View Full Version : Diaw Sucks - Play TT more

I am usuallly long winded so i will keep this short. Diaw is not the reason we are losing but he is not helping. I am so sick of watching his lazy lacksidasical ass mosey up and down the court.
He needs to go.....that is all

I don't think this game was hinged on Diaw being lacksadaisacle as much as him not really feeling it tonight. In game one he actually played half assed well. I do however agree with you that TT needs more playing time. There was no reason Diaw should have been on the floor as much as he was when he was not playing well.
I also agree that we have seen plenty of times where Diaw was a jerk and obviously was not commited to playing for the team. Tonight I am not sure that was the Diaw we saw. I think when Diaw is off he tends to stop trying hard or he does not try to play through rough patches. So I don't think he was being a jerk as much as following a pattern he has been known to follow at times.
Next season I would like to see him gone. I just don't think we can afford to have him give up when things aren't going well or when he is displeased with some nitpick thing.
Larry Brown tends to be loyal to a fault. It would be nice if coach knew when to pull the plug on a sluggish or underachieving player.

Diaws game doesn't translate well against the Magic. We need a post scorer badly. Really anyone who can score would be nice. Its a shame we have so much money locked up in average-bad bigs. Chris Paul or Dirk on this team and we might not lose a game for a whole season. (semi-sarcastic)

With the worse +/- tonight and he still gets 39 minutes. TT is so much better covering Shard from the perimeter than Diaw.I don't understand LB not playing TT more.
I hate watching Diaw dribble from the perimeter do his silly little crossover dribble, spin in the paint and throw up a thunderous layup or turn it over.
I pray to God we trade him in the off season but i can't see any team wanting his fat ass.
He's so soft, a microscopic piece of dust could lock his ass down on D.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm even more sick of Felton. At the moment, there is absolutely no reason to resign him for the amount of money he demands. If he wants 8-9 Million per year, then he should start playing like someone who deserves that much money. otherwise, sign for the MLE or GTFO

Agreed. I love Ray. He has great heart and is a great member of the team. But good point guard are a dime a dozen these days, and we could make due without him for that kind of money.

agree fully with this thread. diaw didn't sit until about 4 or 5 minutes into the 2nd quarter :o . he often was standing around and outside of the one flush, didn't show anything else, yet he got almost 40 minutes of burn. ridiculous! as for felts, i too love felton, but his minutes need to decrease. all he did was bring the ball up the court and call the play. he did hold jameer in check but he was really disappointing last night. since the last 5 games of the regular season and the first 2 games of this series, dj has shown his confidence and stroke again. if larry doesn't start playing him more, dj's confidence is going to go right back down the toilet.

Diaw is like a lot of European players. He is most comfortable when he isn't depended on night in and night out to score. If the Bobcats had one or two more scorers, Diaw would be that guy camped out at the three point line most of the night. His efforts to get in the paint half the time leads to turnovers and offensive fouls. I also agree resigning Felton would be a mistake. The Bobcats need an upgrade at the point guard position. Felton tries hard, but I am not sold that he can take this team to the next level. I wouldn't toss five million or more at Felton, when I think there will be better point guards looking for teams to join this summer.

TT doesn't match up well against Lewis which is one of the reasons why diaw plays more, one thing we need to do is move the ball better and get wallace more than 7 shots in a game. wallace is our low post option we need to iso him more on the post by pulling howard and others away from the basket while giving him time to work the post(he has shown he gets to line alot we need to use this more)

After those two games I am tired of everyone but Wallace. Diaw and DJ don't look like they want to shoot. You never know what TT will throw up when he gets the ball. Jackson shots to many jumpers and throws the ball away constantly. Felton has not looked like he is worth more then the mid level. We don't have anyone what consistently beats his man and draws more attention. The closest guy, Jackson, responds terribly to double teams, turning it over more then anything.
I think the overall problem is we are not well coached on that end. How many other teams can you think of that have no post threat, no elite shooters, and don't run every chance they get. The best thing for us to do is go small with Diaw on Howard. That way we can draw Howard away from the basket with the shooting of Diaw.

Boris is a puzzle that is hard to put together, that is for sure. However more often than not, after the All Star break Boris has contributed to our successes more than our failures. I don't think the man has been taking it easy or quitting on his teammates. He can be quite soft but he does a lot of the little things not statistically measured that helps our Bobcats. I don't think Boris played all that bad in game one. Well at least in comparison to his teammates. Our Bobcats have been overcome by nerves and being intimidated by the Magic. That happens to lower seeded teams. There are times when the lower seeded teams can give the top seeded teams a run for their money. Those times are when the players have experience together in the playoffs and they are not intimidated.
Our Bobcats are intimidated, nervous and are in the playoffs for the first time. Not only that but our guys are a 7th seed and they are playing a very GOOD Orlando team who fell short of the championship last season. I think that all adds up and should tell everybody all they need to know about this series so far.
Technically, despite being overmatched our guys CAN compete. With that said the reality is that a 1, 2, or 3 seed in the playoffs has no business losing in the 1st round of the playoffs. Those teams are where they are because they were the best in their conference. If the Bobcats somehow won the championship I would not complain but let's face it in all pro sports but hockey the top seeds prove why they are the top seeds more often than not.

There is a reason for that and it has nothing to do with having a bad basketball team. Our players are learning to handle success as a team. Also it is not like the current lineup has been in place all season. Before we throw Raymond under the bus and write off DJ let us remember that they have been a bit off in their FIRST playoff games of their careers.
Can we replace either one of them? I don't really know. What I can say is that Raymond has contributed to the Bobcats successes more than their failures. DJ came out slow this season and there is no doubt about that but he has been pretty good for our team as of late. So let us all take a chill pill and be happy that we even got to play in the playoffs. We have all been waiting for the Bobcats to get to this point and now we bitch cause they don't look like a one, two or three seed in the East.
The Magic is a team on a mission due to falling short of the championship last season and they are probably the deepest team in the NBA. They have a lot of guys who are hungry and know their roles on the team. Much of that comes from time together.
Diaw is Diaw. When Boris Sukov Diaw plays well he really helps our team but his inconsistent play has hurt us quite often. So for all the good Boris brings he far too often hurts our Bobcats.
Still, in the late season Boris has done more good than bad. It just so happens that the playoffs have not been kind to Boris. Larry is the one to take exception to more so than Boris. There is no way Boris should get so many minutes when he fades away and is nonexistent.
If our Bobcats look bad at home then I find it understandable to bitch and moan a LITTLE.
Anyone that has watched enough 7 vs 2 and 8 vs 1 match ups should not be terribly surprised how this series has turned out so far. Add to the seeding disparity the fact that as an organization the Bobcats are in their first playoff series and Orlando is a very good team coming from the finals last season. Yes we can expect our guys to come out playing better but we also should allow for the fact that this is a new journey for this program.
Several of our players have no playoff experience and just because a few do is not going to make our Bobcats world beaters. WE ARE A 7th SEED!!!

I think you're spot on with this. To paraphrase John Fox, we are what we are...a superb defensive team and a below average offensive team. Having a 4 or 5 who is a low post scoring threat would do soooooooo much for Crash and Jax, as would a few more people who can knock down perimeter shots at a high level. Unfortunately, we don't have that right now.
What we do have is a playoff-level team that I believe is taking the first steps of a journey to become a consistent winning franchise. Part of anyone's first steps involve stumbles, though, and this is what the 'Cats are going through. I do think they can get at least one game at home, but most importantly, I hope this group learns what it takes to be a upper-tier team from this experience.
In any event, isn't it better to be worried about how to slow down the Magic's offensive attack than to sit and see who gets sent to New Jersey for the lottery? This team has done very well this season, and no matter how it turns out, I think they have a lot to be proud of and a lot to drive them for success in the future.

DIAW AND FELTON. They both need to sit. I love what Ray has done for our team since he's been here. Nothing but 100% and a stand-up guy, but enough is enough. I've said for awhile, DJ is a better PG than Ray, point blank.
I've never seen someone get FORCED to switch on a pick-and-roll so many times. Felton gettin out of position on the picks is f'ing everybody else up and it contributes to us digging such a big hole form the beginning of the game. Offensively, I think Jameer is in his head. I've always liked Nelson's game, I wanted us to draft him actually, but he is NOT as good as Felton is making him look. Ray is horrible in this series and if LB wasn't so loyal to him he should bench him for DJ.
I can see why we're gonna let him walk this summer.
TT needs to play more as well. Diaw is so soft it's disgusting. You're a perimeter playing, ball handling 4? Then do that... So why is Lewis still standing wide open multiple times a game from the corners??? He won't bang he just prances around all game... I'm tired of it.
I'm not saying I'm a better coach than LB or know more bball than him, but the shit that we are messing up is elementary stuff. Watching that 1st qtr, you couldn't even tell if it was an NBA team or a Norweigian middle school team. It was unbearable... And it won't be fixed until Felton and Diaw sit more and Dj and TT play more in their place.

Tex is right. We've struggled in these matchup zones all year so I don't know why everyone is suddenly shocked that we'd have trouble now.
The defense has been there. Felton struggled in the 1st half of the 1st game but in the 2nd I think he did a great job defending Nelson. Some bitch about the switching...think maybe that's the gameplan since Nelson hit all those sick shots in the 1st half of the 1st game? Remember...he was sinking fadeaway's over Boris. Either way they're setting hard screens; in those instances it's up to the screen defender to help take Nelson's penetration away.
Stopping Dwight has it's causes and effects. To ignore that and just bash our own players without recognizing that is pretty darn narrow minded.
It's the offense and the TOs. How many did Jax have last game...7? We've ALWAYS struggled against the top defensive teams (anyone remember Boston?).
Realistically...what in the hell did you guys expect?
spectre
04-23-2010, 05:21 AM
I'd like to see more offense from Boris...but again, what was really expected? He's been working his ass off defensively trying to cover for the overplays on Dwight. Lewis slides out to the corner and camps there but Boris can't just hang with him...so Lewis gets the ball and hits a 3. Shocker!
TT over Boris is a joke. It's another knee jerk reaction that I'd expect over on the ESPN boards or RGM. I think we're smarter than that.

I started the thread. I even said it is too late somewhere to sit Boris for TT. That should have happened 2 months ago.
Diaw is too tentative and soft. I actually think he has the most naural taent on this team. Unfortunately he does not transfer that into the necessary effort it takes to get results.
We brought TT here because we desperately needed a strong, athletic back up power forward. He bring energy and intensity to the game. His game is VERY raw still but watching Boris drag his fat ass up and down the court makes me want to toss my TV out the window.
This team needs two things:
1) Less centers but at least a reliable quality one
2) A legit PF that will bring it every night
Until then we are at best a lower seed playoff team. I am fine with that this year but same team next year will get the same results which will not be acceptable. Felton is not the problem (I am reading other posts) yes he could have played better in this series but overall he is solid. JAX and Wallace do their thing (While they are not to me superstars by any stretch and have limitations they bring it night in and night out and make the most of their talent). Our bench is not the best but it serves it's role.
Diaw and out Center situation is the issues. The center situation is not going to resolve soon but PLEASE of PLEASE bring TT back next year and Diaw should earn his minutes not be allowed to just go thru the motions 8 games out of 10
spectre
04-23-2010, 09:26 AM
I agree with you Robert.
A good PF is very hard to find, and esp. one that contributes to ball movement like Boris does. And with this team makeup we HAVE to have someone who can help keep the ball moving. Crash nor Jax help that (and indeed hurt it a lot of times). We have no post up C and we don't have a dominant PG like Paul or Williams. Until we address this I think we have to have a guy like Boris playing a lot of minutes.
Thing with Boris tho is he's like Mek in regards to showing that aggression. We keep seeing signs of "what he could be" every so often but he just won't bring it every game. I've come to the conclusion that hoping for that change is fool's gold...he's never going to change.
Regarding TT...I have seen him make some good passes in traffic (in fact I remember commenting about that after his 1st game or so). Maybe he can help in that regard once he becomes comfortable getting steady PT. For this season tho Robert is right...way too late now. TT's all about getting offense when he comes in, and that's typical of a guy coming off the bench getting spotty minutes.
This summer hopefully will help.

He is a FA this summer - it's 50/50 at best he is even resigned.
I would love for him to stay. If he is not going to we sure as hell need to develop Derrick Brown - he simply must get burn. I have talked to him about his PT after some games and you can tell he is irked he cant get minutes and this was before the TT aquisition

Robert, does he seem irked with LB or himself? He clearly has earned the PT but if he's not happy with LB, then he needs to mature some, which is why he's sitting.

Something along the lines of "Tex criticising pessimism is colossally fucked up"
BobCatsFanInTx

Something along the lines of "Tex criticising pessimism is colossally fucked up"I feel that I am critical when it seems necessary. When the team seems to learn nothing and they continue to make the SAME mistakes I get critical. When players don't show improvement in personal play and make the same stupid mistakes I take exception.
My biggest problem with our Bobcats is their inconsistency and brain dead periods of time when they seem to be confused or trying too hard to make things happen.
With that said, I am 38 years old and have been watching basketball since age thirteen. I have seen teams similar to the Bobcats and I have seen some get better and some seem stuck in loser mode. One example is the ineptitude of the LA Clippers for over 30 years. So when I bitch I am only doing so out of a concern our Bobcats never are more than an also ran or never ran like the Clippers.
That said I believe in Larry Brown and I believe he will keep that from happening. I just have to call shitty play shit when I see it, be it team shit or player shit.
My optimism at this time is that our Bobcats did make the playoffs. Some of the shitty play is part of a learning process and nerves. Million dollar players or not. Our guys for the most part were showing that they were learning and that is a positive. Our Bobcats were in over their heads quite a bit against a battle tested Magic team with more overall depth and talent.
I gave our team credit for a better than expected season. Do I think there is room for our Cats to grow? YES. I believe they will.
By the way many on this forum have been Bi Polar with their post as well and I am not the rule or the exception. I just think that we need to relax a bit, rather than start throwing players who have been a positive all season under the bus.
Many of you who discuss my optimism/pessimism are doing the same thing. I can find plenty of post where people have done as I am accused of. Over the course of a season there will be plenty of positive and negative post. I happen to think negative at this time is defeatist and demoralizing after all our Bobcats have done.

All i know is my wish was granted and TT got more time and who can argue he did not make the most of it.
We better keep him, he is a future all star when he develops a back to the basket post game.
He needs to start next year - put Diaw's fat ass on the bench and preferably the trading block (who would take him though) and make him work for minutes
