it looks like NO is going to try and make cp3 happy. will it work? we have to wait and see. one thing we know for sure is that collison and paul can't both be long-term options. so, with teams around the league trying to get paul with trade offers, what if we basically went with the approach that to truly make paul happy, he has to be the clear cut man. if he comes back and his knee is acting up, people will start murmuring collison's name. so, do you think we slide in early, instead of waiting for his value to go up or other teams to really start targeting him and offer something like:
dampier + nazr for collison and anybody except mek's terrible contract

then look to move diaw + others for a center?

i think he is the best semi-available point guard around. why buy a vet point guard on the downswing when we can offer a good deal of $$$$ and get a very promising rising point guard.

It's CP3 or bust. I like Collison but I'm cool with Livingston and DJ as our current point guards.

i really do think DJ is going to surprise a lot of people. he is a hard worker, and doesnt seem like he has any ego whatsoever. i think he will get some serious consideration for the MIP award

I think that is part of the problem. I wish he had a little ego and that might help with the confidence issues.

agreed. Im fine with DJ and Livingston actually. two guys i feel confident can distribute when they need to, successfully bring the ball up, and score/drive when they need to. Defense is suspect and it would be great to have CP3 for that next level, but I'm ok going into the season with DJ/Shawn

Not ok going into the season with Nazr as starting Center.

Not ok going into the season with Nazr as starting Center.

I'd be ok with it if someone besides Gana was the backup.

If we throw out a depth chart with Nazr/Theo/(FA)/Gana

FA:

Aaron Gray (RFA)
Francisco Elson
Etan Thomas
Fabricio Oberto
Earl Barron

New Orleans just hired a new GM (Demps). Does anyone know anything about him? I wonder what his strategy and marching orders are. I am sure phones are ringing, I just don't know how those conversations will turn out.

I would be content with Gray or the Barron

Barron would be my choice.

He's from San Antonio, so he probably did whatever Popovic asked. Which means he's from the same family tree as LB.

If no CP3 this year DJ and Shawn "Bionic Knee" Livingston are both able to run the team and make plays.

We as fans should never give up that CP3 or another star will one day come here, it is our job to dream and wish for things that we cannot have.

But our front office better get their heads out of their (and Chris's) asses and solve our Center and Point Guard issues asap. DJ/Livingston = 2nd stringers, Nazr/Diop/Dampier(resigned on a vet. minimum)=

I think we're in trouble if we have to depend on DJ or Livingstone as the starter...I hope we make use of Ericas' contract and get a starting PG...just my opinion...

I would hope that if we take a more "aggressive" approach shopping Dampiers' contract NO might become nervous and have serious conversations with us regarding CP3...problem (from my view) is the Hornets seem clueless as to the direction they want to take regarding CP3...shopping Dampier could lead to another (not as good) alternative that will work for the 'Cats...and possibly leverage the Hornets to make some kind of decision...but who knows...

Ah, you beat me to it. I had a similar thought and posted it in the other thread.

I could see George Shinn basically forcing the front office's hand if Jordan were to leak an alternate deal out...
