I found it very interesting that Izzo was interested in the Bulls' job 2 years ago but their FO didn't reciprocate.

I'd much rather have had him over VDN.

Probably because VDN would play for food.

For a team that makes money (I think they're near the top) like the Bulls do it's amazing how cheap their ownership group is.

Wow...I don't know if I'd wish that one on my worst enemy!

VDN is paid in his hair product.

I don't know if Russian Mark Cuban wants JVG though, unless he's planning on sending him to the Russian Mafia instead of firing him in a few years.

Wright would be a good choice, I think Izzo's too old for a longtime job though. But that's just me.

I think thats a bit harsh. I wouldn't wish that upon a team made up of the Boston Celtics, Red Sox, New York Rangers and Minnesotia Vikings.

teej...I got the distinct impression that the Nets new owner is leaving it to Thorn...and Thorn like JVG...but I'm not sure why you'd knock Izzo for his age since he's at least a "century" (sarcasm) younger than LB...

He's 55, so believe it or not he's only 14 years younger than LB, and I don't feel comfortable with LB's age really - he looks like he's going to cough up a lung and die on the court every 5 games.

But if I were hiring a coach to build a young team, I just wouldn't go with an AARP card holder who's only been a head coach twice: once in HS and now at MSU. No NBA experience whatsoever. But that's just me, and it's worked before.

I'm not sure they would go wrong with Izzo...IMO he'd be a solid coach for a young team...if he's ever going to make the jump it would have to be now and Wright has given clear indications he's not leaving 'Nova...

Don't get me wrong, he's done an amazing job at Michigan State. They've been better than anyone else on a very consistent basis. But, seeing how guys like John Calipari, Tim Floyd, Rick Pitino, even Indy's Jim O'Brien have been far better in college than the pros, I'm just wary of college to NBA coaches. Look at all the current playoff teams, and you'll see only LB has coached a D-1 or I think even D-2 college.

I'm usually more than a little leery of colleges coaches jumping to the NBA...I just think Izzo is one that could if it was a building job...and the Nets are all that...just a hunch...

I think the issue with college coaches in the NBA is the control factor (LB notwithstanding). They get to recruit and run the team however they see fit and have unwavering faith and respect of all the players. They move to the NBA and realize that a lot of the guys are there for the job and money, not necessarily the love of the game.

That said, I think guys like Coach K, Dean Smith, and Bobby Knight would be/would've been great NBA coaches

True...some coaches can coach regardless of the place...and totally agree on the "control" issue...
