Should Brown leave, is there any coach that we could hire that would attract a marquee free agent?

Keep in the back of your mind that the Bobcats have some players that they could trade to free up some space for a bigger signing, from Stephen Jackson all the way down to some of the big guys on the bench. At this point, I'd rather have Al Jefferson on the roster if they have to give up Jackson to get him, even though I'd rather get another two guard for Jackson.

Either way, is there a coach that might attract a James or Wade or Bosh, if the Bobcats freed up some space to get a player? Once you get the name, the revenue and investments would increase to pay salaries and make the team profitable.

Avery Johnson is a pretty big name, but I don't think he could attract any of those 3.

Phil Jackson would be the only one that could impact a player of their stature to thinking about coming to Charlotte.

And that's not happening.

I would like Avery Johnson but yeah don't know if he'd bring anybody but considering the way our team's salary is we're going to have a hard time attracting anyone as it is.

Why do you guys think that Avery Johnson is a good coach?

I'd take Vinny Del Negro over him in a heartbeat... (Tyrus be damned)

Del Negro would be a good coaching choice. But I think Avery Johnson would be the guy we sign if LB leaves.

I dont think there is any coach except for the zen master, that can attract a big name player. Although, we do have MJ and if he cant attract someone, then no one can.

Coach K would have major pull. He'd never leave Duke, and MJ would never sign him, but he has the respect of just about everybody out there.

Semi-related. How about Calipari claiming to be interested in the Bulls job?

He denied it, but where there's smoke, there's fire. UK is great, but it's not the NBA. He's coached 3 of the best PGs for the next 10 years, and a lot of his players have done well in the pros. He's a pro coach.

quite the pedigree

Plus Marcus Camby, Chris Douglas-Roberts, Rodney Carney. Shawne Williams, and I'll bet either Patterson or Cousins (though I doubt both) will have a good career. Bledsoe too maybe.

I was just listing the PG's he's coached in the past 3, next 2 years.

Top 3 talent every. single. year. Though I wouldn't necessarily say he's a great COACH. I think his style is just something that is good offensively that makes his players look good for NBA guys.

He's the Phil Jackson of college. He brings the talent and gives them a system to look good. I think that's what I've been trying to say in the "coaches" thread over in the NBA forum. Phil and Coach Cal aren't the best at fundementals, but they give their players a way to win.

I'd love to see Calipari coach here, he's not subject to recruiting violations in the NBA

Calipari is a horrible coach but he has such strong ties to Lebron James and Chris Bosh I would hire him just for that.

Horrible? No. Horrible is Sam Biscuit. If you put the Biscuit in charge of UK, they wouldn't make the tourney.

You have to be at least decent to win like Cal...

If you put Biscuit in charge of a team in the NBDL, they wouldn't make the playoffs.
