Dead board , Would you guys consider taking on the Arenas contract.

If yes for what ?.

If not who do you think we could get at point.?

Would you think we would be better off going into season as is ?

Right now im thinking we can't get cp3. I all so think this team as is can't compeat for a playoff spot.

I all so think Arenas might be our best bet value wize. Im thinking Washington gives up value to rid that contract.

I really think we could pick up Blatche and McGee to take on Arenas.

Somthing like this . Boris , Nazz , Diop. or Diop and Damps contract either of whitch works.

I think McGee will end up solid and Blatche under Brown could be great

I think if we can't get CP3 we see what Augustin and Livingston are made of. If things aren't going well during the season we make a trade, for possibly Arenas. But honestly, the Wizards better be prepared to not get a lot in return, no one wants Arenas contract.

I would be happy with Gilbert and Blatche, and even happier with Gilbert and McGee. But I dont see McGee being traded out. He is really starting to shine, and I think he is a major part of the future of Washington along with Wall. But if we could trade the Dampier contract, Diop and DJ for Gilbert and Blatche, I would be very happy. It at least makes us competitive with Miami and Orlando. If CP3 or Collison are not to be had from NO, then dealing with the Wiz would likely be out best bet. But I know there are those at BCP who are violently opposed to Gilbert being in Charlotte. If this trade happened, it would be a topic which is argued over more than all the Felton threads from the past couple years. Talk about fun!I might like to see it done simply for all the arguing which would happen!

The ONLY way I'd ever consider us taking on Gil is if the following trade goes down:

Part 1:
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2fxoxye

Part 2:
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2bg5sqq

And they would never do that. So I consider the Gil to Charlotte idea a pointless discussion

Do I love Gil? Yes.
Do I have Gil underoos? No.

Doesn't change the fact that he has one of the worst contracts in the league and is the owner of absolutely zero trade value. There's no way we take that on the books without getting rid of BOTH Diop and Boris and get back one of their talented bigs.

I don't see Jordan going into the tax for some dude that he would have given nightmares to if they were playing in the same era...

SWedd : That's OK, I have Gilbert underoos!

Kickazzz : If that was the case, MJ would not sign anyone. He gave EVERYONE nightmares! The closest thing to MJ is Kobe. No one else is close.

That can be said for 99% of the NBA.

Perhaps I should rephrase...

There are some guys who either a. got under jordans skin (Reggie Miller), put up a good fight (Malone and Stockton), or were from a slightly older era that Jordan had to beat to get to the top (Celtics, Lakers)

Then theres John Starks. Dominique Wilkins. Mitch Richmond. Shawn Kemp. Pre-injuries Penny and Grant Hill.

Jordan ate guys like that for lunch.

SWedd i can't see your trade . But i think Washington gives up value to get rid of Arenas.

I think Washington would do this . And i think it helps us big time.

Arenas, Blatche, McGee for Borris , Diop, Nazz,

They take back another bad contract but save millions, Thats why Blatche and McGee has to be added in this deal as incentive to take on Arenas. It allows Wall to start fresh with vetran leadership to start the rebuilding process.

We then cut Damps contract and resign him on the cheap.

We then have debth in case of injery,

Arenas, DJ, Livingston
Jax , Henderson , Carroll
Wallace , Ups, who is that oyher guy?
TT, Blatche, Najera
McGee, Blatche, Damp

Ive read TT can guard the three, So we could go big while resting Wallace.
Long lean athletic guys witch Brown loves.

Only other point prospects i can think of is Calderone, Harris , Though i don't think Harris can be had easy.

My proposal was

Boris, Diop, Carroll

for

Gil, McGee, Young

Gil/DJ/Livingston
Jack/Hendo/Young
Crash/UPS/WhatsHisFace
Tyrus/Najera/Amundson?
McGee/Nazr/Damp

I can't think of any circumstances where I would want the combination of Gil's gigantic contract and questionable knees on the Bobcats roster.

A number of times in Larry's tenure with the Bobcats I've heard Rod talk about acquiring assets for the organization (albeit sometimes those assets-Damp's contract, come along with liabilities-Carroll and Najera's contracts). But nothing about Gilbert could be considered an asset. Maybe he plays 45 games? Maybe he doesn't disrupt the lockerroom?

Absolutely he cripples our cap situation for the next 3-4 years. and he's not even close to the type of PG that would make us an immediate contender of a run to the Finals (MJ's criteria for going into the Luxury Tax).

yea but diaw diop and a good pg that we would need would cripple our cap situation...

it's like saying we're getting gil for 6-7 mil

the last year we can dump him so its only a 3 year contract...

possible lockout makes it a 2 year deal...

if we trade nazzy and get mcgee or blatche this would be good....

i personally dont like him but i've seen him take over games... and with how lb got ai to play his best i think lb can get gil to really commit to the team... we would have 3 players who could take over games...

Tyson Chandler took over a game last year and we dumped him during his expiring contract year.

Gilbert as averaged playing in 16 of 82 games the last 3 season...only 47 games played of 246 regular season games (those are Sean May numbers).

and his stats....are like Raymond Feltons (not a dig at Ray, but Ray doesn't make $17-20M) either.

Arenas, Blatche, McGee for Borris , Diop, Nazz,

this is ridiculous. you can't be serious. There is no chance in hell the Wiz would consider this trade. Arenas is still an Allstar, Blatche a 20/10 player and McGee is also a special young player who could turn into a better version of Chandler. They have a nice young core with Wall/Blatche/McGee plus a bunch of veterans and they will certainly not trade them for our garbage.

Forget..how could you forget one of the stupidest actions by an NBA player the entire season? An action with his state of mind I can't honestly predict he wouldn't repeat in Charlotte.

The fact is he is unreliable at best, unpredictable often and unworthy of being a part of our team at $17-20M/season (in my opinion).

As both a long time Bullets/Wizards and new Bobcats fan this would be a hard move for me to get on board with. I would be okay with Arenas playing here in Charlotte, but I would not want my Wiz taking on crappy contracts like Diop. Not to say that Gil with his shakey knees are anymore of a sure thing. I def dont see the Wiz giving up McGee and Blatche's attitude is the only thing holding him back this year.

I think many of you are putting way too much stock into the Larry can rehab anyone mantra. We cannot continue to add pieces that may or may not be locker room disrupters and just arbitrarily say "well Larry can handle anyone." at some point it will blow up in our faces. At some point we become the Bengals of the NBA. Thrilling to watch but ultimately not championship worthy. And I believe that a team with Stephen "haymaker" Jackson, tyrus "it's not my fault" Thomas, Gilbert "always strapped when I hit the lockerroom" arenas, and Andre "Bonehead" blatche, is the first step to Bungal status.

To support the "LB can make anyone better/or rehab anyone" thought...take a look at Diop...does anyone actually think this guy is better than he was with Dallas...

Arenas (here or anywhere) will still be Arenas...and better anywhere but here...

I think Blatche would thrive hear, True im sceard of Arenas;

What about two trades .
Calderon for Diaw, and DJ or Henderson for Blatche ,
Washington is looking to move Blatche

No. Getting Arenas would be like a one-night fling with your crazy ex. Fun in the short term, but then you find out you knocked her up, you instantly regret it, but still have to mail her checks every month for the foreseeable future causing spontaneous bouts of blurting out "What the F was I thinking?" and banging your head against the wall. It's not worth it.

(although wrecking a blanket her grandma made can be fun).
