Tam, read the end of the TT re-signs thread and we talk about how his cap hit is not that bad this season. We think we still have a few million to spare right now.

Yes, I have read that we do not match an offer by Nets, simply re-sign him to a regular contract before anyone else does. Assume that it starts with 6.5 million, and add Dominic McGuire's contract (assume it's minimum, 885k for a 3 year veteran), we already exceed 68 million. There is still a few bucks to offer, however no way can we lure an impact player with that money. All we can do now is unloading Tyson or Nazr for players, especially a starting PG.
Wow, didn't realize we had Diop for 3 more years.

Updated considering Dampier trade. Shaun Livingston and Dominic McGuire figures are not included.
As we can see, our current payroll is 74 million. Add Livingston as 3.5 million and McGuire as 1 million, we go to $ 78.5 million. What does that mean? It means the following: Forget all your big dreams about what Dampier's contract can be turned into. No CP3, no Arenas, no other big contracts. I think Dampier will very probably be waived, or maybe we can trade him to an undercap team for one or two players worth 3-4 million total.

Anyone know the protection breakdown for the 1st owed to Chicago?
Couldn't find great details but here is the best I have for you:
The pick owed Bulls is protected
Charlotte Bobcats general manager Rod Higgins just spoke with us about the Tyrus Thomas trade. I asked about the first-round pick they now owe the Chicago Bulls, in addition to the pick they owe the Minnesota Timberwolves (via Denver in the Alexis Ajinca deal).
The earliest the pick could go to Chicago is 2012, since the NBA doesn't allow teams to trade their first-round picks in consecutive years. In addition, there's a sliding scale of lottery protection written into the trade language that starts with the first draft when the Bobcats are eligible to send the pick out.
Higgins didn't go into detail about that protection, but it's good to know that if the Bobcats are still on the bubble between the playoffs and the lottery then, they wouldn't necessarily lose a good pick.

Anyone know the protection breakdown for the 1st owed to Chicago?
It's lottery protected the first year, not afterwards.

And glance down at 2016..San Antonio gets our 2nd round pick....whoever that kid ends up being, they are probably still in middle school now.

2012 first round draft pick to Chicago
Charlotte’s own 1st round draft pick to Chicago (top-14 protected in the 2012 Draft, top-12 protected in 2013, top-10 protected in 2014, top-8 protected in 2015 and unprotected in the 2016 Draft.) [Charlotte-Chicago, 2/18/2010]

Thanks sir. I will add those protection conditions to my main article.
The SAS pick is top 50 protected, and if they don't get it in '16 they don't get it period.

even better (though if our 2nd round pick isn't in the top 55, we will all be happy because we will have Melo and CP3):
2016 second round draft pick to San Antonio
Charlotte's own 2016 2nd round pick to San Antonio (top 55 protected in the 2016 Draft). If Charlotte's own 2016 2nd round pick is in the top 55 picks, then Charlotte's obligations to San Antonio shall be extinguished. [Charlotte – San Antonio, 2/18/2010]

I love Pop! He basically gifted Theo to us and I don't know if we could even have made the playoffs without his insertion later into last season after Nazr's back went out.
It's good to have pals.

I think we need to face the reality that this offseason was a disaster: Felton and Chandler are having huge years and we replaced them with Sean Livingston, Matt Carroll, Ed Najera, and Kwame Brown.
Sounds like joke from a Bill Simmons podcast.

We really need to make a few good pick ups to help our bench out. Any opinions on who you would like to see fit the mold?
