Obviously 5th would be ideal but if we are not going to get 5th then i'd rather have 8th than 6 or 7.
Who here does not think we are a better matchup with the Cavs than we are vs the Celtics or Magic?
Although i think beating the cavs in a series is still unlikely I see it as being possible. I do not see us putting up much of a contest against the celts or magic - we just do not match up well with them
Your thoughts???????

Agreed. I'd rank my preferences like this:
1) Cavs (Sad that this is the case)
2) Celtics
3) Hawks
4) Magic
Despite the fact that Boston has killed us all season long, I still think we could wear them down in a 7 game series. IMO, there's no way we beat the Hawks. They're more athletic than we are (which is our strength) and more skilled to go along with that.
The Magic would kill us. We forced the game into OT the last time we played them, and that was when Nelson and Carter were stinking up the team. We ended up getting killed on OT anyway.

Guys, honestly we match up well with Cleveland, but I don't want any part of them in the playoffs. Main reason being, how many times have you seen a team dominate a series in the regular season, then get obliterated in the playoffs? With their full attention, we might steal a game at home but that's it.
1. Atlanta
2. Boston
3. Orlando
4. Cleveland
Atlanta is tested and skilled yes, but if we play defense like we have been, I think we could steal one down there and sweep at home in all honesty. Outside of Johnson and Crawford, they don't really have shooters, or a dominating post presence. Horford is okay, but we have enough big bodies to throw at him.
Boston would remind me of when the Charlotte Hornets first made the playoffs in 1993 I believe. A young, up and coming team against the aging veterans of past glory. Man I'd love to see that again and blast them just like the Hornets did back in the day. No one gave the Hornets a chance then, and it would be the same thing here today.
Orlando would be tough just because of their damn shooters. We'd have to play Howard one on one, and I would, let him get his and try to shut everyone else down. We could push it to six against them, but I'd doubt anymore.

I'd prefer a playoff spot, 5-8 is fine with me. the playoffs are going to be tough, but the main goal is to get there. We have to clinch a spot before we worry about where we want to finish

If 1-4 stay the same then I defenetly want to see us get ethier 8 seed or 5 seed. I don't want to play the Celtics or the Magic in the first round. Wouldn't mind the Hawks.

I just want the 'Cats to make the playoffs.I could care less about seeding at this point.

its awesome that we won the season series with the cavs, but there is no way in hell i want to see them in a 7 game series
I'd like to see us get the highest seed (fifth seems do-able) that we can...

i don't want anything to do with the magic, but the higher the better regardless. if there are more upsets, then i'd rather us have the chance at home court in the next round. we are tough at home and would welcome home court advantage.

If all five (I'm including AA) of our bigs are healthy, we can slowly wear down Dwight Howard.

If we make the playoffs, Alexis Ajinca will not be active.
And UPS and Hendo would only get PT if we're up 20 with less than a minute left.

Seriously...
And although this isn't exactly fun to think about, it needs to be said. A lot of players struggle in their first real playoff appearances.
Gerald has 52 minutes of playoff experience (garbage time with the Kings). Obviously neither point guard has yet to reach the playoffs.
The playoffs are a vicious animal. Being a good player doesn't mean you're immune to the new level of pressure (and I understand Felton and Augustin played in big games in college, but that's quite different).

Augustin I'm a lot more worried about than Gerald or Ray. Ray was the leader of a national championship team at UNC, and he's a warrior who seems to handle pressure decently. Gerald was in a winning locker room for 3 seasons with the Kings, and had that attitude ingrained in him. He's not going to choke up here. DJ though, wasn't the guy at Texas and is hit and miss here.
We do have the benefit of having lots of playoff experience with Theo, Tyson, Gana, Nazr, Boris, Tyrus, Jack, even Stevie and of course LB and most of his staff.

I agree that we seem to match up better against the cavs and have pretty much dominated them this year, but Lebron is the NBA's crown jewel. There's no way they're going to allow him to go out in the first round, to the bobcats no less, if it's even close. We'd have to basically blow them out and take it out of the refs hands and that won't happen. Orlando would destroy us. I think our best chance is against Atlanta, and while we haven't played well against them at all, I still think we'd have a decent shot against Boston if we could win a game early and extend the series. They'll wear down if we can get to a 6th or 7th game.
When it's all said and done I don't see us winning a series against any of those teams, but it would be a huge step forward for us to get there.

I have to disagree there. If there is one thing the NBA would like more than Lebron smashing everything in his path on the way to getting killed by a Western Conference opponent, it's making us Golden State 2.0. They love that underdog Cinderella BS. You can hardly watch anything associated with the NBA without seeing some mention of the Cinderella 8 seed who took down the one.
Now dont get me wrong, they wont go out of their way to help us, but I dont think they would actively screw us if there was any chance of making us the new NBA playoff darlings.

I want the Celtics.....So finally we can set fire to the monkey on our back by the name of Ray Allen. Aka Satan aka The bringer of Tears. I will dance a hearty jig on that day.

I don't want the magic. We never beat them.
I would want Boston because I think we can be like the hawks and take them to a game 7. We can bring some energy and run, play some scrappy defense, and wear them down because they are old.
The hawks would be tough for us too, but I think we can win 2 against them.
Although we have a 3-1 lead against the cavs in the regular season, I think they will be much more prepared if we play against them in the playoffs. Plus they have gained Jamison, a stretch 4 who could give us trouble when we have to focus on Lebron (and maybe shaq if he comes back).
