For me it all depends on match ups, who we are playing, who has the hot hand etc.
I don't think this is a question that can be generically answered for a team like us.
If we had Kobe or Flash on the team, different story, but for us it's a game by game thing IMO.

Agreed. I think it varies by the game, the matchup, how we are being defended, and who is hot.The thing most folks fail to understand is that it also depends on what kind of set we come out in. In a 1 4 set, I actually am more comfortable with Felton, followed by Jack.
Crash is best on baseline isolation plays, but what makes it tough is that teams can team defend these better as a team as the endline, angles, and basket make your options more limited. When teams provide the right defensive alignment, he can be a good option, especially as he is the player most likely to get a foul called on a drive.
Jack is a good isolation player, but he needs the ball on the wing more so than the top of the key as he is easier to defend there. He is also is better when he doesn't have the ball for an overextended amount of time with too many dribbles. Jack's isolation ability is enhanced by his fadeaway shooting ability, helping him get off difficult shots.
Felton's ballhandling allows him to create from anywhere and better out of a 1 4 set (switch on pick and roll), if necessary (GREAT adjustment by Larry putting in DJ to spread the floor as a shooter last night) and despite all the shit he has caught in his career, he has hit a heckuva lot of late shots for the team since he has been here. He also is the best option to make a split second pass to someone else. Finally, he has a better ability to get closer to the rim than Jack, presenting an offensive rebound opportunity (like Crash's against the Grizzlies). I think the key is when we do run a play through him, setting up the floor effectively to provide good passing options with guys ready to shoot making it a shoot or pass option.Ultimately, I think that as Slam said, we have no slamdunk answer to this. Best player and guy you want to have the ball in this situation are not always the same thing. I am just happy that on some level we have more options than we have in the past.
But I agree with Kat, TC needs more support as an option! I would like to see us spread the floor and let TC go 1 4 and workout on an opposing C.
I got to learn how to use these face icons better.

I agree with slam would have to be a match-up decision...we have no one game-in-game-out I'd ever say I want taking the last shot...

If we're desperate, just get Felton to lob it to TC. They won't see it coming, who would think that they would run a play for the guy who barely scores at all in a game.

If you want someone to take the ball from the top of the key then felton is the guy you want but i agree that a pass or shoot option is best for him, Jax is the guy you want taking most of your last second shots because of his ability to create, he gets in trouble when goes iso 20 feet from the top of the key where most of his turnovers and bad shots come from. He is at his best 15 feet in from the wing which generally lives him with either a high % shot or gives his teammates good shots, Crash is better on the weakside for rebounds or putbacks
If it's less than 2 seconds and just a shot to win, then Jack.
If it's 5 seconds or more, Ray.
If it's inbetween, Diaw for threeeeeeeeeeee.

Dependable, especially for this team anyway.

There was a stat on Hoopshype the other day w/ the FG% of the top 10 players who take shots w/ less than 30 seconds to go. Felton was in the 10, which shocked me but that's not a bad option to have.

Might sound crazy, but right now, Diaw.

where did that poll come from? Pretty silly that Felton only got 8% of the votes when he's hit way more big shots than anyone in Bobcats history. Gerald came in second, but I've never really viewed him as a clutch player. He usually isn't one of the guys hitting big shots for us real late in games. I'm not sure the voters watch the games. Felton, Jack and Diaw are all pretty clutch. I like to keep feeding Jack to keep us in a close game on most nights, and if Diaw is open late he's usually pretty solid. But if it's just one bucket I'd always put the ball in Felton's hands and hope something good happens.

Remember Crash doesn't have the best perimeter shot (but I wouldn't mind him taking that shot either.) Basically anyone except Diop.

Sortable NBA Player "Clutch" Stats (http://www.82games.com/0910/CSORT11.HTM)
Even tho he's the 3rd or 4th option, Felton leads the team in da clutch.
...of course the strategy "let Jax hold the ball for 7 seconds and then jack up a contested 3 even tho he has a bruised ligament in his hand and it's hurting like hell" ranks right up there as well.
spectre...looked like a pretty solid strategy against the Wizards...

that was the worst 7.6 seconds of my week. surely, that could not have been what was said in the huddle during the time out? :paddle:

Interesting that Felts has 23.4 FGA in that scenario hitting on 50% of them. Of those 23.4 FGA, 3.5 of them are from behind the arc (great ratio IMO) and he's hitting on 50% of them too.
Even more interesting is that Jax has 24.0 FGA in that scenario hitting on 33% of them. Of those 24.0 FGA, 9.4 of them are from behind the arc (horrible ratio IMO) and he's hitting on 33% of them.

This is what I would dearly love to know. Is the old man drawing this stuff up, or are our players just free wheeling?
A lot of our "crunch" time plays - on both ends - suck nuts.
I'd have preferred Crash or Ray driving to the basket...Crash was hitting his FTs last night...but these "end of game plays" do make me think "rec ball" on too many occasions so I'm with you there slam...

As I posted in the game thread, after Jack did that, he walked over to the huddle and tried to talk to LB, but LB refused to look him in the eyes, and turned away.
Unless he was just pissed it didn't go in, I don't think that's what was drawn up.
