The comments are interesting. Is DimeMag a legit source these days?

I think this is possible if he can stay on Larry's good side.
4. D.J. Augustin (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/4471/)(notes) (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/4471/news), PG, Bobcats. Someone has to be the point guard. He took some steps backward last year, but that was because Larry Brown really wanted to make Ray Felton into a pretty good point guard. And he did. Now, with Felton gone, he can do the same with Augustin. He can shoot the 3, but he has to do better at playing within Larry's system and not trying to do too much on his own.

The likely hood of DJ having a breakout season? Not too flash hot, but he has a chance. He's now the number 1 man, time for him to nut up...or shut up.

I was actually suprised that Augustin was on there, but unfortunately there's no proof in past perfomance that will suggest this. ILBIT I suppose, and I hope Augustin will break out and LB doesn't bench him after the first 20 minutes where he struggles.

He does have strong a/t ratio when a starter and scores, but he only has 14 starts. I think he's a strong contributor but doesn't have the background to suggest he will definitely breakout, especially considering last years regression.
Hope for the best though!!!

He was brilliant in college. And showed a lot of promising things during the rookie season. Even if he regressed, that's still development minutes he got to be on that court and playing. Now he's learnt to play, even while struggling and to get through it. I think even though he's struggled, it'll help him in the long term as he knows what it's like to struggle and HOW hard he has to work to get over the road bump.

I think our breakout player will probably be Gerald Henderson. I don't think Jackson plays as many minutes this season and DJ plays very few at the 2. Henderson gets a bit more time and seems to have gotten better during summer league.
I'm not saying the guy becomes a starter or a top 5 player on the team, but I think he starts to make meaningful contributions this year.
DJ obviously has the best situation to be a breakout player, but I'm wondering if there may be more to Livingston's game than we think.

I think the player most likely to breakout is Tyrus Thomas. He only played 25 or so games last year, and is now entrenched as a starter/6th man. He's the only player that hasn't already stepped it up to the next level ala Crash, jax, etc.
I think he'll do it! Could see DJ or Hendo being possible too. Would Livingston count since he's new? We'll see!!

I think Tyrus has really started to turn the corner. Could see DJ flourishing as well.

Hendo will almost certainly get more minutes. He's improved tremendously since last year. UPS hopefully also gets some good minutes.
Here's to hoping DJ, TT and Hendo have breakout seasons.

Tyrus Thomas can make history in Charlotte (http://dimemag.com/2010/09/tyrus-thomas-can-make-history-in-charlotte/)
Literally from the moment he stepped on the floor in a Bobcats uniform, Tyrus was visibly more enthused about his job. In his half-a-season in Charlotte he averaged 10.1 points, 6.1 boards and 1.5 blocks, and helped the franchise secure its first-ever playoff berth. Going into free agency he said multiple times that he wanted to stay in Charlotte, and was rewarded with a five-year, $40 million contract.
Head coach Larry Brown believes Thomas can be a star, and you know what? So do I.
Thomas brings tremendous hops and a desire, if not the technique, to play solid defense. He will be given the platform to prove himself, because the Tyson Chandler experiment was a short one and there really isn’t another big-man option in town. Now, four-plus seasons into his career, he is still young, just 24, not quite as raw, and still insanely athletic. He is an unfinished project.
Charlotte is the perfect place for Tyrus to try and remove the “bust” label that surrounds his name. Larry Brown isn’t the type of coach to give up on players — he tried his hardest to make it work with Allen Iverson. This season, Thomas is going to have to learn to make smarter decisions and develop a trustworthy mid-range game. Some players are just late bloomers, and Tyrus has the opportunity to be the best big-man in Charlotte’s short history.
