Am I the only one that wants to see this team get a chance to play a season without some adjustment period? Resign Ray and TT and that's it. If nothing else TT, Chandler and Nazr will all be off contract with Team Options for Augustin Hendo and Lexy. If it doesn't work, ok, we will be players next off season.

I largely agree. Let's see what DJ can do when we hand him the reigns and pick up a few cheap vets and undrafted guys after Ray walks. Resign Tyrus for as cheap as possible, and see how we start the first month of the season. Realistically, we can still scratch into the playoffs even with improved Chi, NY, NJ, & Mia squads. Time will tell what CLE does and if they are still better than us next year. We need to not do anything rash. Just because the rest of the league is making moves doesn't mean they are great moves (see the Bucks w/ Drew Gooden)

i also agree, we have a few spots and since LB likes three pgs I say sign S.Collins. If Ray walks, we could bring F. Murray back. Bring back S. Graham and maybe T. Ratliff or L.Hughes also. But if money is a issue, yes two of the guys off the summer team.

If we lose Ray and do nothing else.....we are not going to make the Playoffs. Mark my words. The east is getting stronger and there's no way you can keep your same team and still expect to be good. Thats the last thing I want us to do....

I remember hearing this last year, too.

Knicks, Heat, Nets and Bulls will be bare bones, no role players.
Pistons, Raptors, Pacers, Sixers and Wizards will be bottom feeders.
Hawks, Cavs (unless they keep LeBron), and Celtics won't be as good.
Bucks and Magic are unknowns.

We only have to beat 7 teams to make the playoffs. I think we can beat Detroit, Toronto, Indy, Philly, Washington, LeBron-less Cavs, and one of the cap-space teams. Probably the Nets.

And that's with the roster as-is.

There is no PG upgrade available without demolishing the whole team. TJ Ford is hardly an upgrade. Stick with DJ/Big Shot Larry/insert unsigned PG here until a better option comes along.

I just can't agree with that. Hawks and Bucks re-signed their key free agent so they will be bringing their core back who got them where they were last year. Too early to tell on Boston. We will know know more on them after the summer.

And the Magic...well I don't see any kink in their armor except another year of age.

Even if Boston brings back Ray and Sheed, they won't be as good. It took half a miracle for KG to dunk, and PP34 is aging quickly.

Milwaukee just spent 32 mil on the team killer, Drew Gooden. And got a major ball hog in Maggette. IDK if even Scott Skiles can make that a playoff team.

Atlanta just promoted Larry Drew to be head coach. That organization is a joke, and JJ is massivly overpaid. I don't see them winning 50 games this year.

The Magic will still be a contender, but they started to fall apart in the playoffs, and there are questions about how the team feels about Ron Jeremy.

To clarify, I don't think we'll be better than the Magic or Boston. The other two I could see.

If ya let Ray go I'd say bring back Flip and throw him and DJ around at the 1.

But we cannot just assume that we are going to be better than New Jersey, and we cant assume that we are going to be better than a LeBron-less Cavs....or anyone else.
We have to do everything we can to make sure we put the best possible team we can on the court for 10-11. If we lose Felton, and just think DJ and Sherron Collins or DJ and some min wage vet backup is gonna be fine, we are going to be shocked. Everyone said all season how DJ didnt look good and whatever, but now we think he will be fine as starter? We might not be able to make an upgrade, but we need to get equal talent to amount for losses, if we plan on being in the Playoffs.

Also: Im not a big Felton fan at all. I think he needs to be let go....I just dont want us to let him go, and then do nothing to improve our team.

No move? Heh...that'd be some kind of record, a Larry Brown run team that made no moves!

I figure at least 2 moves and probably more!

People forget that little factoid. When was the last time a LB coached team has gone without making a move? I certainly can't remember. He's been oone of the most active coaches in the league in his time in Charlotte.

08/09:

Signed Juwan Howard as a Free Agent
Kyle Weaver for 2009 Second Rounder (Derrick Brown)
J-Rich, Jared Dudley, 2010 Second Rounder for Diaw, Raja, and Lil Sean
Matt Carroll and Ryan Hollins for DeSagana Diop
Adam Morrison and Shannon Brown for Vlad Rad

09/10:

Signed Larry Hughes as a Free Agent
Signed Flip Murray as a Free Agent
Robert Vaden for Cash
Raja Bell and Vlad Rad for Stephen Jackson and Acie Law
Flip Murray, Acie Law, Future First Rounder for Tyrus Thomas
Theo Ratliff for A bag of kettle cooked potato chips

And that's just what I remember off the top of my head! If those lists are any indication, we'll be making some moves before all is said and done.

I don't think anyone is really confident that DJ is starter caliber or anything like that, there just aren't many options on there. I don't see what great PG we are missing out on, as we are not going to land anyone of significance.

I agree less is more to an extent. Give the players time to mesh a little bit. I think most teams make to many moves as a rule. It would be nice to bring Felton back but if we can't DJ is just going to have to step up.

Sowhat if we got players in the middle of the season? We still know how good they are...they have been in the league and started alot before. I cant believe you gusy think we should stand pat....no way I think we should. Any playoff team that loses their starting PG(even if its Raymond....) should not stand pat....they should panic and be sure that they have enough talent. Forget the money, we will earn it back with another playoff appearence. Also, we shoudln't be aiming to stay in the playoffs, we should be trying to look at what we didnt have to beat the Magic and try to acquire what we needed.

If the Lakers aren't standing pat then we certainly shouldn't be content to maintain the status quo. We should always be looking for the next move that will make us better.

we shouldn't feel compelled to tie up our cap and future cap on two guys who will end up being drastically overpaid to be a 7 or 8 seed. as long as we are competitive, we don't slide back that much and keep local/state momentum going. but, if we commit ourselves to a roster for the next 3 years we have what we have. i say we try a sign and trade for either/both TT and ray if we can't get them for the price we want. keep our options open for the future. my prediction is that we are going to be looking to deal jax in the next year or two and are going to need flexibility to make it happen. i say put the best 5 on the floor for the money. we can compete with dj at the point and no TT.

We could possibly still squeeze into the playoffs with just losing Felton. I'm not sure we can if we lose Felton and TT, and don't add anyone else though.

Looking at last season's standings and anticipating the impact of free agency, 2 of the teams ahead of us will likely fall back (Cle & Mia) and 2 could pass us by (Chi & NY). We won't have a really good idea until all of this shakes out, but it's a good chance our relative position might not change much UNLESS we lose both guys. I don't think we can lose 2 contributors, not add anyone, and still be in the top 8 though. I could see Indy, Was and maybe Philly jumping over us if that happens, and they might anyway depending on how good their rooks are.

Considering the only REAL moves we can make, its better that we don't do anything other than re-sign TT and Felton. I don't want T.J. Ford, I don't want Hedo "I'm the King of Turkey" Turkoglu. These are the names being thrown around for us in trade rumors and they are all trash. TRASH. They don't make us better. There's a reason their respective teams want to get rid of them.

Unless LB makes a out of no-where miracle move, we stick with what we have. As stated earlier, we have to beat out 7 teams. Only 7. And those who think all these big Free Agent players are going to all come out better are wrong. A Lebron-less Cavs team wins 30 games if that. The Knicks are better but still beatable right now. The Nets are currently trash. If Wade leaves Miami, they are trash. If no one signs with Chicago, they aren't as good as us. The Pacers, Sixers, Wizards, Pistons...suck. If Toronto loses Bosh, they suck. That's 10 teams I listed that I believe we are better than. Obviously FA is going to make 1 or 2 of these teams better, but there are going to be some big losers when its all said and done.

I want to get better just like the rest of us, but I truly believe this team is still a playoff team if we come in with the same roster.
