As our season draws to an end, either tonight, a week from now in game 7.....or hopefully in the Finals after a miraculous run :D, I'd like to ask everyone: (My answers on the the side)

What made you a Bobcats fan? I have been a Bobcats fan since the start...I was a huge Hornets fan but then I just switched over after we got another team here.

I was just flipping through the channels in the 2006-2007 season and decided to watch a Bobcat game out of pure boredom. Wallace went off for 42 points in that game and I've been hooked ever since.

I have always been a huge basketball fan, but I never really latched on to the Bobcats when they began playing. I went to UNC-Charlotte and really found an appreciation for the City of Charlotte, and love to support it. I went to a game a few years back (Against the Magic...) and I loved how scrappy our team was. It was obvious the talent level wasn't there, but the effort was great.

Im a fan for a few reasons...

-I'm a native Charlottean and have supported all of our local major sports franchises
-The Bobcats from day 1 have played a tough, hard nosed style of basketball that I really admire
-The Bobcats are the first minority owned major sports franchise, built and funded off BET (Black Entertainment Television) money. This probably doesnt mean alot to some people, but for some african americans it means alot. Seeing not one, but two african americans in the owners box is something that has never happened in American sports history. Its a major accomplishment that wont be fully appreciated until 20-30 years down the line.

When NBA expansion happened for the first time in my old enough to understand and be a part of it life I was excited about new teams entering a sport I loved. It was 1988 I was 18 and I was so excited to see new teams competing in a sport I loved. I heard all the arguments about why expansion would be the ruin of the NBA and knew it was BS. All the talk about expansion watering down the sports talent was just that, talk!!!

Anyway, of all the new teams coming out in 88 and 89 I liked the Hornets and Magic the most. I however loved the enthusiasm of the Hornets fans and how they embraced their new team. I loved the look of their jerseys, their logo and their colors. I followed the Hornets all the way till they left Charlotte. When the Hornets left it just did not seem right. I had no affiliation with NC or Charlotte but somehow felt the pain to a lesser extent the people of NC were feeling.

When it was official that Charlotte would again get another team I just felt all those years supporting a team in your state and biggest city could not go to waste. So I immidiately jumped on the Bandwagon for the new expansion team in Charlotte. I have followed the Bobcats from the beginning and will continue to do so. Even if I think they could have built themselves better. I do have faith now that MJ is an owner that things will be brighter over the next several years. I don't know how big the window is for our Bobcats to compete for titles each season but I do believe they will be an upper tier team in the East for a fair amount of time. I think our Bobcats did a good job in this seasons draft but Larry Brown just will not trust rookies. I think that is a mistake.

Other than that I am rooting for the Bobcats and hope for many, many years of success and at least one title in the next ten seasons.

I'm originally from California so I didn't grow up a Hornets fan. After I moved to Raleigh, I took up a big interest in basketball but I didn't become an NBA fan until the year the Bobcats were formed, and being the in-state team I latched on to them.

I think that many of us were Hornets fans and I seen that some of were there in the beginning of the Hornets expansion. I, too was originally a hornets fan. I was this nerdy 16 year old (I believe) who really could not play a lick, still can't, lol (too old) but I loved the game and needed a team to root for. Why not this upstart Charlotte team. For two reasons, I love the underdog and I love building things from the foundation. Both appeal to my personality. I was hooked. I watched the Hornets win over Boston, I about cried when we traded Zo to Miami. I also became a Panthers fan. Fast forward some years to after George Shinn and Hornets left. I was excited to hear that Robert Johnson was bringing a team back to Charlotte. To watch them build a team from scratch. I followed as much as I could to the point of being almost obsessed. This is WHY I'm a Bobcats fan.

I'll be blogging about why I'm a Bobcats supporter after playoffs.

Note: Also, international Bobcats supporters (like me), chuck me a PM.

Well when I was younger I was a huge Nets fan (back in the days of Kenyon Martin, Kerry Kittles and Jason Kidd(still a huge Kidd fan)) Well after awhile I stopped watching the NBA for reasons I don't even remember. So during the Ham Biscuit days I started watching the NBA again and all of the sudden none of the people I remember were on the team anymore so I started watching a few Bobcats games and then a friend really turned me on to the team, and i've been hooked ever since.

I moved to Charlotte in 2006 going to one game a month. I would often root for my hometown Washington Wizards when they came to town. I was at the last game of the season in 06-07 when Bickerstaff was given his send off. There was a sense of pride that was in the arena that night and I felt that I should buy the upper level $200 season tix pack. Since then I have upgraded my seats to the lower bowl (paying much more, ouch) But its worth it.

I am a huge NBA fan in general, but I consider myself a Bobcats fan. I will have season tix as long as I am in Charlotte!

I've lived around here all my life and have since the age of 6 or 7 been a huge NBA fan (by far my favorite sports league). I was a huuuuuuuuuuuggggggggggeeeeeeeee Hornets fan and when the Bobcats came to town it was simply natural to root for the hometown team in my favorite sport.

I honestly can't tell anymore. Ammo was the one that piqued my interest in this team and I just kinda stuck with it... for better or for Jeff.

BCP community has a large stake in the reason as well.

I agree with the masochistic point. Something about coming to games and seeing Jeff McInnis in the starting lineup really kept me wanting more.

I think i may win this one lol as my reason sucks. I am from the Uk, was in Holiday in america and went into a store to find and NBA jersey (at this point i could name about 5 teams) and new little about basketball. The store only had two jerseys left. Lebron James or... Adam Morrisson. (This was in his second season with the torn knee ligement) So i have always been one for the underdogs and had heard LBJ was a star so went for the guy i have never heard of. From that day i have been a huge bobcats fan, still have that jersey :) and was slightly gutted when Morrisson got traded but have moved on :)

GOOD NEWS: LAKERS V WOLVES ARE PLAYING IN PRE-SEASON IN LONDON AND GUESS WHO WILL BE THERE... MOOORRRRIIISSSSSOOONNNNNN AHHHH GOT MY TICKETS

For me I like getting in on the ground floor. If I was going to allow myself to cheer for the Bobcats when they became big time, I felt like I needed to suffer along with them from the very beginning in the the expansion years when I knew that they were going to be horrible.

Little did I know that I would have to tolerate Jeff McInnis though :g:

Suffering through the bad times makes watching the playoff caliber Bobcats so much sweeter.

I grew up on the Hornets, but since I was born in '92, I don't remember 'Zo, LJ, Muggsy, Dell, or any of those guys. But I do remember Baron, Mash, and Paul Silas. I didn't really know much about the NBA after the Hornets left, but once the Bobcats came back I got back into it. I was one of the lucky ones to have C-Set, so I got to watch a bunch of the Okafor/Wallace/BK games, but then after C-Set folded I faded off, then got fully into it in the 07-08 season after getting some free tix. My first 'Cats game live was the ESPN game, and Crash, Okafor, and J-Rich kept me in it. Now it's Crash and Jack, but that's all the better.

born in ny and grew up a knicks fan. moved to nc when i was in jr. high and the hornets started their inception, but moved after several years in raleigh. big time hornets fan as a kid, but they left while i was in nyc and as soon as charlotte got a new team (as my knicks were going through the isiah debacle) i watched their expansion draft in my tiny manhattan apartment. i've been keeping up with them ever since and when i moved to charlotte in '08, they have taken over as my favorite primary team to follow. the knicks will always be a team that i've got love for, but being local now, i truly am a 'cats fan first.

I was a casual basketball fan at the time of the Bobcats becoming a franchise. I would watch some games but I wouldn't really follow a team. When I heard that their was a new team coming up I instantly thought of becoming a fan of the team. I remember the first game in their history. It was against the Washington Wizards and Primoz Brezec scored the first points in team history. Ever since then I have been a Die-Hard fan and have suffered through the pain and sorrow.

When I was at game 3, I almost cried because I realized how far our team has come. :(

Even if we never become a top-team, at least we will be competitive.

My dad used to have a partnership season tickets for 5 or so years whent he hornets first started and would take me to games when i was 5,6, or 7 (17 now). I never really followed NBA much, just went to games. However it was important to me that charlotte kept 2 pro teams, and when i saw them struggling 2 seasons ago i figured i would start supporting. Began watching them on TV last season and found them surprising fun to watch, even though they didn't alays win. Now im hooked, and even made it to a few games this season. Its hard to make weekday games when you live an hour way sometimes though.
