View Full Version : Bobcats/Cavs Trade Scenario
Cleveland trades:
Antawn Jamison
Charlotte trades:
Boris Diaw
Eduardo Najera
2nd rounder
Why for Cleveland? Saves 1.5 mil this year, 3.5 mil next year. More importantly it opens up minutes for Hickson, they can play Diaw at SF easier than Jamison at this point in his career. And they get a 2nd. It's not a franchise changing move, but one that makes the lineup next year fit easier with a rebuilding movement
Why for Charlotte? Tired Of Diaw's lazy ass, We upgrade him to Jamison. WE remain under the tax after waiving Dampier. Jamison gives us some much needed extra offense and spacing beside Sjax and Wallace

Jamison is no upgrade. He's old trash with an awful contract. No thank you.

Jamison couldn't help a 61 win Cavs team with Lebron.

Contrary to all the rest of you, I'd like to sign Jamison. However he's not a "LB" player. Defense is atrocious.
I do like that he can rebound and on top of that, can score and hit some 3's. He's also more aggressive and is a definite team player. He is an upgrade over Diaw.
What I don't like and the reason why I wouldn't want him, is salary. 13 million this year, 15 million next year. Diaw is on the books for 9 million the next two years.
No need to add 10 million over the next two years for Jamison! If their salaries were the same or similar I'd do it.

Hickson is one of the few on that team that I'd actually go after (not that Cleveland will trade him). Hickson could be our Center.

I'd take hickson, but they wouldn't include him in a trade for Stoudamire. No way we have anything they'd want for Hickson. Secondly, he'd be a small center at 6'9 242 pounds.

True, but i'd take 3 less inches and thirty pounds less for his court running ability, springy legs and youthfulness.

Question for you - would you put Thomas or Diaw at our 5 this year as the starter?

Diaw would better (but not desirable) at defending the larger centers in the league. However, Thomas would be exceedingly better at stopping people at the rim. So Thomas could become Okafor-lite at Center, except he brings a jumpshot to the mix on the offensive end.
We may very well have an amoeba defense (no particular size, shape or organization that works as One).
However, if we go small ball, we would almost have to play more masked-zone defense with a lot of trapping and full court pressure.

Let's hope they don't think Kwame is a savior....

Im still thinking the Dust chip will be traded , To some one like Denver whos siting at 77 milion and no hope for a championship. The right trade could get both teams out of tax hell . What other reason do we have to sign K Brown??

What scenario would allow both teams to drop $7M off their payroll? The chip is only $13M.

Why would any of you not want Antawn. Sure he is old, yes he didnt help out CLE, but the whole CLE thing was all LeBron. Nobody on that team played well.
Jamison is no upgrade? He's way better than Meow.

Diaw > Jamison at this point. Diaw is also probably the best option at center on the roster. It is close between him and Nazr. LB even said in the playoff series that Diaw played Dwight as well as anyone.
The only guy we should try and get from the cavs is Andy V. Somebody that is looking to bang and get nasty mixing it up down low is one of the things this team is missing.

Not on that contract he isn't. And not for the atrocious defense he plays.

Carroll and Damp for Smith , Lawson , Anderson, Balkman. Provided we don't guarntee Collins or UPS. Though this can't be done til Sept 13th.
If Livingston is a Guarntee at 3.5 . We still will be close with in two milion.
two milion wouldn't be hard to rid A Boris trade could do that.

Having Jamison, Stephen Curry, and Anthony Morrow on the Bobcats roster would sell more tickets.

They're doing a solid job of selling tickets already. And Morrow wouldn't draw any more than McInnis did. Steph would, but he's untouchable. And short of a Diaw + Diop for Jamison deal, it doesn't make sense to get Antawn.

Dav, it's impossible for us to cut a deal with Denver that would result in both teams being under the LT. Since both of our teams are over the cap, we can only trade within 125% of salaries. Sending Dampier and Hammer would have to get something close to $17mil in salary in return, doing so doesn't change our position in the tax.
The only way we can deal with a team where both us and them stay under the tax is if the other team is already far enough below the tax to be able to absorb Damp's contract without having to send a matching salary out. Think Minny, Sactown, among others.

Swedd once we trade with Denver they cut Damp taking 13 of the 17360 off thair Cap , That leaves them setting at around 68 million after you add back the 4.4oo for Carroll.
Us in Smith , Lawson, Anderson , Balkman Leaves taking back about 5 million less than going out, That will come off the 70+ what ever is a gurnteeded. Im gussing around 77 milion , Leaves us at around 72 , Borris and Henderson can help os shead the last two milion. That is why Damp is called a dust chip . I all so think we have a 3.4 million execption that might put us under tax hell , Not sure how Tax Exemptions work?
This trade just works under the trade checker , I tryed all most ever trade possable for sarely savings , They five million saveings hear is about as good as it can get and stay with in the 125% Thats why Balkman is added in.

I'd love to get Varejao though. We should try to trade Nazr and maybe a 2nd for him.

Getting Jamison would take time away from Thomas. So it's not going to happen. I do think that Jamison will be traded this year, but it won't be to the Bobcats.

How about Jamison to the Lakers for Walton/Sasha/ V/Caracter + 2 first round picks. Lakers go from the worst bench in the league to a bench of Odem/Jamison/Blake/Barnes/Ratlif scary.

I don't see the lakers doing that. Especially with being over the cap, Jerry West wanting to cut salary, and Jamison being owed $28 million over the next 2 years.
