As of right now, the following players have guaranteed contracts for the 'Cats.

Livingston/DJ
Jack/Carroll
Crash/Hendo
TT/Diaw/Najera
Nazzy/Gana/Kwame

That's 11. Kwame is almost a lock for 12 but not guaranteed.

Sherron, UPS, McGuire, Miles, Antonie Walker can all be cut too.

That said, who's still out there with the 2.2 million left on the MLE?

Top 5 PGs:
Flip Murray
Earl Watson
Anthony Johnson
Patrick Mills
Jamaal Tinsley

Top 5 PF/Cs:
Earl Barron
Josh Boone
Kyrylo Fesenko (restricted)
Steven Hunter
Randolph Morris

If LB isn't happy with Sherron, there's more than a few guys out there who can fill that role. Flip could play some SG too, which looks to be a concern, although Livingston/DJ can play together. Earl would be a good true point, though he may be a bit small for LB.

Fesenko has been offered the 1.1mm QO by Utah, but has refused to sign. He wants a multi-year deal, and depending on how much is offered, the Jazz may decline. Barron and the Knicks aren't agreeable, and while he's not a double double machine like he appeared, he's more than serviceable. Boone would be decent too.

Anyone I missed?

Im not as worried about the PG position as I am worried about our Centers...

We need to try an deal Diaw for a Center and then sign a back up/cheap PF.

Who?

No one is really in that pay range that isn't a long term mess or a superstar.

UPS is a must keep, he's worked hard and has an NBA body (with the work ethic, the shot and defense will come).

Flip is the best option for the PG if Collins doesn't rain 3's because he has shown he fits into LB's offense.

Fesenko mainly because he has a cool name, and he's tall.

If Flip isn't available...sign the Globetrotters starting PG, at least he'll be entertaining...like Boykins.

Rasho Nesterovich maybe?

Oh and I'd also be on board with Earl Watson as a veteran backup at the minimum contract.

I agree, I just worry he is another Gerald Green...

Agreed. Flip for the remaining MLE would be a steal for us IMHO.

If only they had waived him yesterday Amundson signed for only 2mil 2yr deal which would have left us with 2mil to give Flip.

A couple things:

1. While I would be totally cool with that, it actually would not have worked according to the CBA. Yes, we're some 5 million below the Luxury Tax limit, but we only have like 2.2 left of the MLE and that is ALL we can spend outside of minimum contracts. So, unless Flip would've taken the minimum, then we couldn't have had them both. On the other hand, we can add salary via trades under the (salary)*1.25+100,000 rule.

2. If the money is the same, he's probably smart to take a deal with GS. He may not make the playoffs, but his offensive stats are gonna look sweet. So, next time the contract fairy comes around, he'll probably cash in a little better.

I'd probably place a call to Jose Boone's agent. I've seen the nets play from the front row, and the guy is pretty intense. Not dirty, but "dirty enough."

I'm all for bringing Flip back. We could use him if we're failing offensively.

the newest news says that tim thomas is leaving the mavs to be with his sick wife (good to see from him). they only have dirk as a pf. they would probably do a terry for diaw straight trade. money is basically the same between the two, both for two years. both would be nice expirings next year. terry gets us a better guard rotation and nice bench scoring. could be a very logical move that has no financial implications.

i've watched boone play alot (being a uconn fan). he is a good body and defensive presence but has NO offensive game. his hands arent bad tho, and he can jam it down when need but his freethrow shooting is just as bad as diops. if we can sign him for the minimum i'd take it tho and just have a center by commitee? nazi's offensive was pretty good b4 his injury, i just dont know if he would even last the whole year.

Option A
DJ/Livingston/Tank
Jack/Hendo/Hammer

Tyrus/Diaw/Eddie

Option B
Terry/DJ/Livingston/Tank
Jack/Hendo/Hammer

Tyrus/Eddie

I'll take option A. (Unless DJ and Roddy are put in the trade as well)

Where are you getting the idea of Terry from? Just a made up idea or what?

I have a feeling if we bring JT in Cpt. Jack might pull the one shot revolver out. Probably still hates the douchebag with a massive head from the playoffs several years ago when it was Warriors vs Mavs.

Terry could be a "mini" DUST:

The Curious Case of Jason Terry’s Contract (http://www.sportshaze.com/the-curious-case-of-jason-terrys-contract/)

Terry, if he meets incentives, 1,500 minutes this season, is guaranteed his full $11.5 million for next season. If not, he can be waived for only a $5 million buyout.

To put that 1500 minutes into perpective, DJ last season played 1472 minutes, averaging 18.4 mpg.

Not that I'm advocating for Terry.

Are you thinking what I'm thinking, get rid of Diaw and then bench JT's ass a lot...to the point where we can trade him away also?

Boris Diaw
Matt Carroll

TJ Ford
Lance Stephenson
Solomon Jones

DJ/Shaun/Lance/TJ
Jack/Hendo
Crash/UPS/McGuire
Tyrus/Eddie
Nazr/Kwame/Jones/Diop

Turn around and trade TJ to Minny for a 2nd rounder. 9mil in extra cap space, and we get out of Boris' contract!
