awesome. thanks ziggy. AMC is kind of on fire arent they?

i was into it at "zombies" , the fact that frank darabont directs it seals the deal.

I mean Shawshank man....he made Shawshank. How can this not be good?

I never got into Mad Men which got lots of critical acclaim, but if this is half as good as Breaking bad which is another AMC show, then it'll be must see TV.

Zombies...yes!
I love zombie movies, games, novels!

Big zombie fan.
When L4D came out, I was so happy.
When Killing Floor came out, I also again was happy (though was more mutants than zombies)
When L4D2 came out, I cried in frustration at Valve.

But I am so watching that, and also looking forward to 28 months later coming in 2011. Resident Evil movies are crap as as they add some superpowered chick and don't stick to the original STARS Redfield+Valentine which sucks balls.

But really, that series looks good.

I haven't read it, but after reading the reviews on Amazon, I'd like to.
I wonder if reading the book would ruin the show for me though :g:

I reckon it'd be just as with the 'Watchmen' (here assuming that the show is gonna follow the comics' storyline), in that most everyone who watched the movie without being familiar with its basis thoroughly enjoyed it, whilst others kept nitpicking and finding shortcomings. Then again, maybe the episodic format will do the source material due justice.

I'm hoping it's gonna rock.

the new show rubicon is also pretty good through 3 episodes.

I cant believe someone finally made a zombie show. This is going to be awsome. There is so much more to be explored than what is shown in movies.

Has anyone here read The Walking Dead? Just wondering. Been reading it in single-issue form since it came out (boy, did I make a mint selling earlier issues on ebay!!!)

From reading the letters pages in the back of each issue, I'd say anyone who wants to read collected editions is safe from spoilers...maybe the first volume will spoil, but I hear they're veering off from then on.

Not sure if the show will follow suit, but the comic is 80% character study/20% zombie/horror, which doesn't seem like a good ratio, but it makes that 20% all the more horrific. Some crazy shit happens in the book (which is black and white)....really interested to see how they pull it off in live action color.

Zombies creep me the F out!

It looks pretty awesome though! The zombie's look pretty crazy too. I think it'll be good but won't be very successful. Who knows?

28 weeks later had the potential to be so much more, but fell short. Same with 28 days later.

The true movie everyone should watch is Zombieland. I laughed my ass off with some parts, and it was a pretty brilliant horror-comedy.

There's also High School of the Dead anime. Basically, zombies take over the world and a bunch of high schoolers in Japan team up to stay alive. Mass killing and tons of fanservice (big boobies bouncing around, panty shots) ensue. Fun stuff.

I just finished watching the 1st episode of the Walking Dead which I recorded on Sunday, and in my opinion it was phenomenal.

What did the rest of you zombie lovers think of it?

I have it recorded but still haven't gotten to it. Not enough free time and I have to finish #78 as well. Folks have been saying it's amazing... we shall see.

The show (so far) is horrified to deviate from the source material, which kills all suspense. I mean, I dug everything, writing was crisp and witty, the acting was surprisingly convincing, costumes and sets were believable and one can get rid of the colour easily (watch it in black & white and increase the contrast somewhat... I'm sad, I know). I simply wasn't as entertained as I'd hoped I'd be.

I want Rick to die.

Its a small miracle that they were able to pull this stunt off without somebody getting shot, or at the very least beat to death with a shovel.

The Walking Dead is F'ing awesome. I love the drama filled story line surrounded with zombie attacks. Only three shows left in the season. But AMC has already signed on for a season two. I will be buying the box set.

question for all the married guys (and gals). how much elapsed time would have to go by before it is even remotely acceptable for your (assumed) widowed spouse to be taking it from behind from your best friend in zombie infested woods? do you fault your best friend at all? i know the 3rd episode exposed some marital problems in the past, but really it could only be 6-8 weeks?

When I kick the bucket, I expect a full 75 years of mourning from my spouse before anything like that takes place.

Just finished watching episode #3 and I have to say that this is quickly becoming one of my favorite shows on television

I've already quit the show. Those cable abominations and the 'hunk of cheese' dialogue lines simply haven't grown on me. Imma stick to the comics.

Wow, I never read the Walking Dead comics, Is the show diverging from the comic's storyline? Or is it staying on the storyline but not maintaining the comic's quality?

The latter. Though they introduced several characters, events and alternate paths, the gist of the series is still intact. I don't know about the rest, but for me, the post-zombie-apocalyptic feel is more palpable and believable in the comics (in a sense, the story just doesn't translate all too well onto the tv screen... same shit happened with the Watchmen (unlike V for Vendetta... mmm, Natalie)). My advice, drop the show and pick up the comics.

I whole heartedly disagreed.....But sadly season 2 wont be back till Oct. AMC wants to do another horrorfest and The Walking Dead is the highlight. Atleast next season will have 13 shows instead of 6
