Hi guys.I've posted on here from time to time and was wondering if you guys could help me out.I just bought a house in greensboro and have not signed up for a tv service yet.I really want to get direct tv because of all the sports packages, but it is my understanding that they black out alot of bobcats games and I just wanted to know if this is actually true, because i guess i would have to get time warner cable in that case.anyone in greensboro who could let me know i would really appreciate it.

p.s. I am also currently building a billiards room out back that i am going to put some flat screens in,so you guys hit me up and maybe we can have some bobcats parties at the house next season.

hey man.

i have dtv. i'm in sanford, about 50 mins from greensboro. dtv blacks out every bobcats game. you can't even get them on nba league pass. it really sux!!!!

i really love dtv but the blackout thing really bugs me. i do not have time warner in my area, only crappy charter. i'm stuck watching a crappy stream of the games online.

I think you're good in Greensboro, but at any rate DTV has this cool feature where you can type in your zip and it'll tell you which games you have access to:

http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/content/sports/nba_schedules

But that's for league pass.

Edit:

Actually, that's for both. I keyed in "27395" and (if I'm reading it correctly) the channels in blue are those you can get with a choice package or above...and the Bobcats' games aren't all in blue.

I'd be concerned.

Greensboro is outside of the 75-mile radius around the arena, so DISH and DIRECTV both have it blacked out.

I can tell you from experience living there that TWC is not that bad, and you can package it with Roadrunner which is your best option in the Boro. I'd just judge how important the 'Cats are versus the extra channels and better HD on DIRECTV. Even if you go DTV, you'll still get the NBA TV games, the WGN America games with the Bulls, and any ESPN/ABC or TNT coverage we'd get.

DTV is the best there is (and for anyone inside the 75mile radius, you have no excuse not to have it) but TWC beats any other cable company I've had. It's just which is more important to you.

Time Warner sucks balls.

If you were a DirecTV subscriber and moved from out of state into NC just don't tell them you moved and order League Pass. You'll get all the games and great HD channels and no worries of blackouts.

If that doesn't work just have all your statements forwarded to you online making it paperless and change your address to one out of state. Make sure you let them know so you won't be blacked out. You'll miss out on greensboro locals but you can pick those up via an over the air antenna or through TWC if you are paying them for road runner. All you have to do is hook up the cable to your TV tuner.

I've read about that before, but is it legal? If so, Spectre can get games too.

It's against the terms of service but really, who cares.

The only downside is if you can't take care of your own dish or if you haven't had directv at all then someone has to come on site to set it up.

Once you have all of the equipment it's a really simple process to do a move and change your address.

I get all the games telecast in Blowing Rock...the only black-outs are NBATV when the 'Cats are on...I'm directTV...

I'm not in Greensboro but I am outside of the Charlotte area on TWC. It has been tough in years past but now, I get 70+ games per year on either Fox SportsSouth or, if the Hurricanes play, I get them on special events channel 145. I, personally, couldn't be happier with TWC.

My brother lives across the street from me and has Dish Network...he gets about 5-10 games per year and everything else is blacked out.

Wife won't let me.

Why not? Is she that tied to local channels? Tell her it'll save your eyesight, since you won't be watching streams anymore. There's nothing else that you lose by getting it, and you'd be a much happier husband...
