We don't have 5 million...only about 2.2 million.

What we can do is take more money back in trades utilizing the 125% +100k rule.

I honestly do not know. Maybe Diaw will be dealt for a PG or Center?

Sign AI? :D

Grab a center with the 2.2 million!

Cheap Point guards signed mid-season (that I can think of):
Earl Boynkins
Larry Hughes
Acie Law
Sean Singletary
Derek Anderson

Cheap Bigs we've signed I can think of midseason:
Theo Ratliff
Juwan Howard

Brain is a little hazy about the names, but based on those names we'll actually utilize the bigs and they seem to contribute, while the guards benchwarm.

So.....sign a big!

I would spend $4,999,995.00 on strippers... then get Jeff McInnis out of retirement with the last 5 bucks

Only if he doesn't mind starting at the 1 so that we can start DJ at the 2!

Maybe we will cherry pick one of those big Euro Centers that was just playing in the World Championship in Turkey.

The BCP's Euro/Asian/Australian members should have a scouting report to our front office soon. hint hint hint

We spend a million on AI with heavy conditions. Spend a million on a vet center.

Unless we are going to roll the dice with Darius Miles ( who could be good if knees hold up), Shaun Livingston can light it up as he showed last yr at seasons end ( if knees stay healthy), Kwame is a million dollar guy who can atleast give us some good fouls.

We get rid of Diaws contract and bring in what we need

I am just glad we didnt make another stupid long term XX million deal on a benchwarmer. Also glad we got rid of TC, as he just used up all of his Mojo for the season playing in turkey. He will be injured before preseason ends.

Do nothing. Hold where we are at and start the season as we are right now. That space may be necessary to use during the season if we are in a position to make a trade at that time.

Australian side, you have about 5 key players.

1. Patty Mills
2. Nathan Jawai (dude can't even get PT in the NBA)
3. Joe Ingles (He's a SG, so hes out of the equation)
4. David Anderson (With some team in the NBA)
5. Alek Maric (Something like that, and he'll cost a lot more than 2 million)

Enjoy...

Lets face it guys, diaw is prob better than any centre out there on free agency. When LB went small last year it was one of our most successful line ups. Anyway if GW or TT go down, we will have a very good replacement if diaw stays

I would love to have Patty Mills. He's been getting a raw deal for years now.

I would feel much better if we just signed Flip. But it would kill Hendos playing time again.

I think we better at the five than most think .

Nazz did a great job starting last year . Brown seems to have something to prove . Im predicting he will post about what Chandler post last year. Diop though he can't play any offence. He has the size to bang with any body in the league.
We never had much chance to play Diaw and TT at the same time last season . If we end up starting Livingston, The whole team could switch on defence.
This five would work on about half of the teams
Doris, TT, Crash, Caption Jax, Come back kid

Boris for Jason Terry.

Terry is owed 21 million over 2 years, Boris 18 million. Seasoned vet, and according to a Mavs' fan:

He was the starting PG on the only Maverick team to ever reach the finals. The Mavs have only gotten out of the 1st round once (4 trys) since moving him out of the PG spot.

I would not be so anti-Terry if they would play him at PG, but as long as they want to play Barea and Beaubois at PG, Terry has to go and a trade for Boris Diaw sounds good to me right now.

I don't particularly like it, but it's an upgrade over what we have now...and at least we wouldn't be taking on more years. He's another offensive option anyway.

I rather sign flip than have JT.

Also I don't mind Mills either. He's solid, not spectacular but he can score and play.

I dont hate this, Jason Terry can score in droves.

But honestly If we are gonna suck, lets just suck with who we have. Give Dj a real chance, give Henderson a real chance, give TT and Brown real chances. and lets freaking see what we have.

Bringing in vets may give us a couple more wins, but it doesnt raise our chances of post season success. Our best bet in this oh so dismal state of affairs is to give our young potential a shot at being great.

DJ
Livingston
Brown
Henderson
TT

Thats 5 guys with flashes of talent. guys that have shown little instances of being really good players in this league. Give them a chance. a couple starts even.

If 2 of those 5 turn out to be real players then i consider it a success. and you never know what you got till they get some shine. maybe something clicks in Brown or Hendo and they start ramping up their play and consistency. Then you have an opportunity to move someone like Jack or Wallace for a legit big man or something. I mean right now thats our best hope as bleak as it may be.

If we had any other coach Must I'd be right there with you at this stage, but I don't know that LB can deal with it. Everything in him is screaming "win now", so I doubt seriously if he'd be at all agreeable with a "development" year.

Notice in one of Bonnell's latest he mentioned that LB knew there were going to be financial decisions coming. Personally I think that was what was driving all the offseason stuff with him thinking about going somewhere else. If the rumors are right and MJ kind of forced him back, trying to develop talent is only going to make him more disgruntled.

09-15-2010, 02:38 PM
If LB is going to be disgruntled he can gtfo. This isn't all about him.

I am not worried about the center spot because we have Diaw/Nazr/Diop to hold it down. I am looking forward to Diop getting some run and showing everyone he is a beast.

DJ/Livingston is fine for the point guard spot. Collins can be the third guard in case of injury.

If the shit really hits the fan Diaw can play any position needed. Trading him would be stupid.

Lineup:

DJ/Livingston/Collins
Jackson/Hendo/Carroll
Wallace/Brown/McGuire
Tyrus/Najera/Diaw
Diaw/Nazr/Diop

just run like hell with the starting lineup and slow it down a tad when Nazr or Diop is in the game.

I hear what you're saying about LB, but he's gonna be here this upcoming season. It was real obvious that he affected DJ's mentality last year and that was with Felton getting the bulk of it. Imagine what LB could do to DJ when he's the focal point AND LB's wanting to grind an axe.

What can you do? Most likely DJ would suck do to all the sniping cuz his confidence would be wrecked, and you'd have LB saying "See, I TOLD you he wasn't starter quality".

MJ isn't going to fire LB.

Wouldn't that reflect on LB since he wanted to draft him.

LB is well known for falling in and out of love with players in a very short time. From all reports he's been trying to move him since last season.

I don't think he cares how it reflects on him.

boris diaw at the five would be the biggest mismatch when he is on defensive. i think kwame could put 20+ pts up on diaw.

Guys, Kwame Brown may be a perfect fit for Larry Brown as a coach. Let us try to see Kwame in this way. The guy comes to our team on the cheap and in actuality as a defensive player he is not all that bad. Larry Brown does not seem to care that his Centers play that much offense. I think with Kwame as a serviceable Center playing behind Nazr we will be better than we expect at the Center position. I look forward to seeing what we have.

I like Kwame's chances of success here. Like others, I'm interested in seeing what the young guns are in capable of. If Boris & Tyrus both started though or were on the floor at the same time, wouldn't it make more sense to have Thomas at the 5?
