Yeah...I asked Bonnell in his blog last night and he doesn't know when it'll get released either. My guess would be the Fox channels would be producing some listing very soon.

Anybody know when it will be announced which games will be on Sports South and FSN?
Earlier today I pointed out on twitter to B.J. Evans that they had not released the TV schedule yet.
@HeHeHeGS
Mike Holden
@BobcatsBballPR did you know you have not released any sort of list of where we can watch/listen to the Bobcats games....
And he replied:
@BobcatsBballPR
B.J. Evans
@HeHeHeGS very aware! Our TV schedule is being finalized by Fox Sports, our radio remains the same on WFNZ. Once complete, we will release.
So ya, at least we know we haven't missed the announcement ;)

I don't know anything about the season tickets. Seems like they're constantly late with those, though. Not sure why that is.
As far as the game on Tuesday, though, it is preseason. Have they televised preseason games in the past?
I wonder what the hold up with the tv schedule is.
Have they televised preseason games in the past?
Usually one or two, but that's it.

I got the same email and it is confusing. I emailed my rep and parking is included but that email was sent in case people wanted to buy extra parking beyond the free parking they already have. (Don't completely understand that, but perhaps there is demand for extra parking) He also told me those parking passes along with the preseason tickets were being mailed out this past Thursday (10/7). Hope that clears some things up.

My rep said Season Tix Package was being sent out late last week. So all STHs should have it by week ends.
I think free parking is included to lower level STH, so the email may have been for STHs as a whole.
Just curious... Who's your tix rep(STH)?

The package also included the scan cards (like a credit card) which is your game ticket for the 2 preseason games, your Bobcats ID card for the upcoming season (for discounts at concessions, Team Store, etc), and the list of "exchange games" in the Ticket Trade program.
The ticket trade program is great, if you don't use tickets to any particular game, just keep the tickets and you can exchange them for one of 24 regular season games (not the Heat, Magic on weekends, Lakers, Celtics, Knicks (cuz of Raymond I presume), and select weekend games).

Just the things I mentioned (in their standard brochure). Has a couple flyers on benefits of being a STH (same as shown on their website), and a color schedule with list of the exchange games (ticket exchange). Tickets are said to be arriving 'shortly'.

Judging by the remarks on Bonnell's blog, with "no sportsouth hd" or "no sportsouth available" that tells me that this delay was ensuring that Sportsouth would be added to the plans needed for wider viewability, but I've got a question in to Michael Thompson about it.

Two different markets...Sportsouth is a regional network but it's subdivided into smaller markets. It's available in 6 states to 9 million people, carries Braves, Hawks, Thrashers, Bobcats, Grizzlies, Predators, Dream, Reds, Cardinals, and UT games. You get whatever is most relevant to your local network.

Ooops i didn't type out my full thought.
When both teams are playing if they are on the same network then they are going to have to decide where the line is between ATL and CLT to make the switch. I have to assume that the older team that seeded higher in the playoffs will get the nod in those 'in-between' areas if there is a conflict. SO then the question becomes how far into SC do they show the Hawks on days that the Cats are not playing vs days that we are?
Generally, for a purely marketing standpoint, I would guess if you live in Columbia you will get all of the Hawks games and any Bobcats games that don't conflict.

It's the NBA predefined market. If you go to NBA.com for league pass broadband, it's whichever team is blacked out on there that you would get first. If it's the Hawks, any conflicts go in the Hawks favor. If it's the 'Cats, vice versa.

Hmmmm the NBA blackout rules are only for the 35 miles around the city to protect the local broadcasters.
Leaving me still wondering who Greenville, 120 miles from Charlotte and 160 miles from Atlanta, will be watching if the 'Cats and Hawks are on the same network....

From Bonnell's thread: http://blogs.charlotte.com/inside_the_nba/2010/10/more-info-on-the-tv-schedule.html
Seems like HD challenge may be worked out for TWC customers, a PRESEASON game on TV and same play-by-play team
For the first time in franchise history, you can watch all 82 Charlotte Bobcats regular-season games on television this season.
The Bobcats will announce Friday that 80 games will be televised on SportSouth, while the other two are on national TV outlets (Nov. 26 vs. Houston on ESPN2 and April 13 vs. Atlanta on ESPN).
Also, Monday’s preseason game in Miami will be televised on SportSouth.
Previous to this season, the most games the Bobcats had televised were about 70. Team management decided that maximum exposure throughout the Carolinas was key to the franchise’s marketing.
The team will also announce that all Bobcats games on SportSouth will be shot in high-definition, where available through the various cable and satellite outlets. I'm told the Bobcats are hopeful Time Warner Cable will add a SportSouth HD channel to their digital options.
Previously, Bobcats telecasts were spread between two regional sports networks, Fox Sports Carolinas and SportSouth. The team felt it important to have one consistent home for their telecasts.
Last season’s broadcast team of Steve Martin (play-by-play), Dell Curry (color analyst) and Stephanie Ready (sideline reporter) will return.

All of those issues are between FOX and local cable providers, and FOX's goal is to get every provider in the Carolinas to pick up our games

Honestly if I cant watch any of the games I will be very upset. It is so stupid that I have Time Warner Cable, live in NC, and have a chance of not being able to see the games because SportSouth isnt a channel in Raleigh. The Bobcats play in Time Warner Cable Arena. You better find a channel on your cable lineup that works for everyone in the state especially one of the biggest cities in the state.

Actually, Raleigh is the giveaway in this plan, since MASN means they don't get SportSouth. But serving a bunch of markets closer to Charlotte is their plan.

I'm so tired of this man. I wish I could just come in from a long day and watch MY team on MY television instead of sifting through shitty ass feeds on the computer all night. hey, just getting to this thread. yes you can watch them on sports south on twc in ch, durham and raleigh (i've heard this area called the triangle before). they open a channel for it on a special events channel. i forget what the channel number is. i want to say last year the non-hd channel was 147 but i am sure that has changed. there is also an hd feed somewhere near the foxsports channel. you have to have the sports package tier though. i lived in chapel hill two years ago and now live in durham and get them no problem. i wish direct tv would quit effing around and show the outer market so i can switch providers. but twc is all we have now.
i went home to look for the game. doesn't look like they are on, but i think the special events channel is 520 this year.

Sports South has Bobcats pregame show on now...talking to DJ about his role as starter.
Steve Martin that Felton's low FG % will actually create more scoring opportunities for other Bobcats (Wallace, Jack, Diaw).
Mentioned how after the last preseason game, LB's concerns at PG position were not w/ DJ, but who his backup would be.
so i was looking at the TWC guide for durham/triangle and the bobcats are not listed. i am holding out hope that come 830 tonight channel 520 will have them on as a special event that just isn't listed. let's say i am less than optimistic. it is such a shame that the cats don't care about their outer market.
i know some of you on here were advocating for the name change to the Carolina Bobcats to incorporate all of north and south carolina. how about the Carolina (within 75 mile radius of Charlotte) Bobcats to accurately reflect the fan base.
I just spoke to someone at TWC and they were a complete idiot. At first they said there would be no coverage for the Bobcat's games and then said it looked like they would all be shown on NBA TV. I asked if they meant NBA league pass (even though they are blacked out here) and they said that it was NBA TV. Obviously that is not the case. I asked to speak to someone else and they said they weren't sure about the special events channel but the other rep was wrong about NBA TV (obviously).
I am so upset that the damn arena has Time Warner on the outside and when you call TW, they don't even have a clue about what is going on. If it truly turns out that the Triangle market doesn't get the games, I just may jump off a bridge. I pay for every damn channel available and would gladly pay more to see the Bobcats games. You would think I would be able to see the games.
I live in Chapel Hill (you heard of that town MJ?) and support for the Bobcats has been growing over the past couple of years. Please, please, don't ruin this by not broadcasting any of the games this year.

welcome aboard! you won't be able to get the cats on league pass due to the whole outer market thing. if twc decides to not carry them in the outer market you (and i/we are screwed). i had to call last year, the year before and the year before that to get them. ever since the switched from tv14. i just don't think i have it in me to call again this year. this should be the job of someone in the bobcat's organization. i may have to do the whole get direct tv then a PO box in greensboro and "switch" addresses to get the cats.

I've been fan for years now and over the last 2 seasons have been to over 10 games including playoff game against Magic. I've watched this team progress to the best they've been and now I can't watch them in Raleigh? I am extremely frustrated and just received and email from FS Carolinas. This what they said:
"If you're a Time Warner customer you will still get the Bobcats on SportSouth in Raleigh as we have extended our coverage now that all of the games are on SportSouth.
Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!"
I've searched the guide vigoriously and also called TWC multiple times. All they could tell me was to check New14 channel for them. I have heard from others that they will be broadcasted on the special events channel like away games last year, yet nothing is on the guide. Does anyone from Raleigh see SportSouth anywhere?
Please if anyone knows what is going on please let me know. Everyone seems to think they will be shown but can't find on guide once.

I dont have a good feeling. Time Warner has released a statement in previous years saying that the games will be on the special events channel. I have yet to see anything like this for the upcoming season? I've talked with TWC several times and no one there understands a thing. Someone was trying to tell to tell me the game will be on the NBA league pass, and I was trying to explain the blackout rules to him.

The President from Bobcats Sports and Entertainment just forwarded me an email from the CEO of Fox Sports South. So the deal is Fox Sports South is in heavy conversations with all cable providers in NC + SC to carry the games in HD. Mr. Whitfield said to encourage other fans to call your local cable provider and request that they pick up SportSouth.
Now for the good news. For now, all the games will be shown in standard definition on TWC Special Events channel which is 520.
Everyone make a big deal about HD to TWC and we may just get it.

Funny (true) story. I called Charter today and gave them my angry-but-still-mildly-under-control rant. Told them the Bobcats are supposed to come on SportSouth, it's even LISTED ON THE GUIDE, but it's never shown. After sitting and thinking for a while, the guy tells me it has nothing to do with Charter. I laughed and told him it was Charter's decision not to pick up the games and I just wanted to know why (I know this because I've talked with Michael Thompson about it before and he flat out told me that Charter didn't pick them up this year). The Charter guy then told me it wasn't their fault, to contact Fox itself because the networks are solely in charge of the programming shown and Charter has nothing to do with it. I hung up. God I hate them so bad but I have nobody else to switch to.

That's the problem with this whole mess Ish. You can't get anyone on the phone that knows what the hell is going on!!!!! They just blame it on other people.
This will never be resolved and it's very frustrating!!!!!
The NBA and the Bobcats should make a rule that if the providers do not want to pay the fee to carry the games they cannot black them out on league pass for those customers. We should have the option to pay to watch the damn games!!!!! It's ridiculous!!!!

This is America. If I have the damn money (and it's not illegal) I should be able to get it.
Don't you guys find this situation and Stern's whining about the league losing money HIGHLY ironic? We WANT to give them money but they refuse to let us!

I know, right?
I just exhausted my last resource and sent a long, detailed message to the NBA Front Office asking them why people within an hour of Charlotte have no way to legally watch the Bobcats play and what we can do about it. If they ever write back, I'll let you know what they say.
Ish, you can watch the team on DirecTv since you're inside the 75-mile radius...in HD too.

DirecTV told me they couldn't put a dish on my house because there were too many trees around it. I'm telling you man, this is like the perfect storm of "You're not watching the Bobcats, you might as well become a Heat fan."

Family likes them. I do too. Part of the reason we bought it - great, wooded area. I'll just fight Charter to the death instead.

Good luck with that.
I had Charter for three years, finally switched last year, it's soooooooo much better: picture, packages, pricing and sports are all better.

My parents have DISH and I was all set to go over there during the season and watch the games with my pops, but at the first of this month DISH decided not to pay the Fox fees and drop all of their channels. It's just mind-blowing how this has all worked out. (I know, I know, DirecTV for them too. ;) )
(I know, I know, DirecTV for them too. ;) )
Damn straight! DirecTv for everyone!
Special Events Channel 520 on TWC in Chapel Hill is now showing that it is showing all the games. If you go to 520 right now, it has the full lineup of all the upcoming games including tonight's game at 8:30pm. It finally looks as though we are going to get the games in this area.

If many people bring up the same request the easiest solution is to give us SportSouth HD
I'm happy for standard def but let's not settle for this BS. As Chef said it's 2010 come on

Can someone please update me on this to see if I need to call TWC. Nothing is showing up on my special events channel here. Thanks!
Mine shows a schedule of events (all Bobcats games). It doesn't show on the guide, but it does if you change to the channel. This has been like this for a couple of hours now. I am not sure if I will get the pre-game show or not at 8:00pm. That doesn't show up and it is still 5 till.

Same thing so far. No pregame show but the schedule is still on. I'm watching the Miami/Philly game on another channel and going to check back at 8:30pm.

SportSouth will not get blacked out. This will not happen. AT&T is gonna HEAR IT from me tomorrow if this happens. I MEAN HEAR IT. That means not talk to some associate, I will demand to talk to a supervisor immediately and flip a shit. I've been a customer of AT&T for almost 20 years.
Mine just came on channel 520. Good luck to all of fou guys. I hope you end up getting it!

I'm in Wilmington and I have Time Warner.
No SportSouth here either, though our special events channel is 520, also. Nothing is being shown other than a "check back for special events" message.
Let me get this straight:
-I can't watch the game on Time Warner Cable, even though they own the naming rights to the arena.
-I can't watch on any of the satellite networks
-I can't watch on LeaguePass Broadband, because of rights deals with TWC and the satellite companies.
-I can't watch Bobcats games in Wilmington, even though the 'Cats hold their training camp here (in which, one of the tangential goals of having camp out here on the coast, I'd assume, is to build some kind of fan support in this area)
Isn't that just a ridiculously absurd situation? I mean, like, farcical, Joseph Heller levels of absurd?
I'm a little puzzled why the naming rights to the arena didn't include a stipulation that TWC make Cats games available to all of their markets in the Carolinas (if the Cats' management's stated goal is, in fact, to build awareness and fandom of the Carolinas' only NBA team).
I'm not sure who to direct my outrage toward, either--I'll probably call TWC tonight and cancel, but part of me reckons that someone in the Bobcats organization was so short-sighted that they failed to anticipate this kind of scenario, and that I probably shouldn't continue to reward them by attending the 3-4 games I typically try and to make it to per year.
Anyway, just rambling. First time poster and all! I guess I'll try to find a radio feed.

How could we go about it to where we can maximize the exposure? Is it something we could do online?
I have DISH, but every year they hold out on negotiations with FOX & NBA on the League Pass. I figured that between the two DTV would be more amenable.

Might could get in contact with Bonnell and try and get an open letter posted in the paper? Or get a ton of people to esign something and send it to the email accounts of DISH/DTV higher ups?
the best approach is going after direct tv alone. they are already known as the "sports" satellite company. and with dish losing fox channels and who knows what else next, the approach would be "you already offer the best product, we would switch today from cable if you picked up the cats"

Yeah I agree.
Is there something like a petition we can put up on this site? That way BCP can get credit for helping to bring manna to the masses, so to speak.
How about a stickeyed thread with a copy of a petition created on one of those free petition online sites and a link to that site where you can actually "sign" it?
That seems to be the easiest way. Looking on "PetitionOnline" it looks pretty simple; basically you just write a body of text, select what you want the signees to leave (less the better) and it creates the thing.
Another thought...maybe get some pointers from the Bobcats? They probably can't actively get involved...but since it would benefit them maybe they could give us a few pointers...and definitely help spread the word.

ATTN AT&T USERS: Bobcats Game on Channel 691 or 1691 in HD!
Fallen, I wish I had logged-on last night! I could've saved you some stress.
In general, AT&T has their act together. When it first came to Raleigh, I signed up. The first few games of the season were hit-and-miss, but they quickly got their act together and have consistently shown the games. The only thing is, they could be airing in a variety of places.
I think the Hawks, technically, get preference for the "sportsouth" channel #728( I think?) if the cats and hawks are playing at the same time. Then, the Cats get bumped to "sportsouth a" which is #727. If the Grizz are playing (or Hockey or something) the the Cats could be on one of the "ALT" channels, which as you found start around channel #690.
I personally don't get HD, but I'm glad to know that if I had the money for HD service and an HD tv that I could get the games in HD even if they're bumped to one of the other channels!
anyone else not getting 520 to come in?

Rick Bonnell posted on his blog that TWC is adding a SportsSouth HD channel for its customers in Charlotte and the Triad in early November.
