View Full Version : Which entrance to the arena do you prefer and why?

Whenever I have a new fan come with me to the arena, I make sure we walk in through the entrance with the big "historical" basketball murals, even if it is out of the way. I like to give them a sense of our basketball heritage in NC, and show them all that the arena has to offer...

How about you guys? Which entrance do you use, and why?

Are you superstitious about how you enter the arena?

Sorry if it's a boring topic, but this is our "Summer of Dampier". I'm hoping to have some fun answers.....

Generally the one across from the glass doors, by the ticket window.

How is the drive from Hickory? I'm intrigued by Hickory because it is between big-city Charlotte and the mountains. Plus it has a Best Buy and a Target, which is my criteria for a place being part of modern Human Civilization......

It may have the big box stores, but Hickory is far from modern. It's ridiculous how backwards people can be.

The location is great though. 321 to I-85 to 16 to the Arena is almost exactly an hour. 321 to Boone/skiing is about the same time, maybe a little less.

I'd still rather live in Charlotte or the area.

I've probably said this before, but I've heard it described this way (by a resident):

"So, you know how an armory is a place that houses arms? Well, Hickory..."
(yes, it was described using SAT-style analogy. Armory:Arms::Hickory:?)

I hear ya. I'm much older than you, and I keep telling myself that I ought to settle down in some quieter place, but I like a little diversity and open-mindedness too.

Charlotte has been an exciting place for young, single people for the last 10 years or so. Let's just hope the economy rebounds and B of A sticks around....

I can't take these Charlotte summers, but while Hickory is closer to the mountains, I hear it's much more similar to Charlotte's climate than to Boone's climate.

I play a little Disc Golf, and I hear Glen C. Hilton Park has a great course.

Many Bobcats fans in Hickory?

Disappointing. I was hoping it was this cultural oasis in the hills. I've met some people from there who I liked, but I guess there's a reason they are in Charlotte now......

Oh, so true.

It's just as hot if not hotter than the QC. It gets over 100 routinely.

Yeah Hilton Park is beautiful, it's right on the lake and there's good disc golf.

Not that many 'Cats fans here, I know a few season ticket holders and casual fans but not that much.

Trade Street side entrance, go through the Team Shop because their is never a wait and they have the give-aways longer than any other entrance in the building.

I concur. Plus it's nice to check out the merchandise, if not buy it.

5th St. entrance, specifically Lowes Home Court ST entrance because I feel I'm paying for the right to use that entrance, even though it's not always the quickest.

Plus the new parking deck across the street is always about $5 cheaper than the others, and I met Muggsey Bogues in the elevator there. STH entrance, or Team Store. Just had a brilliant, far fetched idea, make an escalator above the player parking straight to upper level, for upper level people only entrance. $1mil for the roof, surely it'll be less than that.

Park at Epicenter, if you get in early enough to get a regular "ticket" to park, you can leave with the post-game crowd no questions asked.

If you get lucky you can park in the "cat cave" under the arena and enter via the very same entrance the players use. Otherwise team store for the reasons above, and if you get lucky and do it "just right" there is a secret way to get in before the players are practicing :)

Care to elaborate on the last one? You could PM me if you want to keep it under wraps ;)

This past season I used the Beck entrance for most of the games, for the others I went in through the team store.
