Does anyone have a foolproof way to get out of it?
I really don't want to sit through possibly days in court.

It helps alot if you have relatives in law enforcement, and make sure you call in the night before (lot of times the judge has a tee time in the morning and you get excused w/out showing up).
and if that doesn't work, you can use the line a lady sitting beside me in the juror selection box a few years ago.
Defense Attorney: "Do you have any relatives in law enforcement?"
Prospective Juror: "Yes I do, CIA, FBI, Secret service, Highway patrol, sheriff and security guards"
Defense Attorny: "Do you feel you could give the defendant the benefit of the doubt before concluding his guilt or innocence inspite of your relative's employment in law enforcement?"
Prospective Juror: "No, it would be impossible....look at him (gesturing towards the defendant), he looks guilty doesn't he? I think he's guilty"
Defense Attorney: (to the Judge) "Your honor we respectively ask the court to dismiss prospective juror #28 for cause and thank her for her contribution to the court."

As a minor I have no clue what all you'd have to do, but my parents always used me and my brother as excuses. And since you're a dad, shouldn't that work?

I may use that one teej,
And its somewhat true because I'd have to make some afterschool arrangements for the kids if I have to go to jury duty.

In Australia, you can use language barriers as a reason. Funny story, my friend's dad said he couldn't do jury duty due to 'language barriers.' He's got perfect english .
All the best to you getting out of it Ziggy!
