Heard this today on Mike and Mike in the morning. After last nights game, Tyreke Evans has had a Rookie Season with averages of 20 pts 5 sssists and 5 rebounds per game. Outstanding numbers for a Rookie. Who else has done it? Just 3 others: Oscar Robertson, MJ, and LeBron James. Pretty good company. I will enjoy seeing if he can build on those numbers his Sophmore season.

Maybe it's my superficial sense of hype, but I'm just not super impressed with Evans. Granted, he'll be a fantastic NBA player-- an all-star-- for sure. However, he doesn't seem anywhere near the game changer of those other guys.
I'm ready to be proven wrong. In fact, I'm scheduled for a proven-wrong in about 15 minutes.

I absolutely agree that he is not, and likely will never be, as complete a player as any of those 3. But in all fairness, those are 3 of the best 10 to ever play the game. I just think that those stats show that he is going to be a terrific Pro, and likely a mulit-year All Star in years to come. I mean, think about how many Rookies have come thru the NBA over the last 50 years. And he is only the 4th to accomplish this feat? You have to give him his due. It is impressive.

I give it up. But, usually when people toss out those types of stats, they're selling the player as a sure fire HOF type, and I'm not sure Evans is that. Maybe I just haven't seen him play enough.

Evans will be a special player when he develops a jumpshot. If i recall, LBJ had to develop that too.
