Thursday week from now is the NBA draft.
The Bobcats are having a up grade ticket promotion from 5 to 6 that night. From 6 to 10 they having autografhs by different players one being Wallace, Muggsy and other players will all so be signing autografhs that night, With free hotdogs and sodas.
I was told by a very unreliable sorce . Its a 80% chance or better we moving into the draft. Most likely early second round.
Thoughts
What is the Chances you think we move into the draft. Considering this draft party?
Player who you think we might have our eye on . To make this team better. By moving into the draft.

I think 80% is about right from what i am hearing aswell, if we go into the draft i would be dissapointed unless we got anyone but Mikhail Torrence, this guy would be a perfect fit, back up PG/SG good size at 6 ft 5 and is athletic and a good defender, or if someone from the first round drops down the board im good with that too i guess. But i hope we do trade in. Surely they wouldnt cancel the draft party if we didnt get a pick lol?

How about Willie Warren or Samardo Samuels?
80% seems right. My question is, what do we give up to get into the draft? Maybe just money?

I heard it may cost teams 1.5 million for a 2nd rounder. Thats stupid if we give that much. Nobody taht is projected to go rd. 2 is worth that.

my guess is a pg as it sounds like felton is not being brought back. ish smith maybe? we already have enough guys that cannot shoot. it would be nice to pick a shooter.

I'll go on record now saying if we trade/buy into the draft, it won't be for a guard (unless an obvious 1st round talent falls. There will be plenty of PGs who could be a good addition who won't get drafted. Only one or maybe 2 PGs in this draft are automatic starter quailty anyway. If we find ouselves in the draft, I expect us to take a big.

i think the only first round pick we have a shot at buying would be orlando's considering they have 29 and are over the cap so the extra salary may not be something they want. nbadraft.net has trevor booker going late, i think he is going to be alot like dejuan blair but better offensively. i would approve of buying in to take him. they have willie warren and solomon alabi going second round and would take either of them for 1.5 mil plus their rookie contracts. alabi will be a good defensive center on the cheap and warren can shoot, which we need.

I'd bet almost anything it'll be 31st or above as those don't come with a guaranteed contract.
1.5 million is a heckuva lot for someone who might not even make the squad.

I agree with that, Spectre. I can't see spening money to buy a LATE pick to use on someone like Ish who may go undrafted anyway. Worst case scenario is we miss out on one or two guys like that and move forard with one FA minimum vet and an undrafted guy like Jeremy Lin (6'3" Harvard PG with nice athleticism who had great coaching but gets no hype).

I could see them going after either mikhail Torrence or Jarvis varnado

There is no way we should pay that much for a pick. I would trade AA for a pick if the opportunity was there, I just don't see him improving for way too long to wait. That would get us a contributor and would rid us of a non-contributor, though I can't imagine what time would want Ajinca.

Alexis would be a first round pick this year easy, so trading him for a second rounder is madness, plus Lexi WILL contribute this year

I agree I am a strong beleiver in a Lexi who has put on size now weghing in at 260 instead of drafted at 220. I think after summer league he will be improved enough to battle nazr for play time as second string.

Watch out for two players draft night. Whitch ever one slips into the second round that will most likely be our next Bobcat.
Terrico White and if hes gone look to see T. Booker.
But i think White is who L Brown really has a eye on . Hes a perfect L Brown type.

Terrico doesn't turn the ball over. He only turned it over 9% of his possesion. Defintally a great thing!!

I personally think we will try to get into the first.Mike is not not bob johnson,he is too much of a competitor to pass up an opportunity to get better if all he has to do is write a check.I also think you will easily be able to get a pick in the mid to late 20's for a million,or maybe a million and a future 2nd.I think all this talk about 1.5 and 2 million and so on and so on is simply posturing by owners who are seeing if someone is dumb enough to bite. With the economy the cba uncertainty and owners just generally trying to slash payroll in general,i think alot of teams will be looking to unload.Oh' and for the record, you can put me down for vasquez from maryland as who i want.I don't care what position he truly is,all i know is the guy has size, athleticism,he's willing to be coached, has a ton of heart,a great IQ,and can shoot the lights out.Guys like that find a way to make it.If you just look @ how much he improved from last year to this one,it shows you how hard he works.I'm not saying the guy will be an all-star of even a starter, but i could easily see him being one of those guys who comes in his first year on a playoff team and makes a huge contribution off the bench, and i think alot of teams will regret passsing on this guy because I easily think he's going to be a 10-12 year NBA player.Go Cats!
in year's past late 1st rounders sell for 3mil. i agree 3mil will be way too much in this economy and desperation at a much lower cap. i do think 1st rounders will cost you 2mil though, maybe at best 1.75ish. perhaps the best move depending on who falls, is to buy an early 2nd for 1mil-ish.
