What motivation would the Pacers have for doing this?
Bird still loves Hansbrough and his potential, as far as I know.
And he hates "soft" guys, which might describe Boris Diaw to a degree.

He's STILL unable to play? Is there something more here?

He had Post Concussion Syndrome or something and it was messing him up. I really don't know what the deal is to be honest, I just hope he comes back. He was playing pretty well when he was healthy.

Man i've not been keeping with the summer leagues I was think tyler had all those problems behind him. I still take take him over diaw through I still think he be back for the season and plus we get rid of diaw's contract.

Hansy is like the opposite of Boris. Boris gets the ball and immediately thinks pass and I don't think Hansy has ever though to pass in his life. But yeah, apparently he is STILL dealing with vertigo from an ear infection AND post concussion symptoms. its kind of strange that its gone on this long

There was an interview with the pacers coach during summer league. He said Tyler still had a touch of vertigo but would be back for training camp. He also said he has been working out hard core and is a monster. I would love to get Tyler.

Like a couple of you noted, Hansbrough is still dealing with the effects of vertigo and it's not a guarantee he'll play in the NBA again. Perhaps that's a bit morbid, however at this point the whole situation is just bizarre.
And hell no to TJ Ford. Again.
What is his appeal? The guy does nothing but look for his own shot and he's not a good enough scorer to warrant that mentality.

I don't like TJ, but he's a PG. We have Tyrus, McGuire and Lexy at the 4, so losing Diaw wouldn't hurt too much. We have DJ and likely Sherron Collins at the point. That's it.
What about Diaw and Lexy for TJ Ford, Solomon Jones and a second?

He is a position of need...he is an expiring...allows us to move diaw's 2 year contract...is TJ great? no...but him and dj 2gether sounds better then just dj

I wouldn't hate it, but is this any better than just signing AI? Our options are pretty limited so I think one these two is going to have to happen. Neither is ideal, but the one thing we can all agree on is that going into the year with just DJ isn't an option.

Seriously, let's stop with the AI crap guys.

Why is it crap? We need a pg. Who else is out there? We complain about DJ. We complain about Ford. We complain about AI. We're not going to be able to trade for CP so like it or not, AI is as reasonable an option as anything else we have.

AI has been run out of the last three teams he's played for, and all three of them needed a PG.

I don't think it's accurate to say he was run out of Philly last year, unless you have factual information (not rumors) to substantiate that he left for reasons other than his daughter being sick. He played pretty well for them averaging 14 and 4.
Right now DJ is our only pg with NBA experience. That's a pretty desperate situation to be in. Unless a better option emerges prior to training camp, it would be foolish not to at least consider AI.

Hansbrough is 6'9.5'' I don't see how he's undersized as he's bigger than Diaw. He wasn't too small when he was ripping the wolfpack to pieces ;)

Height-wise he is solid, but the question has always been his lack of length. His 8'10" standing reach with a 6'11.5" wingspan is on the short end for PF's, but perhaps he makes up for it with his tremendous strength.
Kevin Love has nearly identical length, more weight(strength?), and better shooting range. But he doesn't strike me as having Hansbrough's level of quickness. From what little I've seen, Tyler can D up perimeter bigs pretty decently.
