so there is no actual trade yet, but lets face it. It is going to happen after that Mcguire signing he is just a piece:

Almost certainly big trade soon, likely involving PG. Setting pieces RT
So this thread is for all the fall out of when the trade happens :) Im glad we are not just sitting here doing nothing while everyone else gets better!!!
(get anyone excited with the title? lol)

Nazr and this guy we just signed for TJ Ford is my best guess. I really hope it is Nash we are getting though.

I think this is possible, actually very likely. With the 25% difference rule for salary with a trade, take a look at this:
Devin Harris: $8.981 Million next year
Nazr: $6.883 Million next year
Nazr's salary with the 125% trade rule is this: his salary + 25% = only $8.6 million.
Add in Mcguire's salary and the trade would work!
dear lord,
it is not often that i ever ask about sports things, but if you can find time after working on world peace and hunger, curing diseases and about zillion more important things, could you throw us a bone named cp3?

Other than CP3 Devon would be my top choice assuming the other big ones aren't available. Don't think we could take that kind of salary back though.
Do they need a C? TC for Devon/small filler maybe?

We actually could take the salary with the trade (reason behind the 125% rule is to ensure teams over cap don't take on too much extra salary with trades). They also don't need a center (Brooke Lopez). They could probably use Diaw though as a SF/PF, even though they drafted Derrick Favors to be the PF.

We absolutely could, but it'd still count against the luxury tax. If that 17.5% bonus is true we're right there at it.

I heard on the Pack Man Show on WFNZ this afternoon about some trade with the Nets....they didnt say details or anything but they were just like: The Bobcats resigned Thomas, and now they gotta continue to build....blah blah blah....and now we hear of this trade with the Nets....."
But thats all I heard
If its Devin Harris I'm going to jump for joy. If its T.J. Ford I'm going to do a major facepalm.
Also, if we get Ford I'm calling it right now, we play with Ford for a year, then go after Chris Paul.

Don't see how NJ could afford to trade Devin without getting a decent PG in return. I would certainly think any trade involving him coming to us would have to at least include DJ (and it's debatable even among us whether he's a capable starter or not). The most realistic deal I can think of would be Boris + DJ for Harris. I'd do that in a heartbeat, but I really don't see why they would.

Ah, now this is what I'm talking about! Now that LeBron is in the same division, you know Chris wants to come back home immediately to play his bud 4 times a year!
Never been high on Devin Harris....at all BUT he's a definite upgrade over Raymond and (gulp) TJ Ford and will make the team better for sure.
But yeah, if it's TJ, the old dog is going back into hibernation.

The Timberwolves have been urging Dallas to part with Erick Dampier's contract in exchange for Al Jefferson, according to ESPN.comSo the Wolves are pushing to dump him for an expiring contract. Dampier and Chandler are both approximately 13 million dollar expiring deals. Al is there for the taking, we just need to pull the trigger.

I think they could cut Damp right now and he'd get nothing. Better than an expiring, and Dallas doesn't want to give him up because of that.

Dallas has hinted they are saving Damp for a really great opportunity and will be happy to wait until the Feb. trade deadline to see what comes up.

I would be surprised to see either side being interested in a Harris trade.
As long as the FO believes Chris Paul may be able to be had, I suspect he'll remain the top priority at PG. With the sale of the Hornets stalled, George Shinn is reportedly going to meet with David Stern as soon as the Vegas Summer League. He's concerned about the money he's losing and feels the new owner is trying to lowball him at the 11th hour. Depending on the answer, Paul could soon become available.

I am not convinced Dom is part of a bigger deal. Instead, after NJ strikes out on Scola, we will do something like Diaw for Kris Humphries and a 2nd. That is a cap saving move for us for the next couple of years while providing a backup for TT. I don't necessarily advocate this deal, but I could see it happening.

I would like that alot. And their is no way MJ is going to trade for Al Jefferson. that would be stupid. Another overpaid player on the bobcats roster great :/

Yeah I don't know what the FO is thinking either...but I am waiting anxiously to see something happen. And it better not be signing a PG named Mookie Jenkins, who Larry Brown saw dunking on a milk crate hoop in the 'hood

Well here are some things we can 95% certain we'll be doing:
1. Getting a Point Guard of a starting caliber
2. Trading Tyson Chandler and his contract for something of value (PG or something else)
3. Sherron Collins will be invited to training camp and will be our #3 PG.
4. Gana Diop and his terrible contract will be here for THE NEXT 3 f***ING YEARS!! BAH!
5. Larry Brown will be complaining about his roster and making trades more than anyone else. Then he will be speculating about a Philadelphia front office job. Yet he'll stay here. ILBIT!

The longer all this plays out, the more and more its looking like we're gonna trade for Arenas. I'm not all that against it anymore if we manage to get McGee or Blatche out of them too. Hoping we don't fall into the trap of just throwing away expirings for guys who were once all-stars and nothing else.
polarcat
07-11-2010, 10:34 AM
if we can get one of their big men too, i'm all for it. arenas doesn't make me want to do cartwheels in the street or anything because of his stupidity and knuckleheadedness (is that a word?), but i would love a former all star name here instead of the tj fords or stevie grahams of the free agency world. cp3 is who i hope we get, but i don't know that we have the players to give that wouldn't hurt us long-term. as for arenas, he fits everything we need. a pg that is a scorer, an all-star, brings people to the arena and a guy with heart in the iverson/artest mold. again, he brings baggage and he wouldn't be my "plan a", but "plan b" wouldn't be so bad. after seeing what captain jack has done here under lb and in charlotte, i think the same might be able to happen with arenas. getting either blatche or preferably mcgee would be huge too. i just wonder how much it would cost salary-wise and what we would have to send back to make it happen. at the end of the day, ohara is right, my head too is so full of potential trades and wondering what direction we are going to go, that i am at a loss.^-^

Dallas wants Al Jefferson, so they have to take Diop back to do it. They receive a pick from whichever team they deem necessary to compensate for losing Roddy. They also get Gomes' contract which (If I remember correctly) can be voided for instant cap relief. They also get out of the final four years of Carroll's contract.
Minny wants Love as the starter and out of Jeff's contract. They get Tyson and other short contracts in return. They get a tough guy in Najera and a fantastic athlete in Brown. They also possibly get a pick to continue their rebuilding process.
Clippers want Crash after failing to get LeBum, They have to give up Kaman to do it but get Dampier to fill in while DeAndre develops. They swap Gordon for Henderson while getting out of the remaining years of Gomes' deal. They also bring in Ellington who provides some nice scoring.
We want to get rid of Diop's contract. We have to lose Crash to do it, but we get our 20/10 big man and our PG/SG of the future. We also bring Carroll back which helps our outside shooting woes. AND we get a ton of open cap space to sign a guy like Ridnour or whoever else available.

i think jordan wouldn't even think about this. for 2 reasons.
1. it may be miniscule or it may be real but there is a possibility cp3 wants to come here
2. jordan wouldn't waste a penny of his money on a max level player that he would have taken special enjoyment in destroying him to the point of breaking his spirit. agent zero my ass.

That is why I say we go after Mo Williams. His contract will be up in 2012 when CP3 becomes a free agent and that will give us at least 10 mill in cap space that year.
