Bioshock: Infinite (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pV_TDxl2UIo)
Ken Levine strikes again.
I think that the stark contrast to the original Bioshock will revitalize the series after a somewhat bland sequel (had great gameplay improvements but fell flat on the story front).
I've watched the trailer six times.

That looks good. I might have to give bioshock a chance.
I loved the first game, it was such a unique and terrifying world. I haven't played the 2nd one though, I heard it was essentially the same game but not as good (if that makes any sense). This however, could be epic beyond belief. I can't wait to see some actual gameplay and get a little insight on the story.

Gotta change my undies... Yep, checked this out last night on XBL with a friend and I was fuggin' mesmerised. Bioshock is my favorite game ever, wonder if Infinite will take its place? Looking like a strong candidate at this point.

Alright, I've never played Bioshock until last night. Just never got around to it. Ended up playing with my speakers fully cranked up in a dark room (on a PS3 FYI). I then realised once the dude dies at the start that it was a survival horror. I was like FML, I'm horrible with survival horrors...but I kept playing and it's damn creepy in a room with no lights except for your tv and sound cranked up.

Lol. Almost three years later, it hits tomorrow. To say I'm looking forward to my UPS fella delivering this baby to me tomorrow is an understatement.

If you value narrative over gameplay, then by all means, get it asap. Otherwise, it might not be your cup of tea.
For every person that practically worships Levine (including me), there's another who hates his guts.

I played and completed the first two, absolutely loved them. Just want to know if it's more of the same or if it had changed. Either way, I will still like it!

I've played it for a couple of hours now and all I can say is that it deserves the universal acclaim it's been getting (as long as one enjoys the Bioshock series). My advice, pay attention to everything and immerse yourself in all the minutiae. What's surprising this time is that they've managed to make the combat fun as well (don't bother playing on "normal" difficulty, it's way too easy).
I'm off too Columbia.

I'm off too Columbia. Great to hear, and glad to hear from you, bing; I'm probably wrong, but it seems like it's been awhile since you posted (probably just not paying attention as usual).
I play games for their immersive quality (Re: Bioshock being my favorite game ever) and take much longer "beating" games than most I know because I do stop and just rotate the camera to look at the settings/environs.
Shipping snafu says I probably won't get it today but when I do, I'm off to Columbia as well.

Am I missing something? Can I come to Colombia too? Sure you can, plow, you just gotta get the game and you're there. (Columbia is the fictional setting of the game.)
Still haven't got my copy yet from amazon....hulk rage builds....

Just finished the game... I'm beyond words.
Being familiar with quantum mechanics will help immensely with certain plot elements involving probabilities. I'm gettin' goosebumps just thinking about the ending. This is the best fucking game ever!

I fired it up and heard Shine on Harvest Moon on the main menu screen and it was over for me....I'm in love. Next, in the lighthouse (love the nod to another lighthouse off the northeast US coast that began a gaming masterpiece!) I spent 10 minutes listening to That Old Time Religion and inspecting the sights. When I arrived in Columbia, I couldn't leave the entry...the hauntingly beautiful rendition of Will the Circle be Unbroken...I spent probably a good half hour just walking around amazed at the things I saw and heard.
I've played for 3 hours and haven't gotten anywhere plotwise...just exploring and absolutely loving it. Hearing the barbershop quartet singing (marvelously) God Only Knows was an awesome WTF moment. Beach Boys in 1912? Once I can get past the wonder of Columbia, I may finally find this Elizabeth gal, but damn, there's just too much goodies to inspect.

Indeed. The visual/aural splendor is what kept me captivated during the first couple of hours. Once I got to the fair, I didn't wanna leave. It's incredible how a game can bring such a world to life, where everything fits perfectly with what the designers set out to achieve.
As for the "soundtrack" that seems out of place/time, it's neatly vowen into the overarching plot.
I've finished the game twice already and I'm already contemplating a third playthrough. It's strange, I can't recall a single game that invited me back in such a way. I guess it speaks volumes as to the world design. As someone else mentioned, I think I spent more time using the "walk" button than "sprint".

I really don't want to leave to the point that I re-started the game over just to go through all of it again! The only other game I've done such is Bioshock. I loved swimming to shore to the lighthouse in the distance, climbing in the bathysphere and discovering Rapture so much I re-started that game 3 times I think before I was ready to get into the "story."
Levine and Irrational are wizards of gamecraft!

Alright your nerdgasms have convinced me. Should I start with BioShock or just jump into Infinite?

Well, with regard to the plot, the games are only tangentially related, so it's not necessary, but playing the original beforehand will make you better appreciate certain tidbits in Infinite. Even if you don't care about that, the original Bioshock is an amazing game in and of itself and you should play it regardless.

I'm primarily a Halo guy, but the only other game I've spent more than a couple of hours on is the original Bioshock. Very good game.

Once you've played one, you'll want to play the other whichever one you start with.

Finished it.
Nice plot twist, but I sort of figured it was coming, but all the other external stuff was REALLY confusing.
Gameplay wise is ehhh. Skyrails are bloody awesome, but it was more the environment and being immersed in it while going through the story that was the highlight.
