TooCool,

I as our resident Australian on BobcatsPlanet, I have to know if seeing things like this are commonplace in your beloved homeland.

If it is, then I must admit that I don't think that I'm brave enough to ever set foot in Australia.

I'm going to try and go next year. What am I in for?

When's Gillard going to announce the new immigration laws? I've been looking at maybe a 3 year visa for a while. Give me the scoop while you're at it.

Yep, a spider that has captured and is eating a bird.

Imagine if Peter Parker was, instead, bitten by one of those...

He would be spider-hulk-man.

Alrighty then.
I won't sugar coat it for you.
It does happen, and you do get spiders that big over here.
THANKFULLY, not around where I live. All cities and so forth don't have spiders that big.
Cairns is more in the outback of Australia. If you go to our rainforest in Queensland, expect to see Spiders that big (only if you're lucky though).
So from order of chance to seeing bigass spider Rainforest>Cairns>Outback towns>Cities.

as a runner who occasionally passes through a random web or two, this is absolutely petrifying. imagine that thing scurrying about on your face and head.

I'd feel safer running into the spider personally

Thankfully no. I live in Perth, which is on the other side of Sydney (go google map it), it's the most isolated city in the world.
My missus is also extremely afraid of spiders, so I have to kill them for her =P.
Just because we don't see that spider, doesn't mean we can't be screwed over here as well.

Link to some of our more deadlier spiders.
Generally if the spider's poisonous, you'll be sick for a few days.
I have however seen a massive huntsman. Although not dangerous, the thing was frickin massive. By massive I mean at least 40 mm big.

Cat, if you stick to the cities the worst you'll see is probably a few small spiders and daddy long legs. Nothing really anymore extreme than that. Sightings of those badass mothers I posted up are extremely rare to find.

Are we still talking about spiders or NBA PF's & PG's with experience, passing ability and a jump shot?
