I don't listen to Packman frequently, but I catch it occasionally when picking up my kids in the afternoon... Anyway, I was listening yesterday and there was more Bobcats talk than I have ever heard, especially for an off-season. Callers were calling in about the Bobcats specifically, back-to-back.

One of the hosts, I believe was Richard Walker, and although I'm not sure, I think he writes on the Bobcats for the Gaston Gazette or something but I don't feel like looking - anyway, he seems pretty informed about them for the most part.

IIRC, the caller was talking about after the Dallas trade and recent events, including not having any draft picks, the Toronto deal falling through, that it appears our franchise has no specific direction, so it's hard for people to get behind. He also mentioned something about the roster turnover if I'm not mistaken, saying we just made the playoffs and we're trading the roster away again... Walker responded by talking about how he heard or there is a feeling that MJ has had to step in a lot on deals and is kind of taking over the influence of roster decisions b/c he let LB do a great deal of that early on and MJ doesn't feel the way the roster is built now is competitive for the future/long-term. So MJ is putting his own touches on it.

Also, which I found extremely interesting and if you like making assumptions and drawing conclusions from your observations like myself, Walker said the vibe or word around the organization also suggests that although MJ told LB he could go elsewhere if it was a family issue that he actually didn't do that. He said something like MJ was irritated that he had a coach with 2 years left on his contract that was meddling around again looking for another job. So they think he told LB 'Yeah, you can take that job, but we're going to need some compensation back from them.' So this in turn, pissed LB off, b/c according to Walker, he thought 'his Carolina Ties' would work in his favor if he wanted to leave and MJ wouldn't hold him back...

The conclusion I drew is that this is either completely true or mostly true... If you saw those videos when LB first came back to the pre-draft workouts, his reaction to the 'are you staying questions' was very stone-faced, irritated, and impatient. He seemed genuinely pissed to have to answer the questions and unhappy to be there, he also seemed pretty evasive about answering them in general. And with what we've been hearing recently, it also sounds like MJ is putting his fingerprints on the franchise and he's more than happy to exercise his power when he feels it's necessary. From pulling out of the Toronto trade to Walker saying that MJ is having more influence on roster moves and preventing LB from walking out the door...

If this is true, I for one am proud of MJ. Just thought I'd share and see what you guys thought.

It's great, as long as MJ makes smart decisions. Interesting.

I had some questions as to whether this would affect the team or chemistry within the organization negatively, but honestly, I think LB has to respect MJ for pulling him out of the coaching gutter after NY. And I believe even if he wasn't happy about it, he DOES respect MJ and he won't don anything to hurt the team.

I still believe that LB didn't want the Tor trade because he is in love with Diaw.

That is a possibility.....

Yup...Gaston Gazette.

Here's an article he wrote just the other day touching on a little of this:

Bobcats' offseason unusual to say the least (http://www.gastongazette.com/sports/span-48964-bobcats-small.html)

I think Larry Brown is the one who Jordan listened to in killing the Toronto deal (or as I like to think of it...talked him off the ledge). Caleron is in no way a LB type of PG and I'd think LB would prefer both Boris & TC over him.

Jordan has shown a like for some unathletic type of players (giving Carroll the big contract, talked into drafting Morrison, intrigued by Darko) while Brown has always liked the versatile athletic guys.

Walker has as much access as Bonnell IMO, but I think LB's hesitancy about coming back was more on what the financial restrictions would do to this year's squad.

Good stuff Proudiddy!

I've had to 2nd think Larry Browns greatness a little. He didn't use his rookies, ran the starters to death all year, didn't pull Boris or any other starter if they were having a bad game. Larry Brown would probably be a better GM then coach.

To Jordan Larry Brown is Kunta Kenta aka Toby. He's always trying to run away. Jordan had to cut his foot off by reminding Kunta he still had two years left on his contract. Either LB respects his contract or he starts paying back some of that money

For the record, all hours of Primetime and the Mac Attack are podcasted online at wfnz.com. Here's the hour being referred (http://wfnz.cbslocal.com/2010/07/14/primetime-hour-3-wednesday-10/#more-8597) to, I believe.
The Mac Attack ones are done by two very handsome men.

For starters..I'm not a tarheel fan, but I respect Dean Smith and his accomplisments...I do think that Dean's condition will be a rallying cry for the Bobcats FO. MJ and LB will figure out their differences and move forward.

Heck, 4 weeks ago we watched the entire draft and had no action..and now we have Damp's contract, virtually our same roster (Tyson contributed about the same as Flip last season...but Flip lived in a different city the last 2 months). and Raymond was a foregone conclusion of being gone on draft day.

I think LB will see the light, and Larry should be more happy with the roster in this training camp than in any other so far. With the exception of Nazr and GW, he picked everyone else on the team.
