The Charlotte Bobcats are conducting a multi-day mini-camp with free agents from all around the world (and the D-League) beginning this morning according to a press release forwarded to Ridiculous Upside (me) Monday.
The players will be split into two groups in the morning session for drills and workouts and will scrimmage during the afternoon sessions. The players will participate in two sessions each on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by a morning session only on Thursday. The morning sessions will not be open to the media.
More than likely, it'll be a sort of Summer League team tryout - which is still exciting as it's another opportunity to play in front of NBA decision makers.

The players will include two former NBA lottery selections, six players that played in the D-League last season, the son of Craig Hodges,a former D-League call-up under Quin Snyder, a teammate of Reggie Williams (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/players/67830/Reggie_Williams) at VMI, two players whose last mentions in NBA circles were due to drug possession and one player that already claims to have an invite to the Summer League team and more!

Since I'm a good dude, I went ahead and wrote up some brief scouting reports on everyone after the jump.
We're doomed.

Shawne Williams (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/players/21710/Shawne_Williams) - If you're like me, your first thought is trying to figure out which Shawn Williams this is. So, for reference, it's the former Memphis forward who was picked 17th overall by the Indiana Pacers in the 2006 NBA Draft. After two and a half season with the Pacers, Williams was traded to the Dallas Mavericks. This past season the Mavericks traded Williams and Kris Humphries to Nets for Eddie Najera, but Williams was released before playing with the Nets. Why was he released, you ask? A crap load of felony drug charges related to Codeine. That's actually not the case according to the Nets (http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/Shawne-Williams-indicted-on-felony-drug-charges-65821063). "We brought him in to take a look at him, and (he was) way out of shape ... (we) didn't like what we saw,'' Nets interim coach Kiki Vandeweghe said on Friday. "He said he had to go home for some type of medical emergency, for one of his grandfathers or something like that. We sort of made the decision at that time that this wasn't going to work, so we waived him, and all this other stuff came down. We hope he is OK. We wish him well, but luckily (it's) not our issue.''

Loads of talent but lots of trouble. Interesting that we're giving him a shot.

Who knows...maybe LB can work some miracles.

Hope Hendo, Lexi and UPS have their scoring shoes on. Looks like they'll be carrying the team from the quality we just tried out.

Larry has a soft spot for Shawne Williams. Remember, after the NY debacle, Larry hung out with Calipari at Memphis for 2 years while Shawne was a star there. Larry will give him a chance to get his career back on track.

LB's main beef is him being 20 lbs overweight. If he shows some work ethic I think he'll make the squad.

Bonnell has an article up on both him and Miles...plus Bobcats Break has the vids.

Muhammad has averaged 20 points per game over the past two seasons with the Supercats while shooting 47.4% from the free-throw line and 51% from beyond the arc

how the hell is that possible

Screw Gerald, Ishmail Muhammed FUTURE

Are you kidding me? Gerald came out of college with a great defensive reputation. I doubt Muhammed has the defensive rep, or the defensive skill that Gerald has.

I think we need to fill up a couple of slots with guys making the minimum. They're going to get garbage time at best, so it's not worth making a huge investment.

Reading about Miles, it sounds like he might be worth a long look. Williams, not so much.

I think Miles will end up making the squad assuming he doesn't have UPS out behind the Cable Box smoking weed.

Williams sounds exactly like the type of guy LB "thinks" is a great prospect...but will get tired of him not getting into shape/not doing everything he wants and ends up hating him.

We could probably do worse. I imagine we'll have at least 1-2 positions that we'll have to fill...and LB won't play them anyway.

Miles might actually be able to help us out....If he looks good in Summer League then we should give him a shot.
Him at min. wage cant hurt us right?

Miles surely can't play in SL. Isn't that restricted to 3 year players only?

Absolutely a vet min deal to him can't hurt. I expect him to be signed unless he's either arrested or the knee goes back out.

And by here you mean? :g:

I'm going to assume that by "here" he means "on the internet" where people type things and we lack the ability to put the type of inflections and tones on our words that signify to the listener that we were being sarcastic, and that it wasn't a dig at The Planet. (To be read with a heavy dose of sarcasm.)

47.4% from the free throw line. Maybe Diop can give this kid some pointers form the charity stripe.
