No he isnt anywhere near that level at the moment, however i am in the camp that firmly believes that Ajinca will be a very good NBA player. He has had 2 years to put on muscle and learn the US game and how it differs to Europe. In his stint in the D league with the red claws he played very well and got into the d league all star team... unfortunatly his broken ligiment in his hand stopped him from playing and he wont be back till play off time where i doubt he would play much unless we have even more injuries with our bigs. The D league is the D league and its obviously no where near the standerd of the NBA but i think he did show promise. In the preseason games he also showed promise and many were frustrated when he didnt get his playing time, usually because he got in quick foul trouble. Ajinca's "project" i believe is over, he has put on alot of muscle, adjusted and just when he was gaining confidence he gets this injury, plus something some may not know, in France Ajinca used to hit 3's... but apparantly LB doesnt want his bigs out near the perimeter.
Next year i hope Ajinca gets an inrease in time of rotation, what are other peoples thoughts? I understand if you all say he was a waste of a draft pick, but im sure he will prove you wrong.

A lot of people on this forum are gonna give you heat for this thread, but I personally think Ajinca can be a very good player one day. All-Star? Not sure about that. But Ajinca showed me a lot when he was in the D-League before his injury. You could tell things were starting to click with him. And he also packed on a lot of weight, he no longer looked skinny as a rail.

But a lot of people on this forum like labeling 21 yr old players as busts. I feel it's too soon to label him that. Oh well...

People had him labelled as a bust because of his work ethic. Now he's proven he wants to play and is putting in the hard work, people may revise how they look at him.

he looked a lot bigger in the d-league footage I saw, hopefully he keeps that up in the offseason. A beefy Ajinca could be quite scary

he is the turd of the ammo, may and AA shit sandwich that is our drafting travesty. of course, a sandwich is only as good as the bread, and ammo and may make a great dish.

i hope i am wrong, but don't think i am.

I watched him play in the D-League a lot this year. When it comes to his potential as an Allstar I only have one question about his physical talent and that is his endurance. He looks tired sometimes and doesn't always show enough effort to get involved in the play. Sometimes instead of running to a spot where he can get involved he stands around watching to see what is going to happen. He may have gained some upper body weight but his legs are still very slender. He could really use a lot of work on a bicycle or in a pool. Larry is not going to tolerate a lack of effort.

Beyond that, 90% of what it takes to be an Allstar is between the ears. The NBA is full of guys that have loads of talent, what makes some players truly special is the way they approach the game mentally. He is still a young guys so we will see.

ironic you talk about sandwich's when your user nams is chef:g:..... okay sorry where was i... i see potential in the guy, pack on the pounds bit more work on his game and i reckon he can be a solid starter, all star? hmmm... he's got time on his side anyway.

Agreed. If he just gives 75% effort, he's better than most bigs on an NBA bench. He can be a better version of Nazr if he tries.

Sean May already ate that sandwich.

ajinca could help us at some point, not trying to compare but jermaine oneal was considered a bust at about the same age as ajinca, once he started to put in the work he became a real good nba player. hope one day we will say the same about ajinca

Then why name the this thread, "Ajinca, a future Allstar? (http://www.bobcatsplanet.com/vb/showthread.php?p=162329#post162329)"

He's a much better player after working on his moves in the D League. He went from routinely settling for 18-footers to posting up with confidence, drop-stepping for dunks and adding a hook shot. Let's see him match up with some of the big guys in the NBA first and see what happens before we give him the crown.

unless he can drop step dunk from the foul line he won't be doing it on nba big men. that is where they will push him to when he tries to post.
