone tell me how this team can lose to the Nets twice but are on the verge of sweeping the cavs (i think)

It is simple really. We get up to play the cavs because it is a chance to prove we are as good as they are.

We expect to win vs the nets because we think we have turned the corner. Only the nets really get up to play us because one they are jealous of our success and two they feel it is one of there few winnable games.

If you look back in the thread I said this one would be an easy win.

Also we did not sweep the cavs but rather took 3 out of 4. They beat us once at home.

Diaw is in no danger of losing minutes. Tyrus is going to take minutes from Chandler, Naz, Diop. We didn't see to much of Diaw/Thomas this game because of Shaq, but it will be our best lineup.

Impressive debut by TT with 9 pts 12 reb and 6 blks. Theo played solid when he was in as well. Very happy with this win!
Theo had 5 rebounds 1 assist and 2 blocks. He didnt have any points, but he didnt take any shots so its not like he is a black-hole on offense. Both proved to be solid pickups.

I think that's pretty true. People forget that all of the NBA teams have quality talent and can win on any given night. All of the bad teams beat good teams throughout the year. The good teams simply win more frequently. That said, we have to be on the hunt every night. We're not good enough to think we can hang out for three quarters and then win in the 4th.

I'm always skeptical of the role of competition, which worked quite negatively against Boris when he was in Phoenix. Instead, I'm wondering if having more legit bigs around him is taking pressure off of him to be outside playmaker and an interior player.

Who knows? Boris might continue his roller-coaster style for the rest of the season, and this was one of his coincidental peaks.

Scanning thru the Daily Dime live chat at ESPN. Comments about the Cats are very flattering. Great defense, no one wants to see them in the Playoffs, etc. Seems that Charlotte is getting a respectable amount of props these days. Nice to see.

It's amazing the hate being spewed over on the RGM Bulls' board.

I imagine TT's going to have fun dominating them for the next decade.

I think boris is gone at yrs end,, but I do like the depth that theo and tt added. Playing the more dominant teams we were always small compared to them ( although we have had injuries) but we atleast now have a deeper rotation and can put bodies on scorers to get in their heads and absorb some fouls.

Should , if we play like we played tonight, be inline for a 5-6 seed.

Hollinger gave Charlotte a B+ on the TT trade and Chicago a B-. Thinks Charlotte will keep him at least another year. Ford liked the trade also. Ford actually thought Charlotte should not have pulled the plug on the DJ and TJ Ford deal, but he's the only one who has voiced that opinion to my knowledge. Hollinger also thought the deal for Theo was good, but gave Charlotte only a C because he said LB will play him over the other guys even when they are healthy. Seems to feel he should be there for using only when we have a big man out, which we had 2 out tonight. But I was very happy with his play and prefer Theo to Diop anyday.

Great win for the Bobs. Man its great to see the progression of this franchise. From the Jason Hart, Jahidi White, Emeka Okafor days with Bernie to now with Jax, G-Force, Ray, Tyrus & gang with LB. The Bobcats are proving they belong in this league.

Great win, so much energy from Tyrus. I'm not expecting that kind of stat line every night but we NEED his energy every night to make us a better basketball team. As good as it felt to win tonight, tomorrow's game is VERY BIG in terms of the current standings in the east. What a better way to make a statement than on the road. Let's go Cats!

The enemy's game thread (http://realcavsfans.com/showthread.php?t=28806)

I have to admit, thats a damned impressive game thread over there.

lol i just read that whole thread. i have to say it made me proud as a marginally-enthusiastic fan to see the reactions by posters in that thread to the success of the bobcats in the game. some of the posters are trying to convince everyone why it is a SURE THING they would beat the bobcats in the playoffs. couldn't be less of a sure thing...

Holy Moses!!! So excited and worn out from the game, just now waking up from my nap. This was the team that set the league, and my mind, ablaze for 6 straight games last month.....and oh how I've missed that team, yet, this is arguably an even better team with the ridiculous interior defensive improvement as seen tonight by Tyrus and Theo. What a phenomenal game from those two: even though his jumper was off, even else was on with Tyrus....high energy, shot-blocking menace, rebounding, finishing strong at the rim unlike any other 4 we've ever had, and just pure exuberance; the kid not only looked and played like he is thrilled to be here, he actually is; congratulating teammates on made shots on the way back down the court; and cheerleading when on the bench. Honestly, it's not possible for him to have had a better debut...and like I said, I've instantly fallen in love with the exuberance he brings...I caught myself smiling often at his excitement in setting guys up for shots, especially for DJs three at the end of the 3rd, or just for guys like Jack making big shots in general. I don't want to jinx it by saying more......

Theo....wow. I know some where underwhelmed by this pickup, by I really liked it, and the game tonight showed my reasons. A true team-first vet that can, get this, actually set high screens and not do them illegally (Re: Mek, Chandler, lesser extent Gana), rebound, block/contest shots at the rim, and overall, make smart plays. Like I said earlier, he's last year's Juwan, and that's a presence, I think was really needed.

Also, I wore the brand spankin' new BCP Jack shirt, and boy did he deliver. Way to bounce back from a tough shooting effort against NJ and just get shit done on both ends! It's almost another typical game from him, but just because Jack's typical is excellence, it shouldn't be taken for granted so I had to give him some love.

And then Boris. He had a great game at PHX, but this was his best, most complete game of the season, I'm thinking. I don't know what it is, or if it will keep up, but he and Tyrus had really good chemistry when they were out there together tonight. I'm guessing, Tyrus is the more prototypical big man (still not a prototypical big man, mind you, just moreso than Boris) who has no problem operating in the post and finishing strong, while Boris often defers and would rather pass to an offensively aggressive teammate. I'm not sure, but there was definitely good things happening when they were on the court.

Also, a good, fiesty crowd on hand tonight that helped escort Cavs, I mean Lebron fans leave with their tails between their legs....ah, so much fun to see visiting team fans leave with slumped shoulders being heckled by "slightly intoxicated" Cats fans

But like Slam says, a game that is actually bigger than tonight's, in terms of standings, against MIL tomorrow. Until then, I'm living this one up!

Great win. Absolutely awesome win and a good rebound back from last game's horror show.

As always, I will be noting things I saw.

The Positives:
-Hendo and UPS got on the floor. No really, for about 2 minutes. Hendo even scored a point.
-TT and Theo looked awesome out there. The lineup of Crash, TT and Theo looks like a major shot blocking trio.
-TT is an AGGRESSIVE 4 = Aggro banger 4 that we've always wanted
-Diaw played an awesome game
-Great D. Limited Princess James to 22 points. 39% FG for Cavs
-More rebounds, more blocks, more assists
-LB used the bench more
-Auggie looked comfortable out there. He set up some great plays and moved around the court well.

The Bad:
-Crash looked tired at times out there.
-5 TO Jax, 4 TO Tonberry, 14 TO overall
-Only 3 steals (although Felton's steal on Princess was awesome)

I really see a great future if the Bobcats can play this way CONSISTENTLY over 4 quarters. I hated the TT trade because of the first pick, but the way he's going I don't mind it one bit. If he continues this production and brings this energy to the floor, I'll be jumping on the bandwagon.

I watched the game on TV and just wow. Tyrus and Theo played really great, Tyrus is just like an infinite power source on both ends. He threw a few irrelevant shots on the offense, but was great on defense and made the background for the horrendous debut of Jamison. We really needed this kind of athleticism stuff. Theo will surely contribute as well. I congratulate both.

...And also the team, Boris was great in setting up plays for his teammates although her forced sometimes too much. Jackson did his usual stuff, and DJ looked like he regained his confidence back.

Great win against the statistically best team :)

Whoever was talking about Jamison's horrendous debut being possibly the worst ever was completely correct. Last night, ESPN covered the game and put up a graphic of the worst shooting debuts in history and he was ON TOP.

We successfully forced the worst debut in NBA history. Good job Cats!
