I know I've said his name a hundred times already, but I'm shocked he wasn't drafted. He could be that 6 foot 6 Guard that LB loves to have.

Charles Garcia, PF from Seattle is a headcase but can really rebound and score. We need to give him a look.

jon scheyer from duke could be a good option providing a spark off the bench. wouldnt mind adding him to the sl squad to see if he can be had for cheap

It looks like we signed Collins for summer league. Honestly, many of the players we looked at, especially a few LB liked, went undrafted. LB isnt a good coach for rookies, but if we grab say 2 guys (The FO likes to have 14 on the books in case there is a trade that requires us taking 2 players for 1) toss them in D-League for a few months, or (as larry likes) have them practice with our guys and see where he can squeeze 5 minutes here and there (like when we're down 90 to 60 in the 4th qt, hopefully less of that this season tho).

Either way, we keep what we have, add some young undrafted diamond in the rough, and a good vet and there we go :)

Apparently, Torrance is weighing 5 or 6 different offers, including one from the Heat... I have a feeling he won't be coming here...

I'm watching a lot of euro ball and I've seen him play a few times and I can tell you, he's not really good. Way too slow to be a NBA point guard and not a shooting guard.

according to some writer's twitter, he will play for us

I have a feeling Scheyer will go to the lakers and end up a legit player. He is basically the same thing as Fisher. can guard any perimeter players, can pass to kobe in the triangle and knock down open 3s probably even better than fisher. way better fit for then than farmar or shannon imo

John Scheyer can't guard a chair.

He didn't get drafted in one of the weakest PG drafts of all time for a reason. Won a title, was the best PG in his conference, and didn't crack top 60 in most draft boards - thats saying quite a bit.

i have to disagree. Scheyer will be on a team by this fall. The reason he fell down the draft boards was he missed the biggest draft workouts during a 3 week stretch due to him having mono. He has to good a shot and I dont know what games you watched but he can play better defense than most. I am not saying he is a bruce bowen or battier but he is no slouch. He will more than likely be on one of the top teams benches, he will be cheap and can run the floor. Doubt he would be on any bottom teams bench cause every spot needs to count and they want vets. But if you have the luxury to bring on a non guaranteed player and let him prove himself, scheyer is that guy.

Dunno where to post this, so this seems as good as place as any.

We have another player for summer league, http://www.themercury.com/K-StateSports/article.aspx?articleId=067f72d36879473eb5e6305ef73 4bd2e

Denis Clemente, yet another PG, so I think Larry must think that Ray is out.

he can't guard a slasher but he can easily guard a shooter. people said the same shit about Redick and he basically shuts down Ray Allen every time they play. Scheyer can do the same stuff. He could easily replace Fisher in that offense. And I hate Duke

It's not hard to defend a shooter. You just have to work hard at pushing through screens/avoiding them and sticking with your man. Anyone can do it if they have the right amount of tenacity and perseverance. But besides chasing Ray Allen around, Reddick's defense is minimal.

Scheyer isn't half the athlete JJ is, and thats saying something.

JJ is a great student of the game though. With all the film he looks at, knowing where to be in order to guard Allen is easy for him - not only that, but as a guy who's modeled his NBA game after Allen, its one of his best matchups in the entire league.

For the record, JJ got a raw deal his few years in the league. Because Orlando's FO and coaching staff weren't on the same page, JJ was forced to sit behind two other shooting guards. Orlando still valued him highly the entire though, refused to trade him.

JP Prince from Tennessee is a guy we should really look at picking up. He can play multiple positions and even played some point in college.

His main skill is he is a lock down defender quick enough to guard positions 1-3. Prince is also a stat sheet stuffer who showed big time improvement in his shooting his senior year.

I like Clemente. I watched K-State in the tourney, and he was pretty solid.

I agree, it always pissed me off to see JJs wasted talent sitting on the bench. He got so little playing time he was wanting a trade. I am glad to see him actually getting some burn and he has proven he can make it in the NBA, he will get better before he gets worse.

Now if LB would give some our rookies some playing time so we can get them rolling.

Glad to hear JJ getting some respect on this forum. I have been touting JJ's ability to play solid NBA basketball for a long time but I would always hear all kinds of negative stuff that really had no substance. I knew a lot of it was a hate for JJ and Duke. I am a Tar Heel fan but I got over my JJ hate once he entered the NBA. For a long time I was hoping that JJ would be traded from Orlando based on what a shitty deal he was getting from the Magic brass. I am glad now that they have come around to playing him solid minutes and he is proving himself.

JJ is not the best defender but he has obviously worked his ass off and is a much better defender than when he entered the league. JJ will always have some limitations due to being somewhat athletically challenged but he still is not a slouch.

I think it is a shame we missed out on bringing Mikhail Torrance in for Summer League...I'd really have liked to have him on the team...oh well...

I just found this at Hoopsworld...

"Charlotte without any pick in the draft will be featuring a couple of undrafted free agents from this year's draft, Sherron Collins and Mikhail Torrence. Collins, a 5' 11" point guard, was a senior from Kansas who had 18.9 points and 5.0 assists in his junior year, but a dip in production last season left him undrafted. Torrence, a senior from Alabama, is a 6' 5" combo guard who was on some mock draft boards late in the second round."

Does anyone actually know if we signed Torrence or not?

Mikhail was recently signed to a contract by Miami and will be reporting this weekend.

Sherron and Denis are now our main targets.
