What point, we're talking about Lewis being overpaid. No one said he sucks. Fact is, the Magic overpaid for him. There were not many teams knocking on Lewis's door when he was a free agent. The Magic could have signed him for a lot less. But they let Lewis and his agent hustle them. And his contract is the reason the Magic couldn't resign Hedo.

Just because we believe in our team doesnt make us stupid. Stack Jack and Wallace will show you how to play in the playoffs.

Obviously you have enough interest in the matchup to come on this board and talk smack about the Magic.

By the way, Rashard Lewis isnt that good. Has he done anything this year? One game against the Bobcats this year, he threw up 3-4 air balls.

I don't know where this is coming from. Orlando was an expansion team in 1989, so you should know what it's like to feel that first playoff appearance, or have drafted that bust. You guys barely have any history yourself. Not even a championship. You got lucky with Shaq in the '92 draft, and then somehow got the first pick (traded for Penny Hardaway and three future first-round picks) the following year when the Vagic missed the playoffs because Indiana held the tiebreaker. Charlotte had the Hornets, remember? They pounded your prissy Magicians 3 games to 1 in the first round in '02. There's a fanbase here and we have more knowledge about the game than you ever will. So go wash your face and apply that Proactive acne medication before bed and wake up to your alarm clock which plays your favorite Justin Bieber song and get to school. Yo ass needs an education.

Rashard hasn't "completely" played his worth, but he did help the Magic to the 2nd round in the '08 Playoffs and made great post moves in last years 1st round playoff round against Philly in Dwight's absence. I can't help but mention that crazy elbow 3 in the series we beat the NBA's favorite player LeBron James. Hey guys, I'm super stoked for you making it to the "big dance" for the first time in your franchise's existence. I really am. It's exciting. Hell, I remember when my Magic made it for their first time like it was yesterday. Good stuff (God, I was so young).

But here's the skinny, kitty, Dwight has been playing with a fire in his belly the entire season. Gone is the smiling, happy-go-lucky, devil may care, attitude. He's humbled, and determined. And nothing scares me more than a God-fearing man on a mission. We will win this series, even if it will be extremely hard fought.

We're not looking OVER you, so much as looking through you as a means to an end: the trophy. We, as a fanbase, have a healthy respect for you guys, and the talent and coaching staff you possess. But my Magic are too pumped, too set on their goal, to let a first timer take us out.

Philly gave us a wake up call last year; consider us awoken. Enjoy your first playoff series, it will be a barn-burner for sure. May the best team win, even if I don't think it'll be your team. ;)

Nothing but love, and competitive banter. Keep it classy, Kitties.

I heard of this forum, unfortunately, on the Orlando Magic forum. I decided I'd come over and check out what you guys had to say about our upcoming series...big mistake. I get the excitement, trust me, I just think many of you need to go back and re-read some of your posts, they are absolutely comical.

I'm not here to talk smack per se, I just had to offer my two cents. First of all, your bench is nowhere near the best in the East. Saying so essentially means if every GM in the East had their pick of which bench could instantly be theirs, they'd pick yours. That's outrageous. Conversely, Orlando does indeed have the best bench in the league. The only other team in the NBA who can come close to making that claim is the Lakers, and IMO they don't. They have a better overall player coming off their bench in Odom, than any player on our bench, but as a whole our bench is more talented and deeper than theirs. Compared to your bench it's not even a contest, I can't believe the thought would even cross any of your minds.

For Charlotte to have any chance in this series two things have to happen. The first thing is Charlotte will have to play their best four games of the season, the second thing is Orlando will have to play their worst four games of the season. Those two things combined will have to occur or else Charlotte stands no chance. That's not me being a homer, that's not me talking shit, that's flat out what will have to happen if you hope to see the second round.

Orlando has the better starting five, the better bench, more veteran leadership, more playoff experience, better chemistry, THE best player in the series...by far, the better offensive team, the better defensive team and without a doubt hands down the better road team. None of that is my opinion, it's all fact.

That's a steep hill to climb for any team. My prediction is a 4-1 series win for Orlando. Philly got two against us last year in the first round so it's reasonable to expect at least one loss against you guys.

You're saying Boston wouldn't love to trade in Nate Robinson and Rasheed Wallace's fatass for DJ Augustin, Tyson Chandler, and Tyrus Thomas? Cleveland wouldn't give up Boobie Gibson, Leon Powe, and Big Z for our trio? Atlanta isn't interested in them? Sure, we aren't the best bench. But when 5 guys coming off the bench have started a playoff game and all of the rotation sans DJ Augustin and Ray Felton have multiple trips to the postseason, it's at least in the discussion. BTW, Lakers bench blows. They have Odom and jack shit else.

As far as the other part of your post, I don't see how it can be "fact" that the Magic have more chemistry or a better starting five. Stats will disagree over the "best" defensive team, and leadership may be a strong point in DisneyWorld but I think I've proven we have veteran leaders too, since we only have 5 guys on the entire roster are under 25.

And for the rest of you guys, explain how you're winning this series 4-1 or 4-0 when we're down a total of 10 points in 3 meetings since we acquired Captain Jack. We lost on his first day 97-91 after Vinsanity made a long, long 3. We lost in overtime when we came out flat. We won by 7 without our All-Star. It's no cakewalk for you guys, and whoever said you would've liked someone else, you're right.

Are the 'Cats going to win? I doubt it. But it would in no way shock me if you guys go home early.

Stats won't disagree with anything. You're clearly looking at PPG allowed and drawing your conclusions from that. Hollinger's stat....defense efficiency...rank us number 1, albeit only slightly ahead of you. We also lead the league in defensive FG %. Factor in we lead the NBA in blowout wins (10+ point margin of victory) and our defensive stats are even more impressive. Why? When you routinely blowout your opponents there's a lot of garbage time, defensive focus clearly isn't a priority during garbage time, yet we STILL lead the NBA in defense. I have no doubt that if we were in more close games our lead in defense would be staggering.

And are you REALLY comparing your starting five to ours? Please tell me you aren't that delusional. There isn't a single coach or GM in the NBA who would take your starting five over ours, not one...not even your own. I mentioned chemistry because of the trades you made. It takes time for a team to gel, which is why Orlando has played better as the season has gone along. I also never disputed you having vet leadership, it's just not as experienced or as abundant as ours.

A few more stats:

1. We lead the league, by far, in three's made. You give up the 5th most three's in the league.

2. You guys rank second to last in TO's. Ranking only ahead of Minnesota. In the playoffs where every possession counts, that doesn't bode well for your team. You force the 5th most, so it will offset some of your own TO's, but perhaps not enough.

3. You give up the fewest points per game, but you score the third fewest. You remind me of the 1999 Tampa Bay Buccaneers, all defense no offense.

4. You rank 22nd in FG %. Dwight will take care of the paint, as he always does in the playoffs, and force you guys to take more jump shots than you'd like. You aren't a great shooting team. Your best scoring threat, Jackson, is a 42 % career shooter, right in line with this seasons percentage. He's going to have to up that percentage significantly if you guys are going to stay in the game.

Another note about Orlando, we didn't lose the season series to any team this year, the only team in the NBA who can make that claim. I just don't see Charlotte winning four of seven.

If all the Magic fans trolling this board could hold a intelligent discussion like you, the world would be a far smarter place. Instead they make decent Magic fans look bad because they can't spell for nuts.

I assure you, several teams would take our starting five over anyone. We have a solid PG, All-star caliber SG and SF, a versatile PF and a massive defensive presence in TC. I don't see how some teams wouldn't take their starting five over ours. Sure we may not have one "big" superstar, but that means we work as a team. As for leadership, Felton, Crash, Jax and TC are the leaders. On the defensive end, TC is the big dog. He's the Godfather, Theo's the bodyguard.

In the locker room, Felton, Crash and Jax lead by example. Actions speak louder than words, and you can see they command a lot of respect from this team. It does take time for a team to gel, none of us are denying it. We have plenty of vets also. Only guys who aren't 25 and over are TT, DJ, Hendo and UPS, but they're all mature guys with playoff experience (or in their cases, NCAA/ACC (w.e it's called) tournament experience)

As for whether we line up well with you guys, if you guys go cold on the 3 point end, we have a chance to win. Sure you can pump it in to Howard, but then he can only do so much against defensive specialists such as TC and Theo, with great help-side defenders such as Crash and TT. We'll have much better help with TC than Cavs did with Z, because TC can jump higher and is faster and quicker.

Something to note, if Dwight gets in foul trouble, he can't protect the paint. When that happens, will Gortat be able to hold down the fort as decently as Howard? SVG can't play Howard 48 minutes a game.

Magic have great players. I cheered for them to beat Lebron, then later Kobe. The series will be fun to watch. Just something to note though. We have nothing to loose. We finally made the playoffs. Magic have everything to gain with expectation. We made the playoffs, and we're happy. You guys are surging for a championship. If we keep our core team together, we'll see you next year and then it'll be an utterly brilliant playoff series.

I find your posts far more refreshing than that guy who is spouting "we win in 3 games...wtf?"

3. The Magic have not shown to have any advantage over our team this year. Jackson arrival, OT, win without our best player. I'll take that all day.

Don't be so daft; we have plenty of mature, good-natured CAVS fans, our most hated rival at the moment, on our board, and they've been there for some time now. If you come on, and actually have an intelligent debate, regardless of what some of the other idiots on our board would say, the VETS, like me and a bunch of others, would gladly speak with you in a civil manner.

My grandma always used to say: "Don't knock it, till you try it."

As to your other points: I get it, you're a proud guy. I completely understand. But pride comes before a fall. You guys should be HUMBLE, and grateful, to be in this position.

Does that sound condescending? Probably, but your attitude (talking about the players, obviously) is gonna go a long way. But I'm sure a legend like Larry Brown is gonna be teaching you guys very well, and preparing them for a hell of a first round.

Like I said, it's gonna be a dog-fight, but our boys are gonna be razor-sharp, and more focused than they've ever been. We sniffed the championship last year; got to within 3 games of winning it... nothing, and I mean absolutely NOTHING, is gonna stand in our way this year.

Too over-the-top? Sure. True? Yes.

To your points: It is refreshing to see a Magic fan that doesn't seem to be defensive and arrogant. For that, I thank you. I'll agree with you that there are dumb asses on every forum. It just sucks that the majority of the magic fans who came here are of that sort as (and I have said this before) it would be nice to debate the series with some people who have more knowledge on the Magic. Hopefully you and a few other mature members can come talk.

Funny that you make the Tar-Heels comment: I'm actually a rabid Tar-Heels fan as well (had family members that graduated from there in the late 80s, early 90s). I've watched them since I was a lad. Which is why when we got Carter, I squealed with glee.

As for my name, well I chose this name when I joined the Magic boards. It was during the 2007 playoffs, and I thought we should play Redick because we needed more offensive production off the bench (you could only get so much out of Tony Battie, Brian Cook, Pat Garrity, and Mo Evans).

I honestly HATED Redick when he was on Duke. HATED HIM. He would torch the Heels, as I'm sure you remember. He was cocksure, arrogant, and flippant. But good God, do I love having him on my team now.

Also, if I ever come off as arrogant, or cocky, please understand that I do not represent the majority of Vet posters on the Magic boards. My opinion is solely my own. I mean no disrespect. I came on here to talk about the upcoming series, and concede that it will be a hell of a fight. And trust me, SVG will NOT be overlooking your team. He has a healthy respect for the unpredictability of the 1st round. ESPECIALLY against a quality opponent.

I just wish it was starting today! I've gotten so blase about the regular season. The postseason is, to me, the REAL season.

Thanks for the warm welcome, and I look forward to talking to you guys more as the series progresses.

No worries. I was a little concerned with the general Magic fans when the first 5 came over with the name calling and whatnot. But it seems we have lured one of the more intelligent/mature posters, which is refreshing.

I'll try and get a comparison thread up here in a few days to see where the strengths of either team matchup. Stick around, your input would be appreciated :cheers1:

As to your other points: I get it, you're a proud guy. I completely understand. But pride comes before a fall. You guys should be HUMBLE, and grateful, to be in this position.

This is the only thing I take offense to in all that you said. You come across as much more intelligent than the initial trolls we saw, but just as you say nothing will stop the Magic, we believe we have a chance. We don't need to be humble, we need to fight hard, like this Bobcats team has all year.

Unfortunately, I realized a little too late that that sounded entirely more arrogant than I wanted it to.

I give you guys all the credit in the world. You have a scrappy, physical team, with a proven scorer in Jax, and a defensive stopper in Wallace (whom I wish we would have signed over Shard, but if Lewis' contributions in the postseason persist, I'll be happy with the way things turned out).

I, as a fan, am looking to the future, because I want to get back to the Finals. And win. But as for my team, I KNOW SVG is taking you guys as serious as a heart attack right after a sudden stroke... which, if his blood pressure stays at a high clip, isn't too far off for our wonderful coach.

This is gonna be a hell of a series. I am very much looking forward to it. Because our road to the Finals will be that much sweeter playing such a high caliber, quality, team such as the Cats in the first round. I'm just glad, looking ahead, that the Cavs get to play the Celtics in the 2nd round... if things shake up the way they currently are.

Also, I'm looking forward to contributing to the comparison thread. Should be good fun to break it down by the numbers and see where our teams stack up.

Cheers.

Thank you for not being a douche like a couple other members of your team's fanbase. You are welcome here

No worries man, and thanks for the welcome. I know how awful it can be when idiots from the opposing team pester our board (feels like being violated). But I also know how bad it is, sometimes even worse, to have idiots on OUR side of the tracks.

I'm here in good spirits, albeit I'll get rather competitive as well (in a friendly manner, of course), and will attempt to contribute as constructively as possible (been a Magic fan since I was 8 years old, and that was 21 years ago when we were an expansion team... hence me being a life-long fan... lol).

I really just wish the damn series would start TODAY.

I dont want to tell other people what to do, but you Magic fans need to GTFO. This is a Bobcats fan board, where Bobcats fans talk to Bobcats fans in manners that makes them ashamed they are using the same mouths they kiss their mothers with. We can say whatever we want. I can appreciate an educated conversation with anybody, but i really dont see a reason any Orlando fans should be posting here. You have your own boards to talk about the Magic, why dont you go their to discuss your opinions. I joined here to talk about the Bobcats, not for this to become the United Nations of NBA message boards, where just about anyone who has team they pull for can get in; if i am not mistaken their are message boards that specialize in that sort of stuff.

Thats just my opinion, feel free to do what you want. Im sure a lot of people disagree with me. Im just putting my views out their/letting how i feel be known. Not that it even matters....

We've all just gotten unused to it, thats all. I remember the Milwaukee series back in 01 and how douchey the Bucks fans were on the Charlotte.com boards (DAMN, that was a long time ago)

I don't remember any of those jackhole predicting Bucks in 3 though :p

You're more than entitled to your opinion, and I would never try to take that away from you, but come on; we didn't wake up in Soviet Russia this morning. This is America, home of the free, and land of the idiots who follow Sarah Palin.

The Internet is a wondrous place, full of tubes, and porn. And the freedom to express oneself is the whole idea of the intrawebz.

If I want to participate in an Orlando Magic circle-jerk with like-minded people, verbally masterubating to the awesomeness that is my favorite team in the history of professional sports, then I can do that over there.

HERE, on the other hand, I can talk serious basketball, and get opposing viewpoints on the games at hand. I like that. It's the same reason I watch Wolf Blitzer and Sean Hannity... two opposing points of view, to help form my own opinion. Granted, I'll never be a Bobcats fan, per se, but I do have a healthy respect for your team. And I would definitely like to get to know more about the team, and its loyal fans.

By the by, Larry Johnson was one of my favorite players to ever don a Charlotte jersey... him and Mugsy Bogues.

The "management" has no problem with you guys coming over as long as you're respectful. Just like you can ignore Betcats et al, Betcats can stay away from these threads...
