Mike Cranston is reporting that the bobcats have signed Sherronn Collins to help out with pg depth.

I'm happy with that. Collins, although not exactly "talented" is hard working, strong and seems determined to want to do well. Plus, his name isn't Pargo so I'm extra happy about that.

Thats good news, you think we are still looking to sign Hughes?

Hearing the #Bobcats (http://twitter.com/search?q=%23Bobcats) are leaning on waiving Erick Dampier to clear his $13 million from the cap. Trade would be difficult to pull off 29 minutes ago (http://twitter.com/mikecranston1/status/20483329299) via web

<LI id=status_20482161808 class="hentry u-mikecranston1 status">Collins' deal with #Bobcats (http://twitter.com/search?q=%23Bobcats) is for 2 years. Not guaranteed. Has two triggers, though, before Jan that would make it guaranteed if on roster

So I'm guessing the Bobcats have a trade plan?

Yeah, I think the FO continues to send out false info. Wayyyy to early to consider cutting Damp. Several teams want to remove salary as bad as we do.

I think August will be a slow news month. Things should pick up next month.

I would rather take a chance on a guy like Collins than getting Hughes anyway. +1 for Hendo.

I don't see this as having an influence on whether or not we're still interested in Hughes. His deal is unguaranteed (til January!) so it still could only be thru training camp.

Maybe LB decides to run with Henderson as his backup 2...but IMO our interest in Hughes affects him vs. any PG. Even so, we don't know that DJ won't be moved before it's all said and done either.

expected. He was the best pg at our summer league but that isn't saying much...

Collins makes 15 though right?

Welcome to Charlotte Sherron!

As 3rd on the point guard depth chart, Collins will be okay. There is no guarantee that Augustine will still be on the team opening night. Either way, I don't see Collins playing major minutes to worry about it.

I think regardless its a safe sign.....

I'm not sure (I'll take your word on it), but either way that's not a problem until the 1st game of the season. It's unguaranteed, which basically means he's a "last resort" type of guy if we need him to be.

We'll also at least waive Dampier. Maybe we can get him back cheaper and I hope we do...but I'd be surprised if what we have left will get him.

Have we done the same thing before? Strawberry or someone?

He fits the castaway, legal-troubles motif we have going to boot. Solid signing.

15 doesn't matter right now. With 3 unguaranteed deals (Damp, Sherron and UPS), and likely a fourth in that McGuire dude (who the fuck is he, anyway?) we could still sign a couple guaranteed guys and as many non-guarantees as we want.

Unless the 'guy' is Delonte West and he's off his medication, then he might count as 2 or 3 players depending on his multiple personalities.

In the Cats' defense, the McGuire signing hardly gets me apathetic....confusion from not knowing who the fuck he is overtook me immediately.
