Sounds good to me. Now lets just hope we do something smart with him. I think Jordan is wanting to do something big. Of course, he might not be able to. It will be fun to watch.

Good. It almost sounds like they have a deal in place, or at least the foundations of one. Hopefully the trade helps our team.

The quotes do kind of have that vibe. The problem with that is that trades that sit too long tend to sour on one side or the other.

Well its good to see they got a deal in place (atleast it sounds that way) As long as talks don't die down or MJ has second thoughts (agan) it shouldn't be bad.

[/URL]Dampier: Bobcat Math for Reasonable Trades (http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1048801)[U]- RGM Trade Board

1. The Bobs are about $9 mil over the lux, so simply waiving Dampier saves them:

13 salary
9 lux
3 lux share
$25 mil in savings.

2. Its unlikely in a straight-up trade that they can find an available player so valuable that trading Dampier's $13 mil contract will get them a player worth more than $25 mil to them.

2a. A better option that still saves money is to trade Dampier + incentive to a team with lots of cap space, so they get a giant TPE that they can use next summer.

=================

3. If we assume that ending up under the lux is valuable (and $21 mil says it is), likely trading partners will be under the cap.

4. Are teams over the cap possible? Algebraicly it breaks down like this:

OUT: Dampier + others
IN: New players + $9 mil TPE

(13 + x)/1.25 = 9

This means that a good deal would be Dampier + about $20 mil in other Bobs, and getting back about $24 mil in salary, and $9 mil in cap space. Larger numbers provide more flex room, as do simulataneous trades using available TPE's.

5. A giant deal would be difficult, and if Dampier is traded, its most likely going to be with a team with cap space.

This guy really gets it in regards to Dampier and our need to stay under the LT. FWIW I agree with him in that our best bet seems to be what he's proposing.

Since I'm no cap-ologist, I don't have the acumen to be able to put forth such a well-worded post as that fella, but I too absolutely agree with what he proposes, and have been thinking the same thing since the CP deal fell through.

What's really reassuring about this post is that, if they play it right, the FO still has a chance of coming out ahead....
