....be our starting center for the playoffs?
I do. Since he has been healthy(or getting healthy anyway) he has been making some great plays and playing great overall games.
I don't know, depends on who we play. If we play Orlando, I'll go Theo. If we play ATL, I'll go Tyson.

Teams who win playoff series don't have Theo Ratliff has their starting center.

Theo Ratliff is a zombie, Zombies don't make sense. He blocks shots and eats brains thats all he knows. But Tyson has impressed me with his effort lately. Since he couldn't catch a baby if you handed it to him, He's made contributions in alot of other area's. Tyson, Ratliff,Nazr and Diop maybe, thats alot of fouls to throw around at Superman.

The good thing about TC is that he's a team player. He doesn't mind coming off the bench, and it doesn't really matter since he's getting around 30ish mins per night. So he's really getting low starter minutes even though he's coming off the bench.
If he starts in the playoffs, that's fine with me. I just hope if we're vs magic that he doesn't give us 2 quick fouls...then we have a problem (since he's probably our best Center defensively wise [with theo at 2nd, only slightly below him]).
One of the main reasons I like Ratliff starting right now is it avoids the possibility of Chandler picking up a couple of quick fouls (either underneath or setting picks). I am especially worried about this against Orlando and Dwight Howard. What is wrong with Ratliff starting and playing smart, veteran defense against Dwight for 5-6 minutes and then bringing in Chandler?
Chandler has great energy off the bench and as long as he gets starters minutes, who cares if he actually starts or not.
Two months ago, I would have agreed 100% with the statement that teams that win playoff series don't have Theo Ratliff starting but...I have had my eyes opened by what Theo is able to do within LB's system. I have been very impressed to say the least.
Against a team with Dwight Howard, we are probably going to need a whole stable of competent centers if we want to have a chance to win...luckily, for the first time ever, we actually have our stable full!
I want a first round win! Go Bobcats!

We must have been typing basically the same thing at the same time. I like the way you think Toocool!

Isn't it nice that we're able to have this conversation?
I'm just going to vote for whatever's working from game to game. If Dwight is kind of quiet and Nazr's hitting let's get some offense. If Dwight is trying to beast (I imagine he will the 1st game) then start Theo but gimme plenty of TC.
Whatever the case ILBIT.

I think tyson is our best centre, however he should not start vs Dwight Howard as we dont want our best players to come up with 2 quick fouls 3 mins into the game which is very possible. Theo gets my vote, as naz may still be getting his legs back.
I like our "three headed monster" approach especially against Howard...use the "monster" and make him work both ends...

^What he said, if TC starts he will undoubtedly get in early foul trouble.I mean it's Orlando,it's their homecourt,it's the playoffs and it's TC.We need TC in the game as much as possible with Nazr.Ratliff and Gana can provide the "frustrate D12" tactics.

No, I dont think the Big TY should start. He isnt strong enough to handle Dwight. But I think Tyson brings more energy to the bench. Theo or Nazr should get the start, but Tyson needs a lot of playing time

DH12 is a very angry angry manchild. TC will frustrate him to no end if he's able to hold him. When DH12 is frustrated, he gives away at least 1 frustration foul, if we're lucky more than one. He also pulls in a lot of technicals. TC will frustrate him to no end with his long ass arms. Ratliff and Gana will frustrate him with their big body sizes and length. And Nazr will frustrate DH12 by dunking on his ass.

Have you actually been watching the games lately? Coach, since TC got back in the game, has fallen into a start Theo and get him to play a solid 5 mins, the rotate in TC until halftime or TC gets 2 fouls. Wash and repeat in the 2nd half, with Theo playing a little more if he is having a good game or TC is NOT.
TC has been getting in the 30 Min range off the bench and does not mind coming in as a 2. So what would be a reason to NOT start my favorite 36 year old shot blocking monster?

I think our best match ups with Howard would be Gana Diop, TC, and Boris Diaw. Dwight is so comfortable bullying smaller player and I don't think Nazr or Theo have the bulk to battle with him. Diop may be totally useless to but he might have a big enough body to bother him. TC can at least try to bother him with his length. Diaw is very crafty as a defender in the post and can draw him away from the basket on the other end. Any way we go we are going to need a lot of help and to be selective about who we let have open threes.

I'm pretty sure both Nazr and Theo are bulkier players than TC. Nazr has been our best center this season, but he hasn't really played in so long that I don't know what to expect from him. With TC we know we'll get some good D, a lot of fouls, tons of dropped passes and plenty of 3 second violations. Theo is certainly less frustrating to watch, probably not as effective overall though. Tyson has been doing better off the bench so if Nazr isn't ready to go I'd keep doing what we've been doing.
